I love the aesthetic and the style of all the characters! I love their little warbly voices and how they interact in different ways depending on their personalities. The graphics are absolutely adorable, cheerful and fun. Every time you play, you cant help but to just feel happy and relaxed. This game has absolutely no stress to it. Some activities you can do are catching bugs, fishing, collecting fossils, gardening, decorating and upgrading your house, fixing up your town up etc. There are tons of bugs and fish you can collect to fill up your encyclopedia and your towns museum. This can take weeks months or even years to complete since some fish and bugs are extremely rare. You can even collect badges for collecting a certain amount of items.
I also love how all the cute animal villagers in your town each have their own distinct personality. You may find you like some of them, you may find you dislike some of them. But they are all extremely different with different dialog so it keeps the game fun and interesting! This game takes place in real life time. When its night in real life, its night in the game, same with morning etc. You get rewarded the more you play. You will find yourself unlocking new shops and activities each day you play. Absolutely recommended.

For anyone who has played Animal Crossing before, this game is amazing. The graphics are amazing, the game play is simple and effective, with the same controls as previous DS games. I've been meaning to look at my old town on my old game, but I can't tear myself away from this one! With new, innovative features and great graphics, this game is a must for any fan of the game series. And if you haven't played yet, please pick this up and start!

Animal Crossing, New Leaf, is a great game to play, whether you're just beginning your gaming experience, or have played countless games before it. I had never played an Animal Crossing game before, but had been told by a friend that it was a really fun game. The openness of the world is really fun, as this game begins with you becoming the mayor over a small city. You nearly immediately are given the ability to make your town become shaped however you want it, and this makes playing the game really fun. However, one of the attributes of this game, which in many ways encourages gameplay, could also discourage it if you are an impatient player. I am referring to the clock system, as this game's time moves at the same speed as ours does. While this can make the game really fun, knowing you can collect different items at different times, it can also be troublesome, especially in the beginning of the game, where you can only sell and buy things during the day. Despite this, I do think that this game is at least worth a look, as I have found it quite enjoyable.

I have always enjoyed all of the animal crossings! this one adds a cool twist! you can now swim and deep sea dive for fish and you also are the mayor of your town. This opens the ability to control what is built in your town!! This adds a very unique touch to the game to bring this game to one of my top animal crossing choices! If you like all of the other animal crossings you will love this game!! I highly recommend it!!

This is a fun open-ended game that encourages the player to explore, interact with town residents, and do activities to improve your home. It's more addicting than it sounds. Please be aware that shops in the game operate on a schedule kept in real time. This means playing mostly during the daytime, which is a challenge for me; you should be aware of that fact going in.

Animal Crossing New Leaf plays very similar to the original Animal Crossing Game for the GameCube. In New Leaf your character becomes the mayor of your town. As the mayor you are in charge of building positive relationships with your neighbors and developing the landscape of the town. There are public works projects such as bridges, benches, and buildings that you can create. In addition, there are shops in the town that unlock and develop over time. You can relax by going fishing, catching bugs, swimming, and diving. You get to build and expand your house over time. There are tons of items that you can collect and decorate your house with. There are many holidays and events that are celebrated in the game that correspond to real life holidays which keeps the game entertaining all year round. Overall there is a lot of fun to be had in this game.

