Solid Machine for Price/Stock Cooling Insufficient

Couple of things you should know before purchasing. The cooling that was fitted on top of the I7 11700K was a type of Evo 212 air cooler. The thermal paste provided is not sufficient for the heat generated by the 11700K. I went with a prebuilt system, hoping to save time associated with part selection and assembly, but ended up opening her up and doing a couple things to finish the job.
During my initial benchmark. The case fan in the back of the computer was preforming a Rocketship demonstration which lead me to temperature checks. I noted temperatures at 100 degrees Celsius, and although I've been out of the overclocking game since the first Athlon 64s, i know 100 degrees Celsius is boiling water.
I purchased a CORSAIR - iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX CPU Cooler, as anything larger would not have fit due to the case size. I had to come up with some engineering(zip ties) to make it fit and will note that you do not need a space heater at your desk with this puppy running.
Current idle temps are in the 30's, internet browsing/game installation in the 50's. Crysis 3 Remaster/WoW full details can see temps in the high 70's. All temps running at 4.9 Ghz.
The RAM provided is an afterthought, single sided dimm, no heat spreader. Slightly disappointing. Get yourself some fancy "insert favorite brand" RBG, you wont regret it.
GPU (ASUS brand) provided no complaints, solid temps in 50's under full load.
Outside of the CPU cooling being the most showstopping issue, ASUS has provided a solid machine for the price point.
New users be sure to watch your temperatures. I would advise anyone to check/reapply the thermal compound, listen for the Rocketship, before putting it under any extended loads.

I've built 4 PC's in the past couple of years and I must say this PC was built with TLC. The packaging was very protective of the PC. The wires were snaked, hidden, zip tied and taped! We checked all the screws as we heard some people say things aren't always tightened or ram not pushed in all the way. There wasn't any of that here. The only con that would make me want to take half a star away is that the case has no room (physically) for expansion. It's so thin that you can't add a AIO cooler for the CPU. It comes with one fan and the heatsink has one fan.... and you can only add two more generic fans because the motherboard only has two more pins. We went into the bios and increased fan speeds to help with the potential cooling issues we forsee, but we will have to buy two more generic fans. There is no room for an HDD there are no brackets to hold one in place. You "could" put one in as the motherboard has the pins for it but it will physically just be hanging there. The only (1) NVMe is being used for this device and it felt like it was thermal pasted to the shield covering it.
TLDR perfect for those that:
Want a quality build
Want great parts NOW for a cheap bundle price
No fuss start it. Literally boots windows 11 on start.
Awesome looking case with very sturdy handle
Cons:
If you plan on pushing the CPU you probably need to buy two more generic fans (cheap)
You should go into bios and adjust fan speed according to load you are putting on CPU too.
Case has limited/no room for expansion (physically) for HDD and AIO cooler (or at least the cheaper $100 AIO I bought).

****** This review is over the 5 days i have owned this desktop. *****
The computer runs pretty nice outside of the CPU overheating. Setting up the computer and updating all programs took roughly 45min. After that i let the computer run idle for about 2 1/2 hours. CPU was running at about 83°c to 90°c. Fan was running loud the entire time. After 4 additional hours of research with windows setting changes to the processor boosts and fan settings showing no sign in cooling off; it finally occurred to me that the thermal paste or fan could be the issue. After removing the Heat sync and fan from the CPU, i was able to determine that the thermal paste was the issue. (Finger prints shown on the top of the unit in the picture are not mine.) After removing and reapplying the thermal paste, it is now running to about 31°-40° idle.
I have built computers in the past so i felt comfortable opening up the computer. Since this seems common issue, i cannot in good faith tag this as a recommended item.
GAMERS: This computer runs these games beautifully on highest settings after thermal paste was reapplied (0 fps drops and 0 heating issues):
-Ffxiv
-World of warcraft
-Satisfactory **heavy on CPU usage. 51°-73°c average**
-Icarus
-Kena: Bridge of spirits **somewhat heavy CPU later in the game. 51°-62°c**
These are all i was able to play over the weekend. Happy hunting!

It is about officially 1 week since I've used this computer. This is actually the 2nd computer since the first one it completely didn't work after plugging in the PC. The HDMI, the USBs, none of those worked except turning on the PC which caused all of the fans to be at maximum speed.
Is this a good computer? Yes, without a doubt. I don't play games on maximum settings, but when I go full ultra it is truly an experience. The biggest issue is the heating. It is constantly at 50C IDLE. LITERALLY DOING NOTHING. Since I am not familiar with the components in the computer, I simply add a secondary external fan that blows cool air into the PC and it still isnt running perfectly.
Whenever I play a game like DOTA2, the fans go at max speed and cause me to worry that something will break or get damaged since this never happened to me with my previous computers.
Overall, I think this was a huge jump from my last purchase of a gaming computer. But I am pathetically disappointed by the craftsmanship of ASUS computers. I've never had a computer this hot before since all of the cases I've had previously were cooler masters with 3 fans running silently and perfectly compared to the roaring jets of this ASUS ROG. The fact that I have to spend $30 on an external fan and not be able to lower the temp is seriously detrimental.
Was it worth it for this piece of equipment? Yes and no. I assumed it was going to be great but turns out there is always a too good to be true scenario where you spend a whole bunch of money and are disappointed by the lack of integrity that ASUS brings to the table compared to their competitors.
I do regret buying this computer and you should definitely reconsider buying anything ASUS ROG computer related.

