Does what it design to do
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the APC UPS system. The display with different settings and monitors is a nice plus. Have had several lightning strikes that knocked out power for short time and the UPS kept the equipment up and running. Got is on sale. This is the best time to purchase.

Upgrade UPS for my computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plus: Stand-up design takes less under-desk space. Minus: doesn't have any more plug-ins than a smaller unit. Bummer! Still, didn't disappoint so much that I returned it, and have been pleased with APC product I've owned before. Obviously, since I bought another when my old one finally gave up the ghost.

Backup battery for your home/office computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a beast of an UPS. It has a battery adequate for the most rigorous home/work workstation (for me, I run a Dell T3500 Precision workstation and Macbook Air off the unit at work). This unit features a fancy LED display that allows you to see the voltage coming in, load, battery life, etc. It also features mute buttons so you can disable alarms when they go off (or if the battery is starting to die). The included software also gives you extra features, like measuring how "green" you are, how sensitive you want the power supply to be, and complete logging. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because, out of the half-dozen or so I've bought in the last 4-5 years, many had to be replaced at the 3 year mark. I realize this is the expected life capacity of the internal batteries, but the way they failed made them COMPLETELY useless. At ~$150, that's kind of a sore point for me.

Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4/5 Because even though it's awesome and all, the program crashes when you close it and is written in a lame language (.NET). Very minor but all the features work well and it's not a serious crash (closing it anyways). It has tripped a few times already from variance in the voltage (the reason I got it) and worked across 2 blackouts. No longer will my computer reboot without my permission or come back from work with it being "half on" from a flash blackout or a brown out. Keeps all the stats of when it tripped, how much wattage you are using (from LCD display or through software), etc etc. Really neat stuff.

Perfect for home or small business use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.after doing some research online I chose this ups because it gave me the ability to protect several devices without overloading the ups. It also comes with software to safely power down computers and servers , a perfect fit for home or small business . In addition u can plug a light to the unit in the event of a power outage

Supplies power
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For my set-up (PC, Monitor, Modem, ext drive) the draw is 140W which it reports a duration of 33 min run time (W/O Power). I did have hybernation wake up issues after installing the powerchute software. Un-installed it and back to normal now, but also no auto shutdown alert :( Not an issue I guess since we loose power from time to time, but only a blip.

Great basic battery backup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this little fella for keeping my router and computer on because we have a lot of power outages in my area. It's proven it's worth multiple times, and keeps my equipment running for about 40 minutes when everything is on. The automatic shutoff features are a little finicky to setup, so I do not use them.

Great UPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have an office full of 20+ of these UPS's. They work well with 2 Monitors, CPU, etc., and will give a charge of 30+ minutes before dying. If you live anywhere where lightning is a possiblity, I'd recommend APC. The software does have issues with certain Dell computers but the UPS work as expected.

good hardware, not so great -optional- software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup without PowerChute is easy, the display is nice and there are plenty of connections in the back. I opted to create an account, register etc. to get the PowerChute software and was disappointed with its very basic functionality. A txt or Email alert would be a very handy feature.

Works well, easy to use, a little pricey.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two, one for home office and one for entertainment center. It is easy to install and works really well. I chose over others due to there being four powered outlets instead of three on other brands.

Working good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a previous APC back system and it worked great! It lasted about 7 years and I never had a problem, hopefully this new one will last also. I think the feature that keeps the power from fluctuating was a HUGE factor in my old computer being so reliable

Sufficient for most home networking applications
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 5-year old 1500va APC was dead and I needed a new backup for my home network's broadband modem and router. This 1080va was on sale for almost $100 less than the 1500va model and I didn't see the need to spend another $100 just to provide extended runtime for my modem, router, and PC. Our neighborhood has had 3 power outages in the last three months due to severe weather and so far this unit has performed as expected during the three outages (the longest one lasted a couple of hours).

A bit pricy but good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good solid case and narrow profile. I'm actually using this on my DVR so we don't miss our shows. For this application some outlets on the side of the device would make installation easier.

More technical backup system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit I bought was a little more difficult to setup than I was expecting. I have not had a power outage or surge since I installed the unit so I can't say how it did until I have an outage or surge. It comes with software that allows one to setup criteria for how one would handle surges and outages. I had to call tech support to get help getting the software downloaded correctly. The support agent was knowledgeable and friendly. She got me operational in 10 minutes.
