Great laptop, especially when on sale. It is very powerful, light, durable, and has a great screen. The fans are far more tolerable than some reviews I've seen when gaming and really isn't abnormal.

Bought this to replace a 2014 laptop, this was my first gaming laptop and the reason why I chose this was because of the great battery life and portability. This also has some of the best specs for gaming.

This is now my go-to laptop for everything. I noticed that my MacBook Pro M3 Pro is quickly becoming my second best laptop, The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is definitely gives me more complements. It is a real beast compared to the MacBook Pro. And somehow, it gives me great battery life, it feels lighter, it's great for gaming, and it has an OLED display!!!

Extremely good value if you get an open box deal. This is as close as a windows laptop gets to the macbook pro experience. The screen is great, speakers are phenomenal, and performance is great for the form factor, although the 5080 and 5090 don't get the full wattage that larger laptops would have. I get roughly 8-9 hours of battery life when working with VScode, WSL, Firefox, and Discord open, which is about the same with just firefox open playing youtube.

This computer is incredible. I've been a user of the Zephyrus line since they had the 1070 in their laptops, and without a doubt, they are still the best. This generation is thinner, more powerful, and the screen is simply incredible. I think the only downside is that I would have preferred Ryzen over Intel. If you like what the Zephyrus line has to offer, you'll definitely love it. However, it should be noted that you can't have everything in a laptop this thin, and if you want portability, you're going to have to sacrifice some aspects such as enormous performance and battery life, even though it's still too powerful.

After device breaking issues with two different Strix, I decided to go with this rig. Looking back it was a blessing in disguise. The quality and finish of the Zephyrus is far better, and other than a few power shifting issues (i.e. from iGPU to GPU can be finicky with my setup) and some tuning to get the most out of it, it's great. Once all was sorted I fell in love. The screen is beautiful, the keyboard feels nice, and the trackpad is great. I prefer the trackpad to the MBP my wife got at the same time.
I'm scoring around 16k combined on Timespy touching 87c gpu (using my settings), albeit fans maxing at 68c and allowing for airflow. This is about half of my desktop i9/4090 setup and very impressive. My actual gaming settings are lower, but it flies. In most gaming scenarios, with custom fan curve and settings, the 5070ti is staying nice and cool under 70c. Modern AAA games it can get a bit warm, but can be solved with a blower pad if you have concerns. I have not experienced any negative in-game effects from thermals to this point playing BL4 or BF6.
All that said, due to it's profile, there are limitations. Without a secondary blower you are going to run into thermal limits before you max out the hardware. If intending on this being a desktop replacement I would recommend getting an llano or iets to get the most out of it. This introduces noise, so you would need to be comfortable with increased fan noise. Candidly I have not tested the results of adding one, but even with this being a secondary device, I plan to get one to make sure I get the most out of it.
Other nice surprises - Silent Mode at 35w with boost off is plenty quick for day to day tasks and I have gotten at least 7 hours of battery life according to the system. I've not gotten lower than 40% after a few days of light to moderate use so couldn't tell you the actual. It's enough for me.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the finish. I don't love the gaudy gaming laptops and this appears like a high end device, not a toy.
TL:DR - Screen's great, finish is lovely. It's quick, but will likely need a little bit of enthusiast experience to get the most out of it. It's profile introduces thermal limits, but either through settings or a blower this should be able to be minimized.

I had bought a lenovo legion pro 7i with and rtx 5080 and that was very powerful yet very heavy to move around so I found this laptop which was less powerful yet much more portable and once I started using it the lower power did not seem that significant, instead what was more significant was the work efficiency moving around and the great battery life. 5/5

I will say I love this Laptop. It does run very hot to touch but I purchased a cooling pad from Best Buy to help ensure everything stays cool. This laptop has incredible graphics and the built in speakers are much better than I expected. The OLED screen is a massive win with its clarity and eye catching colors that even someone like me that usually games on a large monitor due to my vision helps me see and compete in matches with the smaller laptop screen. I gave this 5 stars because there wasn't a 4.5 option. I only docked it by.5 due to the heat which is an easy fix.

Nice portability, very powerful given that is a very thin gamming laptop, it does run hot, is recommended to adjust fan curves , if you want the best performance. If you use a cooler pad, make sure the exhaust in the back of the laptop is not covered

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I shopped and researched for months before pulling the trigger and I’ve been very satisfied. I hadn’t had a PC for games in almost 20 years and that was the sole purpose of the purchase. I chose this bc I like the thing metal design, similar to Mac specs, yet still being more than powerful than what I’d likely need. The feel of it is fantastic. OLED screen is super brilliant, and plenty bright, I have it turned way down on brightness and I don’t see ever needing it turned way. I wanted a laptop that I could use at a desk for FPS games like DayZ and Hell Let Loose, but also for playing on my lap lounged back with strategy games like Civilizations, Paradox games like Crusader Kings and such. It’s handled everything flawlessly. You’d want a think pad or something if gaming on your lap. Fans can be loud but I don’t find them obnoxious, they are clearly louder in FOS games but with a headset on you can’t hear them. Lounging back watching tv and playing a game fans are fine. I spent a lot of time debating what laptop to get and I’m glad I went this. I almost waited for the 2026 line up, but I didn’t see the need for the next best thing with the likely price jump. Laptop I bought at regular price but went on sale for $530 off after and got that back. It was still worth it st full price. I hope this review helps someone, as I spent a lot of time shopping for this as well.

The computer meets my expectations. The display is beautiful but very prone to scratches. It's a quieter computer compared to other competitors. The materials are of very good quality. For some reason, the silent mode works better for photo and video editing, and in moderation, it's perfect for certain situations. I recommend it if you're looking for power and portability.

