They appreciate the long battery life and performance of the laptop, as well as its portability and lightweight design. Good machine, Asus Customer Service not so good

I'm happy with this machine. But I had to be careful since I hadn't shopped for a laptop in a few years.
More machines aren't upgradable these days in order to make mroe compact and lighter machines. I specifically bought this machine because components can be upgraded.
The Q302LA starts with 6GB of RAM, expandable to 12GB. There's a heat shield over the RAM and it's not obvious that it simply lifts off. I called Asus customer service and all they'd tell me is that if I upgrade the RAM I'll void my warranty (some sources say that's not true).
One customer service rep said that the shield is there to restrict tampering with the computer's internal components. Again, not true.
The RAM configuration is
- 4GB are soldered to the motherboard and cannot be changed.
- A 2GB stick that can be changed. So, a single 8GB stick is necessary to max out at 12GB.

I bought this computer one month ago as a replacement of an older Toshiba laptop running WIndows 7. I delayed my purchase because I was scared by the reviews of Windows 8 and I stuck with my old laptop until the poor thing couldn't keep up anymore. I regret waiting so long because I've had no problem making the transition to Windows 8.1. I'm not a fan of all of those apps but I can ignore them by simply working through the familiar desktop which is easily located. As for the computer, it's turning out to be a great little laptop. the Intel Core i3 is incredibly fast and Windows loads (and shuts down) in mere seconds. The battery last between 6-7 hours (which is great) and the computer runs cool with very little fan noise. The display is sharp enough for my needs and the sound is adequate. The only thing that really annoyed me at first was the brightness of the display (not bright enough) which I easily adjusted by turning off the "adaptive brightness" settings under the advanced settings in the power options. So far, I've been using this computer as a regular laptop and I haven't used the tablette feature much. But, so far, the hinges seem to work OK and the keyboard disables/enables easily and without fuss. The touch screen seems to work well and responsive (no complaint). The computer is fairly light. The metal frame makes it feel solid and not fragile. I've tested the video camera through Skype and it gives sharp images. It's my 1st ASUS computer and I've been really impressed by the simplicity of the set up (FYI, I've owned DELL, Toshiba and HP until now). So, all in all, I'm really impressed and very satisfied by this computer. That said, please note that my needs are modest. I use my laptop mostly for email, MS-Office work, web surfing, watching Netflix and Skype.

Initially weary of touchscreen laptops, I did not set out to purchase this. Originally, I was going to purchase a relatively similar non-touchscreen Asus laptop with more harddrive space, however that was not in stock (neither was my original backup) so with the fact that I needed a laptop that night for school, I went with this touchscreen laptop. Setup was incredibly easy, and this laptop is relatively user friendly (though I do admit I hate windows 8 homescreen icon where start menu used to be, but that is no real fault of the laptop, just the OS). This laptop is actually quite fast, quiet, and has a lot of functions that I would of never thought of. The fact that this functions as both a laptop and a tablet is much more of a blessing than a curse, and the fact that I can seriously set it up like an A frame and watch shows without having to support it up by myself (and no worries about a cat hopping on the keyboard). I have managed to play some games on here like the Sims 3! So while it may not be perfect (battery life, and a slightly clumsy OS), I will say that if you manage to get this laptop on sale like I did, it truly is a great deal and you will likely love it.

I've never owned a mac but one of the reasons i even considered one was because of its sleek appearance and it's portability. So if you're looking for a mac appearance and feel this is a great choice for half the price! Plus it has the touchscreen and it turns into a tablet which is a really cool feature. It also has a decent battery life around 4-5 hours and that's with using it. It's also very responsive, doesn't lag. Windows 8 takes some time getting used to but I actually prefer it and it's not as complicated as it may seem.
The only negatives I've found so far is that sometimes if you swipe your finger too fast on the touch pad it changes screens which can get kind of annoying if you weren't wanting to do that. I'm also pretty sure there's a feature to change that.
My only other complaint is that the 2nd day i had it I turned it on and it was stuck with a black screen and I had to reboot it and wipe it clean again. But ever since then it's been working perfectly. So that could have been due to some virus I stupidly downloaded in my impatience at having my computer have all the stuff I wanted on it. So just be warned.

I travel a lot and need to use my computer on the go for research and publications. this laptop is relatively fast and small enough to use on plane flights but screen large enough and good resolution for reading papers and for reviewing photos. touch screen is nice extra. great value for the price.
only thing I do not like is the windows 8.1 op system. a rediculous downgrade from previous windows versions. Otherwise great.

