I upgraded from an older Gateway computer that had a dual core AMD processor and Windows Vista.
This computer is very fast, not a lot of bloatware, super quiet and looks great on the desk.
I like ASUS because they are leaders in the gaming motherboard industry so I know they know their stuff and don't do stupid things.
The only disappointment was the salesman kept overselling how fast the processor and GPU are as if they are faster than the new 4th gen Intel i5 processors which is not true. He said a lot of stuff (not knowing I used to sell PCs retail for 10 years) that was incorrect or made up but I liked it for the price $479 and bought it anyway.
The processor is a year old and not comparable to the fastest Intel 4th generation processors but for my needs right now, mostly website design (Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc) and MS Office and surfing the internet it's fine.
I'm hoping since it's an ASUS I'll be able to upgrade the processor and get a fast gaming video card at a later time.
For now I just needed a new computer in this price range for a small business (my old computer was way too slow and would shut off sometimes when accessing email in Outlook 2007) but wanted to play older games I already have such as StarCraft II.
The old computer was too slow to play StarCraft II at a smooth speed but this computer plays it fine at medium settings.
So far I'm very satisfied with it and Win 8.1 is actually fun to use since you have three launch windows you can toggle back and forth between to access programs or files.

Came loaded with Windows 8...alothough ssytem was fast and smooth, I still prefer Windows 7. Loaded with Win7 and installed an SSD drive...it simply is amazing with launching apps and playing games. I use it mostly for playing Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls. The video card had to be replaced to support the game, very sluggish with onboard ATI graphics card. Went with a mid-level NVidia GeForce card (less tahn $100), works great!

bought this Asus as a basic home desktop to edit photos using photo shop and light room 5. I runs these fine. There is of coarse bloat ware that is annoying and often wants you to install or update which I wont. This is my first AMD computer and it does pretty well. For the price this computer will do everything I need it to do util I get to my own build. This should run everything except for the most graphically taxing games and even then with proper adjustments I think it still would do OK. For the money you cannot go wrong.

not the best computer by far but it comes with just enough to run games easily that aren't to graphic heavy (crysis, battle field, etc.). but can easily run popular games like League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and Starcraft 2. I personally have had a bit of trouble running Diablo 3 even on low settings...

I bought this computer 2 months ago and I have not had any issues period. This computer is perfect for anyone looking for a great computer for a decent price. I looked everywhere in town and I mean I researched nonstop trying to get a deal and I came down to two stores, Best Buy or Sam's Club. Both had good computers, but for just 40 dollars more I could get twice as much memory and hard drive capacity as well as a faster processor with Best Buy. Yeah, I knew my heart was with Best Buy on this one. As soon as walked in I talked to a couple of associates and the service they gave me was above and beyond what I was expecting. There knowledge and care pointed me to this computer I can not thank them enough, but I will always come back to Best Buy for my electronic needs. Thank You!

I tried an all-in-one computer as an upgrade from my old XP tower, and it worked great for less than two weeks and then completely died. I was able to return it, and chose this ASUS instead. This computer has performed excellently, and was at a good price for my needs (word processing, spreadsheets, school work, etc, and some internet games).
The front USB ports are right above the DVD tray, so they are a bit in the way when using the DVD, but that is only a minor inconvenience.

The Best Buy sales rep recommended this system as great for gaming due to processor and other techie stuff but it is also great for general use including school work, internet use, etc.

I got off to a slow start, but have more time now and am getting things set up - mostly on my own (which I am very proud of , at my age of 76!!).

This desktop has been running 24/7, I have it go into sleep mode after 15 of no activity, and it has been running great. I use Office, Quickbooks, Internet and a few scanning programs. The desktop is extremely responsive and with 8 GB of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive it can handle having all of my programs open and I'll be able to saving every document without worrying about running out of space anytime soon. I really like this desktop. I have used a lot of ASUS products and all of them have been extremely solid. I would recommend this desktop to anyone for small office use or average usage. Products like Adobe Photoshop will work but it takes awhile to render or process larger items due to the video card.

My intention was to buy a computer for gaming. This computer strikes a good balance between power and price. There are definitely more powerful computers if you're willing to spend more money, but this one is good for what you pay.

This CPU has thus far turned out to be everything the salesperson said. This is my first non-Intel purchase. It's easy to use, fast and efficient when using several applications at once.

Real happy with this computer! I am absolutely no expert but I have had a lot of popular brand computers, so I was hesitant to take the chance on this one. Read good reviews and have to agree. Be aware, though, that I'm upgrading from a 7 year old (give or take) computer. The only down side is easily fixed. It comes with a nice keyboard but it is all black with low contrast lettering; a bit of an issue - particularly when passwords need to be an increasingly complicated mix of letters, numbers and symbols and you need to watch what your doing to enter one right. Of course, I could always turn a light on.

Bought this tower solely on the BBY rep recommendation. Very happy I listened to him. This machine is as fast as it is pretty. I bought a new desktop in preparation of Windows 10 and for the short time I've got to play with it using Windows 8, it hasn't disappointed me. The Best Buy listing of this says it has a Blu-Ray player, which is doesn't. Also, the wired mouse and wired keyboard seem out-dated for this price range of a computer. Great Buy in my opinion!

I chose this computer based on the reviews I read. I am very pleased so far:
I recorded a jam session of ours on an app on my phone made a digital copy and burned a disc.......great, and in my opinion paid for the setup right there
downloaded and am now playing a popular rp game with the wife online and once I changed a few things (easy) the graphics are really good
it browses the interwebs very fast while still running other features

Purchased this model at a very good price at a local Best Buy and I'm extremely happy with it. It can power through most tasks with ease, and can even handle some gaming needs. Great for someone on a budget who needs just a little bit more power.

It is still too early to predict long term reliability but so far, everything has been good. Very fast. I don't like the keyboard as it's difficult to see in low light. It needs a better set up guide than included with the product.

So far I have not been able to get around in Windows 8.1. At this time I have absolutely nothing good to say. Other than that, the computer itself is great. No complaints. The associate was very helpful and knowledgeable.
