Hello friends and welcome to my review of the Aluratek Picstick! First off best buy got this unit out to me quickly. No isssues with delivery, however it came in a very large box for such a small item. Nevertheless that is not a big deal. The big deal is the Picstick, it is fantastic!. This unit is small enough to hide behind your TV no problem. It does require several wires to be sticking out of it, but that doesn't stop it from slipping behind your electronics etc..
The folks over at Aluratek had the fore thought of adding in a remote control to deal with the unit. The remote is small and straight forward, clean and easy to use. The unit itself comes with a remote sensor that is very small and can be hidden near the TV or receiver and that's all you would ever see from the unit itself. I like this feature , because I don't want to look at a HDMI dongle, nor do I want to be searching around for a way to get the remote to talk to the unit.
I think the people over at Aluratek have a great product on their hands here. The unit is simple to hook up and get started. And the pics from my phone are now somewhere where I can enjoy them all the time.
If you have a need to get some pics up on the big screen, this is for you. Do I recommend this for others? Most assuredly!

I was excited to receive the ALURATEK picStick Wireless HDTV Photo VIDEO Viewer. I love seeing my photos displayed on my 82 “ HDTV and I’m always looking for an easy way to accomplish the task. I have 37 gigabytes of photos stored in albums on my iPad, NOT on the cloud, dating back from 2006. Inside the box was the PicStick, a remote with an infrared antenna cord, batteries, a power cord and a hdmi cable. The quick start guide said to download the FrameTime app to pair the Stick with my device. It will work on my phone or iPad, but since
my pictures are mostly on my iPad I used it. Some of the steps were a bit confusing but I finally got everything working. I followed the instructions. My initial thoughts are that the app is clunky and very basic. Once the PicSick was connected, I was eventually able to use the remote to navigate the screen on the tv. I had to connect to WiFi to transfer the pictures over after selecting them from my iPad. Maybe I missed something in the set up process, but I am only able to transfer 9 photos at a time. The total storage amount on the PicStick is 10gs. I have the ability to play a slide show, but it is very slow and I see no options to choose the duration. This is not what I expected. With only the ability to transfer 9 photos, when I have thousands, this will not be a device I find particularly useful and I must say, a bit disappointing.

The item works exactly as described. EZ to use and set up.
The Frametime app is also simple and easy to use. Uploading the pictures wirelessly makes this fast and easy.

Very cool device, no longer have to look at a tiny screen and if you are traveling, you can send it to your TV at home for family to see!

Unable To Sync and No Customer Support...Beware!

I wanted to review the Aluratek PicStick Wireless photo/video viewer (with remote) because I think the idea of being able to share images and videos from my computer to a big screen TV is cool. Like a digital picture frame on steroids and beyond the simple sharing vacation photos with family and friends there were BIGGER ideas I had. If this worked like it was suggested I’d be able to turn old TVs or monitors into Halloween decorations, I’d be able to maximize presentations for school or work, and ambiance for Mother’s day brunch or other events hosted at home.
Unfortunately I can’t review this product today because I wasn’t able to get it to work. In the box there was the stick and a cable to attach the stick to your TV and a power supply (the USB on my TV was supposed to suffice) then using the enclosed remote you connect to the wifi and you’re off to the races! That’s where I got stuck, I got it plugged in and I got to the screen to sync the remote to use it and there was no way I could get the remote to sync up. It wouldn’t let me use my TV remote either, which was frustrating. I reached out to customer service via an online chat window which ended up being an automated/AI helper, the issue wasn’t able to be resolved automatically so I clicked the option to speak with a person. After over ten minutes waiting to connect I clicked to have someone email me back. I never got an email and after a few days I tried to reach out to Tech Insider to get help reaching someone at Aluratek but never heard back from them either.
Given I couldn’t get the product to work and I couldn’t get anyone to help me get it working I can only say that if the promise of the product does what the box says then it’s awesome! It's a little frustrating having to use the USB port to power it since I only have the one but technically this device would be taking the place of UBS slideshows or presentations so it’s not a big deal. I would say buyer beware or at least buyer be patient trying to reach someone for customer service/technical support if you face the same situation I did. If you’re not willing to troubleshoot and trial-and-error this into working then I would say skip it, keep looking for a more user friendly product.

Device Glitchy and couldn't fully setup

The concept of this device is great. My thought was this would be perfect for someone who wants to share events/photos with someone without having to email them. I used to travel a lot and text my parents' photos. The photos would never send right through text, so a device like this where I could set it up at my parents and then email photos to the device and they would be displayed on their tv seemed like an awesome idea.
The reason I gave it one star is due to it never working. The device was glitchy and I could never finish the setup. Since setup couldn't be completed, I was unable to test any of the features of this device so I couldn't even tell if my thought above would work on this device.
I'm not sure this device is ready for consumers since it did not work. I tried multiple resets different TV's/monitors, Wi-Fi hotspots, changing out the plug and other cables and still wouldn't function. So, I would pass on this device for now, but once they get it corrected, I could see this being a pretty cool product.
