The Echo Show 5 has been quite an entertainment at my house. It's so small compared to other smart displays I have seen lately, But I'm here for it. I love the small size because it can be easily put anywhere around your home. The 5.5’’ display is very bright and vibrant but again small.
The customization is a great feature and allows you to display all your favorite photos from your phone so this little guy works as a digital picture frame. On the display you are able to see important news, weather and time. If you are an Amazon Prime member it's definitely a plus and you will be able to utilize the Echo Show more since you will be able to stream movies and listen to music ad free. You can still use these features but they are limited.
You cannot use any other streaming services on this device which for me is a bummer. I tried to log in to Netflix, Hulu or Peacock and it did not work. I don’t really like the Amazon video content so I was a bit disappointed. As for Music I was able to sync in your Pandora and Iheart radio account since those are the ones I usually have in all my devices. The Speaker even though it is small, it sounds phenomenal without any distortion, also great for video calls. The controls on the top are pretty simple, just the up and down volume control and the microphone and camera shut off button. There is also a camera shutter.
The Amazon Alexa app is a great addition to the Echo Show, It must be downloaded to be able to sync in your smart devices like cameras, smart light bulbs, irobot and other smart devices compatible to Alexa. The Echo Show also works as a camera so if you are away from home and need to check those at home this works as a indoor camera.“Hey Alexa” is just the beginning of the outstanding help this device offers. From setting alarms, helping you set a routine schedule from playing music and most of all helping you find the answer to that question you forgot to ask the teacher, this Echo Show has so much to offer. I'm beyond happy with it. It’s my personal assistant I need, without paying a million bucks.

We have several Echos through the house including the first original Echo still working great.
In our bedroom we have the 1st gen Echo Show 5 in a nightstand, which we use as an alarm clock and picture frame among other Alexa functions, so took this opportunity to get this 3rd gen for the other nightstand.
This is a significant redesign from previous versions. The shape is more triangular and rounded. The buttons are easier to reach and shaped like their function symbol: Plus and Minus for volume and mic off, so it's easier to use at night.
The camera cover, like previous Echos physically covers the camera, which we always have covered.
The screen has much more noticeable rounded edges. This looks attractive but when playing videos, this version of Echo shrinks the video with black bars on every edge, so one can see the full video, but makes the viewing area smaller. Thankfully, it doesn't do this with pictures.
On the plus side, the screen is clearer, and it's much faster than previous generations. Also the applications (Skills) seem to be updated. For example, opening Prime Video looks more similar to the TV app than on the 1st gen.
Audio has more bass, so it overall sounds better.
I was planning on making both Echos a 'Stereo Pair' but one cannot pair a 1st gen with a 3rd gen. Perhaps because they don't quite sound the same, but disappointing regardless.
Talking about sound, the previous generation has a 3.5mm audio output but this one does not. It does however support pairing Bluetooth speakers.
To power the Echo, it comes with its own power brick which connects using a barrel connector recessed into the back of the Echo, so unfortunately it does not use standard USB-C ports to power it. To make it worse, our Back Echo 5 came with a white power cable, which looks quite odd.
Overall, the screen makes for a much better Alexa experience and can also be used to display compatible cameras and make alexa-to-alexa video calls, it's touchscreen and many skills are just more convenient.

The Echo Show 5 is a compact and useful smart display for everyday tasks. The screen is clear enough for checking the time, weather, reminders, and video calls, though it’s not very sharp or fast.
Alexa works reliably, and the device integrates well with other Amazon services and smart home products. Sound quality is okay for casual listening but not powerful.
It can feel a bit slow at times, and the on-screen suggestions may not appeal to everyone. Overall, it’s a decent option if you want a small, simple smart display without high expectations.

My first impression was how cute the Echo Show 5 is. The device is well-built and has some weight to it. I especially appreciate the fabric-covered speakers. Setting it up takes some time and many menus, but it’s worth not skipping any part of it. Even after finishing, I recommend going through the options once more for the best experience. Once all settings are in place, it’s all smooth from there.
The operating system and interface are on the slow side and can be a bit clunky. There is some lag, especially when browsing the net, opening apps, and going through the store. Having said this, I don’t think this is its main purpose.
The 5” display may be small, but it’s still well-lit and fairly sharp. Sure, I have to come closer if I am across the room, or if am watching content, like following a cooking tutorial in the kitchen (then I have to position it right in front of me). Having said that, the small screen is perfect for my office, and it’s quite portable.
Like most Echo devices, the Show 5 picks up voice commands very well, even at decent distances. I particularly like that now I can see the answers, especially weather and traffic, on the screen. It also works great for lyrics while playing music.
Speaking of music, I am very impressed with the sound quality. Sure, it may not beat a dedicated speaker, but the amount of bass such a small device delivers is quite a feat. Every music genre, podcast, or video content is pleasant to listen to. While there is some distortion at high volumes, there shouldn’t be a need to put it that high. Just in case you need a bigger sound, you can always pair the Show 5 to any Bluetooth speaker (or headset).
The camera is decent as well. It covers a wide area and is clearer than expected. “Dropping” in on any household echo with a screen or contacting someone works very nicely. If you download the Alexa app, you can remotely use the device as a security camera. While I wouldn’t place a camera in certain places, it's good to know that the Show 5 has a camera privacy slider and a mic mute button.
If there is anything to complain about, I’d say it would be the number of ads, suggestions, and “tips”, that keep displaying. Also, if you have multiple devices around the house, the Show 5 kept trying to respond to commands, which can be a bit annoying. The mic must be pretty sensitive as this does not happen with my other Echo devices.
In the end, I am very much enjoying the Show 5. Sure, the screen may be on the tiny side, which may lead to buying a bigger device, but in places such as offices and small rooms, it is great. Plus, the sound may be its biggest selling point, and at the budget-friendly current price, it’s a great deal.

