Customers are saying

Customers admire the charming and deeply engaging gameplay of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, praising it as an excellent remake with updated graphics, music, and even voice acting. Many appreciate the strategic depth and nostalgic appeal, finding the game fun and enjoyable for both newcomers and longtime fans. A common concern, however, centers on the game's price point.

This game is an excellent turn-based tactics game for any fan of the genre! Originally developed by the creators of Fire Emblem, Advance Wars offers colorful characters, unique unit models for each of 5 nations, and endless replayability with a map editor and versus mode! Online right now is a bit lacking since it is friends-only but we’re hoping for this to change in a future update. Highly recommend!

Awesome game! I remember playing this 20 years ago and this remake has been awesome so far. I have already completed the first campaign and am on the second! Highly recommended if for both old and new players who are strategy game fans! Please make more AW games!

Pretty solid game overall, with a nice visual style, fun strategy, and great music. $60 is a bit pricey for it in my opinion though.

Advance Wars is a turns-based tactical battle game that simulates aspects of a simplified, real-world war on the ground, air and sea level. The difference between a tactical RPG (Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre) and a tactical war game (Advance Wars, War Groove, Tiny Metal) is a tactical RPG will typically have characters with specific capabilities that increase in strength with experience where a tactical war game will be based primarily on more generic units (although some games may include experience benefits) that can be produced in volume based on capturing and/or holding onto factories. Also, tactical RPG’s will have a deeper storyline where a tactical war game can have a larger battle field so that there is a more strategic element in terms of size and scope. AW 1+2 Reboot Camp brings back the same awesome campaigns as the original GBA releases but with updated visuals and quality of life enhancements. The mandatory tutorial does a nice job of gently introducing the game mechanics and unit capabilities but complexity and strategic variation will quickly increase as you progress deeper into the game. I’ve always considered the Advance Wars AI to be very competent and much stronger than the AI in War Groove and Tiny Metal although it does have some odd weaknesses and quirks such as prioritizing attacks on transport vehicles instead of more threatening units. Also, the AI may have been modified from the original games in that it seemed a little more challenging in the couple of skirmish matches that I played but more hours will be needed to see if there is a real change. In any case, this release of AW is just as fun and entertaining as it was 20 years ago. Pro’s - Deep turn-based tactical game that will be challenging for even veteran players - Updated graphics, music and sounds with many options to streamline gameplay - Auto saves and the ability to rewind a turn to the beginning if you want to correct some moves - Plenty of content to keep you busy for a long time with skirmishes, on-line play and creating your own maps Cons: - Some missions (survival, timed) are more puzzle based than strategic. i.e. there is a very narrow set of moves that will achieve the win. These missions rely less on AI and more on making the right combination of moves. - Units that are on their own cities/bases tend to blend in so they are difficult to identify. - It looks like the skirmish matches and design room are based on Advance Wars 1 so the new units from the second series are not available. - User designed maps cannot be shared with the general public ala War Groove. - Price is on the high side if you are trying to gain the interest of a new generation of players What I’ve always liked about Advance Wars versus other strategic war games is it strikes a nice balance between complexity and accessibility. Yes, there are other games with greater tactical details but they will have a steeper learning curve and are more difficult to quickly jump in and out of a game. If you have never played an AW game and are looking for a strategic challenge with an addictive “just one more turn” aspect then I highly recommend this game. You will not be disappointed.

It's back babyyyyy! This is a long overdue release of the Game Boy Advance versions of ye olde. If you like turn-based tactics then these games are perfectly balanced while still difficult enough to push your understanding to the limits.

Pretty straight foward turn based tactics style game. Never got to play the originals but wanted to. Thankfully they remade both, touched them up and sold them as a pair. Wonderful game for sinking some free time into a tactics game that seems simple but can really push you to get that best S rating.

The game's graphics have been updated for the Nintendo Switch, and they look great. The characters and units are all well-designed, and the environments are detailed and atmospheric. The game also features a new soundtrack that is composed by Hideki Sakamoto, who also composed the music for the original Advance Wars games. The gameplay of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is faithful to the original games, but it has been updated to make it more accessible to new players. The game now features a tutorial that teaches players the basics of the game, and it also features a variety of difficulty settings to accommodate players of all skill levels. Overall, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a fantastic remake of two classic games. The game is faithful to the originals, but it has been updated to make it more accessible to new players. If you are a fan of turn-based strategy games, then you should definitely check out Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp.

A remake done right, not just a simple port. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is one of the best for tactical type games. Hopefully they continue to remake the others or put out a brand new one for switch

Waited really long for this game to finally release and Im quite pleased with it. I do prefer the look of the GBA games but the art style they went with works on Switch. If youve played the previous versions of Advance Wars you should know what to expect.
