Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a fantastic return to the roots of the series that combines classic Assassin's Creed lore and structure with a fresh new leveling and combat system. Set in the beautiful streets of London, the sights and sounds of the open world are hard to beat.
The game introduces a new two-character story which plays nicely throughout, allowing players to switch freely between either character in most parts of the game.
The missions are fresh while maintaining the classic structure we love from the best games of the series.
The different side activities in the game keep you busy and provide plenty of loot to upgrade your characters equipment and skill.
Carriage controls are tight and responsive providing an extra fun element to the game. Added also was the grappling line which is fluid and while not quite as fun as Batman's, it definitely speeds up climbing to high places.
If you sat this out because of Unity, fear not, this game is leaps and bounds better and way well go down as the 3rd best in the franchise.

This is a great game for hardcore fans of the Assassin's Creed series. There's not much deviation from the formula here: historic location, tie-ins to historic figures (with the expected artistic liberties of tying Assassin relationships to them), viewpoints, liberation missions, etc.
The additions are few, but welcome. You will switch off regularly between two Assassins in this game. While this sounds promising, there isn't much difference gameplay-wise. Outside of a couple unique upgrades, they play similar. You'll really get more out their differences as characters in the context of the story than you will choosing one or the other for a specific mission. This is fine, but having to upgrade each separately can prove tedious.
You will establish and develop a gang as your ally base in Syndicate, which can be a great help. At times, however, their willingness to combat the enemy without direction from you can cause stealth issues and prevent you from performing some specific kills (for those who are completionists and want those secondary objectives). Overall, though, it's a nice tool to have at your disposal and upgrading them early makes life much easier.
For those who tire of the climbing portions of the game: fear not. You are provided, very early, with a grappling hook that allows quick climbing and traversing building-to-building. This is a huge help when detected and trying to escape, as climbing usually resulted in a bullet in the back. It's also a lifesaver on time-driven missions and side activities. There will be some gripes that it's too Batman-esque, but it really does help in some critical situations.
I was disappointed in the modern day sequences. I had come to enjoy being able to interact in the modern settings in these games and it offered a nice break from the grind of the historic settings. However, that was removed in Unity, and it again fails to appear in Syndicate. There is a slight increase in the number of modern cutscenes from Unity, but you still get no control in them. That change of feel would have been welcome.
Overall, this is a solid title and a great addition to any fans of the series. At this point, you know what you're getting with an Assassin's title, and this doesn't disappoint that expectation. Those who are looking for a radically different game: stay clear, this is not for you. Syndicate continues the Assassin's canon while offering familiar gameplay and mechanics.

Assassins Creed Back to FUN!

So this is the most fun I had playing Assassins Creed since AC IV Black Flag. This game goes back to some fundamentals that made the series fun to play. It doesn't have multiplayer which is fine as it has a lot of missions on the side that are fun to play plus a lot of great characters to interact with for side missions. The game runs pretty well plus the twin sibling aspect is fun as well as you can switch between the two in free-roam, plus each chapter has character specific missions for you to play.
The games doesn't suffer from the glitches of Unity which is wonderful, because Unity was graphically beautiful but the glitches plus the co-op aspect took away from the main story line of the game. This is a fun game plus the Jack the Ripper DLC is a new take on the gameplay which was making me question my morals haha, but fun.
Overall, amazing game in the series and needs to be played, plus it ties up the whole larger story line a little better than Unity and Rogue did. But you get tie-ins to the 'North American Saga'. Play this if you enjoy Assassin's Creed.

After last year's subpar entry into the series, Syndicate breathes some fresh air into the Assassin's Creed series. It introduces fun, new mechanics such as the grappling hook, train hideouts, and gang wars. Also new is the character progression system, where you can upgrade and pick skills to make the twins deadlier. Story is good so far, nothing too impactful but nothing to complain about. Ubisoft also got rid of locked chests that were in AC: Unity and fixed the bugs that plagued the previous entry. They also got rid of multiplayer completely in this entry. All in all, AC: Syndicate is a solid, but not too spectacular game that will hook you with its gameplay and setting. It's well worth the money that you pay for.

Let me start by saying this Assassin's Creed game is the closest to Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. The game play is engaging, the story is interesting and play as two assassins is fun since each offer different strengths. You can switch which between the brother and sister team any time during open world play. You even skill points to upgrade each of them in the ways that align to your play style. Exploring London is fun and exciting with the addition of a zip line attachment for your hidden blade. If you have been a fan since the beginning or jumped in around Assassin's Creed 2 or brotherhood than you will for sure love this game.

This game is bug-free in my experience, the story is great, the characters are interesting, the interaction with historical figures is solid as always. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is a well-made apology for the buggy release that was Assassin's Creed Unity. It may not have dethroned Black Flag or Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, but it has certainly earned its place in my better memories of the games in the AC franchise.

Even tho this is the 9th AC game I do love a change of scenery. Being in London is pretty cool. Being able to play twins is actually pretty awesome. I would say this is a pretty good game, they definitely did a great job designing London, graphics are nice as always, story is interesting as usual. I am ready for it all to come to an end soon and see what happens between Assassins and Templars in the present time.

