I thought Asus would be a good Brand, but was sorely disappointed when I opened the packaging. I was wanting to take it back but can't cuz of COVID going on!! I was so upset when I noticed it takes 2 USB ports just to hook it up! I would have never purchased it IF I had only known this. Stay away from this one and find one that takes only 1 USB port to run.

The setup CD took me to an Asus site that was primarily in Chinese. Even with the translation, there was no obvious option to get the CD software onto my computer I still haven't gotten it to work.

Worst piece of electronics I have ever bought. I put a music CD in and the drive loaded it. It does not recognize their is a disc loaded nor will it eject the disc. As I can longer return it, I will have to destroy the drive to get my CD back. Note to others: it requires 2 USB ports to run the drive at all. I will never purchase an ASUS product and I recommend no one else does either.
We certainly understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if the optical disc drive cannot detect a music CD.
To resolve the issue, please verify if the computer meets the system requirements of the drive. If it does, check if the PC is running with the most current OS update and the latest chipset driver, and a media player application was installed. Also, please verify if the optical disc drive was connected properly from the computer to the drive's USB port.

No Older DVDs?

Maybe it is me, but I cannot get this device to play older DVD's. And as other ppl have said the cord is WAY too short.

I wish i could this item a corner of a star, i was reading the review on this item being compatible, to work for window 10, this is not true, it does not work with window 10. Neither does lg external drive

I got this item because I need to read DVD-RAM. This is one of very few items available that claim to read that format. However, when I put in the disks, the drive won't recognize the disk and reports "No disk inserted." Disk is not corrupt, can read it with a very old player, but looking to import into computer.

The drive does what I need it to do. Its seems cheaply made and its pretty noisy but it works just fine.

It would not read a DVD. Returned to Best Buy. They refunded quickly to my account.

Burned 5 or 6 dvds and it stopped working, seemed like the laser burned out