My Boyfriend and I really like the Echo Show 5! I bought it for him for Christmas. He's been wanting one for awhile now and it was worth every penny to see the look on his face when he opened it! The screen is a perfect size for anywhere in the house. The sound is better than i expected. Setup was simple. Alexa takes a little longer to respond than our other device, but its very acurate info, and she also gives even more detailed info than you ask for if you want it. Def worth it!

I'm on the Amazon echo-sphere. I have amazon shows and dots and ring cameras all over my house. Now, I know there might be better cameras and smart hubs out there but for me, I love the fact that all my products works seamlessly together and when a new product comes out, it also is a 2 minute set-up to work with everything else in my home. Well this new 3rd generation echo show 5 is a big improvement over the 2nd gen that is in my home currently. The form factor is a little different but not much. The shape is now "triangular" and not so square as before, The volume and mic buttons are much bigger and easier to locate by feel, especially because mine is located on the drawer next to my bed, I can just reach over in the dark and feel what is what. The charging port now is also dead center of the back of the unit and deeper in. I think this is to maybe hold it for secure but I also had to wiggle and force it in the first time.
The reason you should buy this or upgrade from your current 2nd gen, is that it is noticeably faster. When i plugged both in at the same time, the gen 3 booted up so much faster. The screen is more responsive and app loads quicker. Also there is a big difference in sound quality. Now, on it's own, you probably would think the gen 2 is fine, but, side by side, the gen 3 is so much better. Sounds better and way more responsive. Definitely get the gen 3.

The Amazon Echo Show 5 is praised as a great compact smart display, ideal for nightstands or small spaces, offering useful Alexa features like timers, smart home control, video calls, and news, with improved sound and a sleeker design in the latest version, but its small screen isn't great for video content.

I love this little Alexa. It does have a camera on it if you want to talk face-to-face. It also has a sliding camera cover so you don’t feel your privacy is invaded when not using the camera. The speaker system is great for playing songs.
Easy set up. Manages my light system.

The Echo Show 5 is really good. The screen is clear, the sound is solid for its size, and it’s super convenient for checking the weather, watching videos, or controlling smart home devices. It’s small but surprisingly useful, and it fits perfectly on a nightstand or desk.

The Echo Show 5 works great as a smart display. The sound quality is noticeably better than older versions, and Alexa responds somewhat quickly. I mainly use it for alarms, weather, and music, and it does all of that smoothly. Compact size and very useful.

Clear video — especially from the front camera. For example, the older Rexing V1 gets praise for crisp 1080p video and a very wide field of view (~170°), which helps catch a broad area of the road

Echo Show 5 is a great little device that easily fits in any location in my home. Setup was quick and simple. Most settings were easy to figure out but for some I watched YouTube videos (e.g., how to connect Ring doorbell). The sound is amazing, which makes it great for streaming movies while cooking.

"I absolutely love my Echo Show 5 (3rd Generation). The features are outstanding, and the Alexa calling feature has been a game-changer for me. It seamlessly integrates into my daily routine, making everything so much easier. The screen is just the right size, and the sound quality is superb.
The only thing I wish it had is YouTube integration. Other than that, it's an exceptional smart display that's perfect for anyone looking to enhance their smart home experience."

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my Mother in Love and she loveess it!! It was an upgrade from her echo dot and she loves that she has a screen now and can watch her picture slideshow, listen to her audiobooks, set her alarms, calendar, and has so much flexibility. I feel like we're ultimately going to have to get her one with bigger screen because she loves it so much!!

I bought the Apples Echo Show 5 brought it home, set it up and was impressed with the sound that came out of it.
It worked fine and all but at the end of the day it was a bit small and later found that it was better suited for kids.
I have a larger one that i purchased several years ago, it's in my kitchen as i like to get recipes on it. It works great!
There were no issues with the ES5, the sound was great and all but not my size.
