I must say that I am a big fan of both versions of Annie. However, the leading girl in this movie just steals my heart. Love this adaptation of the film.

    Foster Child Annie

First, this is not Orphan Annie growing up in the depression era as told by the movies in 1982 and 1999. If you approach this movie with that mindset you will be disappointed. This is an Annie growing up in a foster care situation after her parents abandoned her at an Italian restaurant named Domani's, which in Italian means tomorrow. This Annie isn't street tough as the original Annie was but she is street smart, optimistic, well mannered, and good natured. She longs to be reunited with her parents but makes the most of her present situation. Her life is changed when she literally runs into billionaire Will Stacks. Quevenzhane Wallis (Annie) lights up the screen and has a good screen chemistry with Jamie Foxx(Will Stacks). The songs are familiar but have been jazzed up for a modern day audience with the blessing of the original composers. In short, it's a good hearted movie filled with smiles and a few laughs. If you watch it with an open mind, this is good family entertainment.

Unless you are a Broadway purist then this is a terrific new movie production of Annie with a bunch of new songs and a terrific cast. The new Annie is played by Quvenzhané Wallis and she sings wonderfully as well as Jamie Foxx who steals the show in his numbers and the big surprise was Rose Byrne who can also belt out a tune. Cameron Diaz has a nice comic role as Miss Hanigan and let's leave it at that. Totally kid friendly and fun!

Annie is a great movie. Plot is very different from the original movie but everyone in it plays their part really well. Jamie plays Mr. Stax , a man who owns a cell phone company. Cameron Diaz plays a funny Mrs. Hannigan. Quvenzhane Wallis does a terrific job with playing Annie!! I recommend a parent to sit down and enjoy the movie with your child.

We watched this at the movies and my 5 yr old daughter loved it so much, she asked me to get the blu ray. Very Positive, wonderful movie, A++ especially for kids. It is clean and no need to fast forward for a specific adult oriented scene. The cast is a good balance, good acting by the grown ups and that little girl is so cute. Highly recommended.

This was one movie my 5 year old son kept asking to see. I took him to the theater and he loved it. Kept asking for the DVD but told him he had to wait for it to come out. Although the original was a favorite of mine, and there have been other remakes, this definitely wasn't horrible. Actually, I thought it was cute especially since they made it modern day. Definitely worth a watch.

I don't normally go for musicals but this movie was so heart warming and the acting was superb that I had to purchase the dvd. This should become a classic. The acting of the young star of Annie was outstanding as well as the entire cast. I took my two "teen" nieces and the absolutely loved it and made their mom take them again.

My first memory of this movie is when I sang 'The sun will come out tomorrow' in my middle school choir. This take brings a sad, but happy movie into today. I found it hard not to sing during the movie...lol. The actress playing Annie did extremely well, despite her age. And I had a hard time not like Carmen Diaz's character

loved this movie. I had no plans of watching it, but when my 6 year old granddaughter said she wanted to see it, I was all in. I was pleasantly surprised at the originality of this remake. I thought the story line was relevant and the music was amazing. The actors were perfect. I have watched it many times over.

A Good Modern Interpretation of a Classic

This movie is a great modern rendition of the classic musical/play and does a very good job of being relatable to the children and teenagers of today. You can waste time complaining about people of color portraying FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, or just enjoy the film and worry about other more important things (I prefer the latter).

I like all versions of Annie and this one is no different. Great update of a classic that doesn't take away from other versions. This version is what I like to call normalizing entertainment, where diversity is commonplace and looks like much of the rest of the world :) Great performances!

This was a very nice updated remake of the classic movie/play Annie! My 7yr old girl loved it and we picked up the combo pack for all our various devices. The original will always be better, but its a nice refresh for a different generation, and keeps the title relevant once again! Def a good purchase for family time.

We bought the DVD after watching the old Annie recently. We were also getting ready to go see the Annie play performed by our children's old school. The DVD was a modern take on the old classic, the new music is very catchy and the plot is modern. All and all a good interpretation.

Annie is s cute movie and a great family movie night movie to watch. I love the remake of the movie. I was a little concerned it wouldn't be as good as the pervious Annie but this movie held it's own. Get a tissue there are a few moments that will bring a tear to your eye (s).

I'm usually not a fan of remakes (but as the subject line says) it works well. Fun, recession era versus depression era of the original kinda takes the desperate need out of the remake so they add another character twist I didn't feel it needed but all in all enjoyable if not a bit too sure of itself

This is a good, updated version of a classic story. The movie was obviously predictable, but kept my attention. The only reason it did not get that 5th star from me is because I keep my kids pretty sheltered and the drunk scenes were a bit uncomfortable to explain even though they are school age.