Measured Pacing Makes Latest Animal Crossing Best

If you're familiar with Animal Crossing, here's the big takeaway: New Leaf is the same premise, only you've been given more control over the town's direction and the pacing is perfect for a handheld system. If you're new to the series, that sentence made no sense at all.
In essence, Nintendo was right to call the first Animal Crossing a "communication game," and it’s a label that sticks in the latest game. You're an adorable human character placed in a vibrant village inhabited by friendly anthropomorphic animals. You’ll wander past a river, around a beach, and between plenty of trees.
The goals of this game are similar to those in The Sims. That is to say, there really aren't set benchmarks. You can earn in-game money by participating in various subgames (using a simple fishing and bug-catching mechanic and then selling those at the in-game store). You can use that money to buy decorations for your house, to upgrade said house, or to improve the town in some way.
But all that "earning" isn't the soul of the game. Instead, it's the interactions with the inhabitants where you'll find the core of it all. You get a chance to "befriend" the residents by chatting with them, sending them gifts, helping them with errands, playing games. The rewards? Witty text in conversations, return gifts, even the knowledge that you've convinced someone to stay in (or move to) your town.
Now those aren't especially substantive rewards, I'll admit. That does get at a core philosophical question of why you'd play any videogame. In that way, Animal Crossing is an escape from reality in the same vein as a Minecraft. There are incentives to doing stuff (digging/mining in Minecraft, interacting with the animals here), sure. The reward is the experience.
To that end: you’ll need to be self-motivated to get the most from this. If you can give yourself a goal (maximize your house, create a fruit orchard, complete the museum) and you enjoy the slow process of chipping away? You’ll get a lot of mileage here. If you’re twitchy and want the next level or event to happen *now*? You’ll lose interest before the big stuff happens.
There are a few missteps that remove from the overall immersion. You’ll want a bigger inventory almost immediately and you’ll long for a deeper connection with the town’s residents (sending letters misses the mark as the computer characters can’t read your notes). These are weakness that have existed since the first game arrived in 2002 (US version) and the latter seems an unavoidable issue.
Luckily, the balance of the New Leaf has made this a great handheld choice and helps to counteract some of the problems. Events are spread out. When you finish funding an upgrade to your house (a 2nd floor, a basement) or the town (a new bridge, a decorative fountain), the building process finishes the next day. That sort of model feels like free-to-play design, but it’s done carefully (you've not lost extra money to speed an event, the one day wait is consistent across all projects).
Curiously, that wait is a strong feature. You play 15-20 minutes, complete some event? You’ll need to come back and enrich your experience another day. That kind of patience and slow burn isn't for everybody, of course. If you’re like me and that strikes you the right way? You’ll be hopelessly addicted for an entire month… only looking forward to even more tomorrow.

I loved Animal Crossing City Folk for the Wii. This game was part of the reason I purchased my 2DS. It's addicting, getting your town set up, customizing it to your liking, getting involved with the events, trying to make your collections in the museum. I love the new Island feature. I guess it'd be comparable to going to the city, but the only thing you could do in the city was buy things, get emotions (pretty much useless unless interacting with people), change your hair, shine your shoes and get your fortune. With the Island, you can play mini games that help you advance with your creature catalogue as well as bring you limited edition stuff and keep you occupied. Overall, I liked what they did in New Leaf and I'm sure I'll be playing it for years to come, just like my City Folk.

I loved the original Animal Crossing on the Gamecube, so I was excited to pick this up when I got my New 3DS. It certainly is pretty different. Instead of some random villager, you're the mayor. So that gives you the opporunity to make many more decisions about what's going on in your town. After playing for a week, I've come to remember more about the original I played as a kid, and in turn, make me love this game even more. But it can feel a bit as a chore sometimes because it really benefits you if you log on every day. Other than that, this game is fantastic.

This is probably my most addicting game on my 3DS. It's just like Sims but in this game you are not just the only human in town but you are also the Mayor. In being the Mayor you are responsible for public works projects to keep your residents happy. You also do a lot of interacting with the local animal residents who all have very different personalities which makes this game very interesting. BTW if you stop playing for a while when you come back the residents start asking you where you have been and you'll also notice a lot of weeds growing which you'll need to clean up. It's a fun little time killer.

Incredibly addicting. I would recommend this only if you want a game that will take over your free time! Seriously though, it is a fun game to play, I got a copy for my wife too and she likes it as well.
I remember playing the one on Gamecube, but didn't remember liking it this much. Real fun to play when you have some downtime, the only thing that can get you is if you check the game too early or too late since it runs in real time. We ran into a problem with all the vendors being closed. You can alter the time in the settings though.
Go grab the game, it is worth it.

This game is a lot better than I was expecting. I picked up because it was cheap and wanted to see what all the hype was about. It is definitely different not sure what to compare it to maybe SIMS? Not quite though.
I have never played any of the games in the series this is my first and I am not disappointed it is a definite time killer in a good way. The game is SLOW paced at least from what im used to. Tons of things to do around town and interesting to me.
If you can get it cheap grab it its worth the money.

This is basically your typical Animal Crossing game, but this time you are the mayor of the town that you create. You get to decide how the town functions and what the town looks like. I find it more entertaining than the older ds animal crossing. While you can grow tired of doing the same stuff over and over again, the game is just fun. Sometimes you need a break from the fast paced games. If that is the case, pick this up. Time flies when you're playing New Leaf.

This is a very unique game that does not have a set story you have to follow. Instead, the game's progress is determined by your own actions. The game begins with the player being told that they are now the new mayor of their town. As mayor, you control what happens to your town, such as what public works projects get built, as well as the town ordinances issued. This opens up endless possibilities and hours of gameplay to make your town however you want it to be.

When you read the description of this game, you are going to think it is stupid; however, it is endearing and quite addictive. If your favorite parts of games include collecting stuff and talking to people, Animal Crossing is for you. It is a little like the Sims, but with less pressure. The game runs in real time and new things occur during the calendar year, so you will find yourself reaching for this game day after day and month after month.
