As a huge fan of platformers i can say with confidence that this goes above and beyond. As a huge Mario Galaxy fan this scratches the itch I have been having for a while. From the power-ups that make me feel invincible and enjoy button mashing, to the unique levels that are vibrant and eye catching. With more than 300 bots and items to collect the game rewards you for exploring levels and doesn’t make it feel overwhelming. There’s so much more to the game that makes it amazing but i wont spoil it in my review. Especially in the levels where you get to use some of the abilities of your favorite PlayStation stars! I only wish that game is longer but other than that amazing job Team Asobi! I hope to see this game at the game awards this year!

I had so much fun with this game. It’s simple to pick up and play and greatly encourages completion. Every level has it’s own distinct theme in both scenery and music. It’s visually pleasing and the songs are nicely composes. Considering that you’re also travelling to different galaxies and planets, it pretty much serves as Sony’s version of Mario Galaxy. The collectibles serve as a nice PlayStation history lesson, which is gimmicky, but it is respectible. Even though it’s not a long game, you’ll still enjoy your time with it. Any PS5 owner should play this.

Astro Bot is the best 3D platformer I've played since Super Mario Odyssey. It's colorful and gorgeous, cute, and tons of fun (So fun that I've already played it to 100% completion on all 3 save files). As well as very challenging in some stages. This game is also a love letter to everything on Playstation. If you own a Playstation 5, this is a must-have for your game library.

I had high hopes for this game when I saw that it was coming out and I can say after playing the game in its entirety it has exceeded those expectations. Astro Bot is a joy to play, watch be played and even just listen to given the great soundtrack. For someone who has played Nintendo games his whole life Astro Bot can be easily be compared to those great platformers. Even if you are not a big Playstation fan you owe it to yourself to play this game. It is just fun. Each level is unique and builds on itself as you progress though the game. There are various mechanics you'll be introduced to that will keep you in your toes and always saying, what's next? The length of the game is great and does not overstay its welcome nor does it lack on content. Once you have finished the base game the developer has added challenging new levels that add more fun and bots to collect. If you own a Playstation 5 you need this game.

One of the best platforming games of all time. On the level of Mario's best, with as much character and charm as the best of them, and some of the tightest controls and unique and inspired levels/power ups that just put a smile on your face.
The mainline levels are easy enough for children, but there are plenty of very challenging levels per "world", as well as special challenge levels and speed run levels for you if you like a good challenge. There is plenty of content for both the casual and the hardcore platforming fans.
If you're a Playstation fan, or have a any Playstation history, the nostalgia is AAA+

Astro Bot is an absolute delight from start to finish. It’s bursting with charm, color, and creativity—every level feels like a love letter to PlayStation fans. The gameplay is tight and satisfying, the visuals are stunning, and the use of the DualSense controller is probably the best I’ve experienced so far. It’s not just a tech demo anymore—this is a full-on platforming masterpiece. Whether you're a longtime gamer or playing with your kids, this game is a must-have for any PS5 owner!

It's very rare that a game holds my 7 year old's attention for more than a few hours, ans I was hesitant to get this game because I thought it was just be a minor continuation of the freeone that came with the PS5 but i was weong. It's a compeltely new game with lots of fun stuff to find. The secrets sre challenging enough to be fun to find but not too hard to where a kid can't find them. There are a lot of fun collectibles and the level design is awesome. There's a bunch of unique game mechanics and power ups. There's no complicated story or cutscenes, it's a simple yet fun game for all ages. I haven't beaten it myself yet since my daughter will not get off and let me play lol. The game could probably be 100%ed in about 8-10 hours by a seasoned player but my kid has been playing for about 16 hours and is about halfway, so for that alone i think it's worth it.

This is one of the best platformers ever made! Great visuals, great soundtrack, super responsive controls, addictive, and a very quality made game. If you’re a big Playstation fan then you will get hit with nostalgia from the bots you rescue from each level!! If you have played the free PS5 pack in game Astro’s Playroom, and wanted more, then this is exactly what you’re looking for. Its Astro’s Playroom but made into a full fledged game and its even better and more improved. There’s a reason this is the highest rated game of 2024! I highly recommend it

I had feared platformers coming from non Nintendo AAA companies were gone, but doing Astro’s Playroom as a pack in game with the PS5, and that being so popular that they developed a full Astro Bot game, I think those fears are gone after the game won Game of the Year. So many cool concepts for traversal. Beautiful levels. The haptic feel coming from the controllers cannot be over stated. This and Astro’s Playroom are the only games out there fully taking advantage of the PS5 controller’s capabilities. There’s even a speaker in the controller that plays just the right amount of sound, and knows when to play sound, and more importantly when not to.

Love the game, sound, visual, gameplay mechanics. The music is really amazing! I have the soundtrack on my playlist. There’s a lot of PlayStation iconic characters that I grew up with and seeing them put a big smile on my face. I beat the game 100%. Definitely recommend this if you wanna see your old childhood game characters and have a blast playing.

I was a big fan of Astro's Playroom, the pack in demo game that comes with every PS5. So when I saw that it was getting a full game, I was excited. But I was not expecting to be absolutely bkown away by how excellent this game is. Everything about just kept a smile on my face everytime I booted it up. Its easy to play, fun, full of cameos from other games that keeps you guessing of "who else is in this game?". Kids and adults can enjoy this title, and its my personal game of the year.

Easy to see why this won Game of the Year. I don't play my PS5 much, but there definitely are some gems on there, including this one. It's fun for everyone and provides a good challenge while not being overly difficult.

I’m about halfway into the game and so far it has been a constant blast! The game itself is incredibly creative with its gimmicks and worlds. The music is a joy, the platforming feels smooth and responsive, and the level design is immersive and fun. Highly recommend Astro Bot for those who have a love for platform genre games or really anyone who is looking for a genuine fun time! There are tons of references to Sony’s video game history that will make anyone smile! I hope Sony keeps this up!

Astrobot looks, plays, and overall runs very similar to the previous game Astrobot's Playroom (the free demo on PS5). If you liked the previous game, you would like this one. Graphically they look the same, performance is very smooth, and the game makes use of the DualSense controller haptics. The game adds some new abilities which change up the gameplay however they can be pretty similar. To nitpick the game, a couple of the new abilities do the same rocket propelled movement albeit one makes you go up and the other propels you forward. There isn't much variety, and you'll have one of them per level if you have one at all. The character move set is the same as before and a bit limited. You get the same laser double jump and the same swing attack. The main levels throughout the game are easy and provide checkpoints to respawn at if you die. The challenge levels have a higher spike of difficulty. They don't have any checkpoints, and you must restart from the beginning any time you die. The game has a lot of levels, but about halfway through it starts to get repetitive due to the easier nature of the game and the small amount of abilities.