What can you say? i3, 6GB of Ram and it's a 2-in-1 that offers the flexibility of a tablet mode and a laptop mode. When the free Windows 10 upgrade hits next year making the switching even better, I can only imagine.
This performs like a mid-high end laptop. Perfect for my HS daughter who doesn't play heavy games (Minecraft, Age of Empires), but does a lot of writing (Word, Publisher) and research (several tabs of Firefox). Works as expected for an i3 with 6 GB of RAM.

The Asus - Flip 2-in-1 13.3 Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 6GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Aluminum Black has god sped for home or work, I use it for games mainly, but when I need to update or create documents, create power point, the speed stays the same. The resolution is very clear and takes great photos. It came with Windows 10, also the computer/tablet works as a tablet with same speed when in PC mode. U think you will enjoy using the laptop at home or on the go, touch screen is great as I am disabled and enjoy these ease use of touch screen.

Love love this computer. It's light, easy to take on the road, and super fast for my purposes which is basically word processing, internet and netflix. My only issue is the speakers are not loud enough. if there is any background noise it is very difficult to hear. touch screen works well though I find I don't use it as much as I thought I would. Overall great for reasonable price.

I am so pleased with my new laptop. I have not had a bit of trouble with it. I had 2 netbooks before. I forgot how nice a laptop can be. This one folds over to a tablet. It works fine. I am constantly picking it up to show my husband something. It folds over instantly and keys lock. I use onscreen keyboard if I have to. The toughscreen is great. Practically everything of mine is a toughscreen. It makes it simpler for me. Once you have a touchscreen, you will never want anything else.

While it is still a bit big for a tablet, it is a much better size than a laptop if you want to carry it with you when you travel. I like the versatility. Do wish it had both a front and rear facing camera.
I have not used Windows 8 before and still would prefer Windows 7. I am trying to learn it. Not ready to move up to Windows 10 until it has been more tried. I understand there is a way to make Windows 8 act like Windows 7 and I may end up doing that.
I have had it for a few weeks now and have not had any problems with it.
It has a decent battery life. Not as good as the previous small laptop I had, but doable.
I like the keyboard better than my last smaller laptop.
I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for something smaller for carrying while traveling.

Love being able to use the touch screen instead of a mouse pad. Especially with Windows 8. My touch screen stopped working randomly but after searching the help pages of Microsoft online I found the answer, hopefully it doesn't go out again. Computer is pretty fast working but I also don't use it for business or video gaming.... mostly school work, music, and browsing the internet.

I've had this laptop for about a week now. I've been a Mac user for the past 10 years, but switching to Windows 10 has not been too bad. The laptop is very light and the foldable screen is more useful than I thought it would be. The screen is not very bright and the speakers are not very loud, but you expect that from a small-ish laptop in this price range. (I have not been able to pair it with an older Bluetooth speaker, but I'm not sure why that is.) The laptop looked more solid and better constructed than some of the others I looked at in the store. I got it at an open-box price, and I think it's worth that. I don't know if I would have bought it at the original price... It is a good basic computer for web use, watching Netflix, etc,

my husband has really like this computer so far. the screen can move 360 so it can fold back behind the keyboard and be held and used like a tablet (much like the lenovo yoga). we have had an issue and had to send it to best buy to hopefully get it fixed. so far the process of having geek squad try to fix has been really easy.

This computer does everything I need it to do. It is light and portable. The 2 in 1 feature is nice as well. Makes reading things a little easier than trying to scroll through the pages in the horizontal aspect. It is reasonably fast and the screen clarity is good as well.

I tried a Lenovo 2-n-1 for school and had so many problems with it. On recommendation from TJ at Best Buy, I chose the Asus and it works perfect! It does not lose battery fast, plenty of memory and speed, thanks TJ!

I bought the Asus to replace my laptop and the primary function is to use it for my military work, email and classes. The PROS are the solid construction, 500mb storage space of which I still have 400mb left, the multiple ports, the versatility to use it as a tablet when viewing TM's and other military manuals, and Windows 8.1 for its ease of working with govt programs. The CONS include a seemingly lower battery life than expected, the learning curve in using Windows 8.1, and the overall weight when in tablet mode (due to the sturdy construction, trade off).
This 2 in 1 buy after a month seems well worth it. The price was cheaper than the Surface 3 with more storage space and a better contruction. The battery life is acceptable but not outstanding. I am still learning 8.1 and how to interact with it.
Overall this was a solid buy that I expect to last for years to come.

Bought this laptop for my 16 year old daughter. She loves it! It is a well built and sturdy piece of equipment. She loves the touchscreen! The associate at Best Buy was very helpful. He spent the better part of 2 hours helping her decide which laptop to purchase! It performs well, and she has had no complaints!