I love Assassin's Creed. I've played all of them with the exception of the PS Vita versions and the first Assassin's Creed (I didn't like that one very much) and this was a nice change of pace. I like how it was in the old days of London but more modern and the fact that you had to do things with two different Assassin's even a third at some point is crazy. I love it.

As the series continues the worlds become, more detailed and the characters have more personality. The gameplay is becoming more refined to pick up and play and the missions are more varied than earlier games. You get to play as two characters. One character relies on stealth while the other is more of a brawler which switches up things. The city is beautifully rendered and detailed as this game takes place in 1880's London where the developers had actual photographs to work from. Another new addition is a grapling hook which is a nice Batman like change. In order to keep the framerate desirable the NPCs are less dense in populated areas than Unity which may make Unity feel like a step back. I feel like Black Flag is the best game to start in this series but, this is a close second. I would also recommend that if you enjoyed playing this game after you finish it to check out Unity if you haven't already. It had a buggy start but, doesn't have the reputation anymore it deserves after the patches. I went back and was surprised how good it was after everyone bashed it. It makes me sad to see that game in the discount bin and I recommend you playing that after you play this. Play this or Black Flag first though as these are more accessible. Once your done with that I would highly suggest to check out unity. I hope this review helps! :)

After Assassins Creed Unity, i think Ubisoft as built a reputation for "rushing" out these games every year. But with multiple studios working on these games, giving them years of effort, along with the feedback they've received from critics on Unity, I really think Ubisoft struck something great with AC Syndicate. The world is beautiful and easily traversed. Additions like Horse Carriages and Zip-lines make getting around quicker, and the landscape of Victorian London will always give you something great to look at. Combat is easy to pick up and perks make fighting really fun. The story is neat, giving you access to two different, very likable assassins, a brother and sister who have two different takes to the same situation. Overall, it just seems like Ubisoft found what works and cut what doesn't. This game works on all levels, really no bugs, which is shocking compared to how glitchy Unity was, and seems like the world is so expansive, it will keep explorers busy for weeks. I am very satisfied with AC Syndicate and can't wait to get back to playing.

While the controls and free running are still the same as in Unity which isn't a good thing and in some ways, a little worse, the rest of the game is excellent. Looks good, great music, good story, solid characters and a lot of stuff in the game is fun to go through. For me, a 9/10 and worth playing.

Syndicate is a big, meaty, Assassin’s Creed game, harking back to the glory days of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. London is huge – a larger open world than Unity’s Paris – and crammed with stuff to do. What’s more, the main systems have never been slicker. Combat is fast-paced and challenging, with a lot of emphasis on counters, but you can use the upgrade system to make your life easier, and the game cleverly tags opponents and missions so that you can gauge whether you’ve levelled-up enough to take them on. The core climbing and parkour stuff is cleaner than it was in Unity, too. While you’ll still find yourself accidentally clinging to a building when you’re meant to be dashing towards a timed objective

The game is Assassin's Creed, you already know the game will be just like the others. But Assassin's Creed is great and that's why we keep coming back. It's an improvement over last years Unity. Map is beautiful, like always. But this game feels more of a complete title over the last one. Better story for sure and less bugs/glitches. Unity was like the "Quantum of Solace" of AC games. Just felt out of place. You can free aim your weapons again, oh and uh, WHISTLE again to attract enemies, like in every previous titles! Don't know where that was last time? Syndicate brings you back to the core feeling of AC. Overall, good quality game. Nothing that will blow you away but you'll have fun.

I personally don't see the hate the series gets as a whole. No series has entries that are flawless or awesome everytime. And maybe playing certain ones later than others meant a fix to issues was already implimented. That's why everyone said they were skipping this and for me to as well....
I didn't. And it's probably the most interesting one in terms of story though AC3 is still my personal favorite all around, maybe because that was my first one... either way, definately a solid entry for the franchise, would've been 4 1/2 stars but it won't let me leave 1/2 stars. It's not flawless but it's really good.

After my experience with Unity last year I questioned pre ordering this. I got though the training missions and sure enough ran right into a number of weird glitches and the occasional ability not to complete missions because of them even with the 1.11 update installed. Overall the game is fun (very much like every other installment of this game) I have about 12hrs into it at this point and its playable with the glitches but can be a bit frustrating at times. I would suggest holding out for a few more months to allow them to work out the issues.

I awaited the reviews and saw the scores of 9 on average on major gaming websites. And boy they're accurate. I'd say there's just about no bugs that I've noticed. Whomever experienced playing AC unity on the other hand, that's a different story (still many glitches and bugs after the updates).
This game just only had one update but for sure there will be just few updates as needed. I like how you can switch to either the female or male character at anytime.
So far I'm enjoying this a lot, way better than AC unity

This is one of the best Assassin's Creed games in a while, but still has a lot of the same elements, not a whole lot has changed. Story is good, graphics are good. The overall Assassin's Creed series is a bit overdone so for me I was hoping for more, but with preorder bonus and gamer's unlocked, it was worth the price I paid. I'd give it 5, but it's not quite good enough for capture my attention to where I don't want to stop playing, to me a 5 star game has to have a lot of replay value or be hard to put down.