This thing is a beast. I have no complaints about game performance. Temps can get high (80-90 CPU, 70-80 GPU) but that is normal for a laptop. When on battery life there is no fan noise and it lasts quite long (although I haven't done a full test, just looked at wattage draw). Also, the speakers are some of the best I have heard.
Definitely opt for gHelper over armory crate, it is just better.
The only complaint I have is some noise around the hinges, but that doesn't warrant it losing a star.

The laptop is of premier quality, the keyboard is smooth, and the OLED display is great for high-quality gaming and streaming. This game can handle high-end games easily! Would definitely recommend at the price point.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is an outstanding gaming laptop that perfectly balances performance, The build quality is sleek and premium, with a thin and lightweight design compared to many gaming laptops in the same performance class. The keyboard feels comfortable for both gaming and typing, powerful hardware, and premium build quality, it stands out as one of the best gaming laptops in its category.

Before you read the title and look at the price and think "HUH?", allow me to clarify - this is CHEAP..ly made. The price is anything from it. Funny enough, the price was actually a couple hundred dollars lower until certain government things went into play and it landed where it is today.
Bureaucracy aside, this thing runs HOT. I don't mean "well, duh, it's a gaming laptop" hot, I mean you can turn it on, leave it flat on a desk and allow the vents (raised by speedbumps on the bottom chassis) to do their thing, open Steam (not a game, just the launcher), and hear the jet engines fire up. Just downloading a game will push the CPU enough to need a fan on in the room - that's ridiculous for a laptop.
It comes pre-installed with all your favorite ASUS bloatware - MyASUS, Armoury Crate, AURA Sync, etc. The Windows install itself takes forever, oddly enough, coupled in with any updates and ASUS registration screens - it took a solid 45 minutes before I was actually able to USE the laptop.
The OLED screen leaves a lot to be desired if you've used an actual OLED monitor - both less-than-vibrant images and mediocre refresh rate unless you bypass the recommended power settings and/or leave it plugged in all the time. At that point, you might as well invest in a PC - one at the price of this laptop will hang around for a few years, actually.
It's not all bad, though. The speakers are fairly balanced. While annoying as bloatware, the lighting options are fun (although the cover light effects seem entirely pointless). Although the keys themselves are a tough sell for a GAMING laptop, they are smooth to the touch and at least responsive.
The trackpad, on the other hand, is a whole other beast with how it is TOO responsive - at some point I felt like I was playing a theremin with how it was responding to just the air between it and my palm. 3 hours on balanced mode off charger? Not bad, but always feels bad on these "gaming" laptops.
ASUS products serve me well in my custom-built gaming PC but take factors like government taxes, the price bloat of RTX 50s, the portability of a laptop, and ASUS seemingly cheaping out on thermals, and this is not one of their proudest moments.

So, I’ve been using this laptop for a few weeks now, and honestly? I’m obsessed. I’m definitely not a "tech person"—my last laptop was literally held together by stickers and prayer—but I needed something reliable for my classes and for watching shows in bed.
Here’s my "non-techy" take on the Zephyrus G16:
Why I Actually Love It
It’s Actually Pretty: Most "powerful" laptops look like giant, glowing bricks, but this one is so sleek. I got the light silver one (Platinum White), and it looks really high-end. It fits in my tote bag without weighing me down when I’m running between lectures.
The Screen is Everything: The colors are so bright and pretty. I didn’t know what "OLED" meant, but basically, everything looks super clear. Watching Netflix on this is 100x better than my phone or my old computer.
The Keyboard is a Dream: I have to write a lot of 2,000-word essays, and the keys feel really soft and "clicky" in a satisfying way. Plus, the trackpad is huge, so I don’t feel cramped.
The Battery: It actually lasts through my morning classes without me having to scramble for a power outlet. (Life saver!)

Had to return this item a few times to get one that actually worked -- had some that stuttered every few moments, black screened, and/or overheated. So annoying but I went through a few exchanges for the hardware (its a nicely built laptop -- best on market). QC and software sucks though. Wasted hours of my time (and my local Best Buy's) to get a good one.
when it doesn't stutter stutter (in optimus mode with asus armoury create uninstalled), I've set 3D Mark records. The intel chip surprised me, not bad at all. The 5070 ti is great.
However, back to the bad. Asus is a joke when it comes to their software and firmware team.
See report from Zephkek on GitHub, where he absolutely dismantles the awful firmware design team from Asus.

Asus, do better! 1 guy figured out what a 0.5 TRILLION COMPANY COULDN'T. Shocking.
Avoid this laptop if you want something that works outta the box.
If you have it, change to Optimus mode and look up G-Helper alternative to Armoury crate.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the ASUS GU605CR gaming laptop. We’re sorry for the trouble you’ve had with hardware and software issues, and we understand how frustrating that must be. It’s great to hear the laptop performs well in Optimus mode with strong results from the Intel processor and 5070 Ti. We take your feedback seriously and will pass it along to our internal teams.

This was my first gaming laptop that I’ve have ever purchased. I am really impressed with the performance, built quality, screen resolution and how well it handles games and 3D modeling software. It was a good choice for me since it was on sale and needed a decent computer for designing 3D modeling. I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a new powerful laptop at a reasonable price.
Slightly heavier but still awesome package.Elegant

The laptop is excellent. But it is no faster than a 2024 model. The 285H doesn't appear to be any faster on any workload. Still slow. For gaming, i don't think you need much more. It is slightly heavier than previous year with the 4090. Laptop is extremely portable. Speakers are AMAZING. WIFI is good with no stuttering on the whole system itself.