So initial review of the case it looks nice, a lot of RGB lighting effects unfortunately looks are deceving in this case. The fans are obnoxiously loud probably the loudest I have ever heard so they will definitely need to be replaced. There is only one little intake fan so there is no air coming into the case this is going to have to change. Also the core temperature on the CPU gets well above 100 degrees celcius which is beyond overheating so there is definitely going to have to an AIO installed. The ram used in the PC is a basic/generic ram that will also have to go. Basically what you are paying for in this PC is the GPU & the CPU which isn't the greatest but gets the job done. I haven't taken this case apart yet but have ordered several additions that I will be adding over the coming weeks to allow this rig to come to life.

Dear Frawst,
We'e sorry to hear about the overheating issues you're having with this model. You stated that the fan is loud, is it only when performing a specific task? If the temperature in the room is higher than 80 or 90 degress fahrenheit, we would recommend relocating the PC to lower temperature. Also, sometimes the system may be operating as intended, but the unit is placed on a desk with the monitor or in a location that makes the noise more apparent, we would recommend that you changing the orientaion of the unit so that the vents and fan noise are not directed towards the user, moving the system to a location like under the desk, or moving the unit further from the user if possible. Watch out for any issues at the new location though as mentioned in the previous bullet point. Placing the system under the desk on carpet can block vents under the unit as well as introduce more dust, so additional action may be needed to deal with those possible issues. If the issue persist, we would recommend that you have this model sent in for servicing. For more information send us an email at [email protected] and provide the link of this review for reference. We’ll do our best to provide a quick resolution to your case. Your feedback is important as it helps with improvements to ASUS Support channels. Please copy a link to this post as a reference. Dear Alex,
We do understand your concern with the fan noise and the thermal issues.
It is normal for the PC, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please check if the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. Also, while gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

Havent owned this long but I will give you all the Pro's and Cons. Lets start with the Pro's.
1. Has a Low Hash Rate RTX 3070 in it.
2. Blazing fast processor.
3. Gaming performance is amazing
4. Encodes/edits videos much faster than any 3rd gen Ryzen i tested. (Not including threadripper)
5. Will play anything you throw at it.
6. lighter than most gaming desktops and even has a handle on it to move it around. Amazing.
Cons-
1. The inclusion of 1 (only fan in the case) aside from the cpu cooler) rear exhaust fan. A 92mm fan at that.
2. The case has no airflow whatsoever. Its like whoever designed this case, had overheating planned as it gets close to thermal limits.
3. The CPU runs HOT when gaming or encoding. Doing either i have seen multiple cores hit the 100c TJ Max. (Max temp before it shuts itself down) Terrible.
4. The CPU fan is loud when it ramps up. And it will 90% of the time. The CPU fan sounds like 10 locomotives with jet engines attached to them running at full speed. Sadly the only way to control the fans is through the BIOS. Which is not the best way.
5. Only 1 stick of RAM. I would have included 2x8GB sticks of ram instead of a single 16GB stick as this hurts performance.
6. Nowhere to mount additional fans. If you want more fans to add more airflow (that this system is definitely being choked of) then you have to use zip ties to mount fans as there are not many mounts on the case itself anywhere.
7. Radiator support? hmmmm....No...
8. This varies between people. Some people reported getting a EVGA Power Supply with theirs. I however got a Power Supply I never heard of. I bought a better 850w instead as I trust PSU I bought more than what i got with the PC.
Conclusion- The power is there, they need to figure out how to get airflow to this case. I love the case style and looks but it NEEDS more airflow. DESPERATELY. If you want to get this PC for the raw performance it has, then my recommendation is to get a high airflow case and more RAM to keep this bad boy nice and cool.
I personally went out and got a better case and moved everything over and temps have dropped significantly. The PC never sees over 70c under any load. I also went with different RAM. 2x8GB sticks of ram for dual channel performance. Performance has increased about 5-10% just by having dual channel RAM.
Overall, I would still recommend this PC. You can mod it to get better airflow and keep temps decent. But, if your not computer literate or know how to mod for airflow or move it all to a better case, i would not buy this and search for something with more airflow but also a reputable company.

Awesome build, terrible thermals. The fans in this case are tiny and weak, the computer would regularly get above 90 degrees while gaming without pushing it too far, while sounding like a jet trying to take off, the case was too small to add any decent cooler and the ram they give is pretty much a joke, but after new cooler, case, and ram chips this is a pretty awesome build runs any game I've tried on Ultra without issue.

Dear Shotkoolerdanu,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are concern about the excessive heat being generated on the PC.
The cooling system on the PC is adequate to dissipate excessive heat effificently while under heavy load. I'm no elitist who thinks a pc should run at 35c under 100% load. With that being said, this think wont even run at all with the stock cpu cooler. Many air coolers wont fit in the chasis and there isnt a great place for an all in one cooler. I ended up slapping on an old hyper 212 and leaving the side panel off as it wouldn't fit.m

Picked mine up today. Couple of things. Keyboard and Mouse that came with it are not the ones pictured.
My computer shipped with a single stick of ddr4 ram. Not two sticks to run in dual channel.
Seems like it received a slight upgrade compared to pictures as far as cup cooler goes. Looks like a knock off hyper 212 evo
When removing it from the package it sounded like there was a screw just rolling around in the case. Turns out there was. I assume it was dropped during the build process. Takes 1 minute to find it and remove it. It wasn't.
I have never in my life recommended to anyone to buy a prebuilt. However with the current situation as far as inflation. It almost makes sense. Honestly for $2000 I was disappointed.

It's got some issues. Not much space in the case to make the cooling better (80mm vs. 120 mm fans). It can be a bit noisy playing a graphically intense game because of air cooling. All that being said it was an excellent deal at a time when Geforce 3070s prebuilts were usually way more expensive.
