Great when it works, avoid asus wifi 7 routers

When it works it’s excellent but there is a bug with the Broadcom SOC that is used and your internet will die randomly for a few minutes at a time. It’s a pretty well documented bug that they haven’t fixed. Avoid.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace a Netgear router that was end of life and I have had nothing but problems with it. I can't even tell how many hours I have spent searching different forums and trying different combinations of settings and yet the problems persist. My first issue was our Apple devices would randomly drop connection and then fail to reestablish. I would see the wifi icon just continually flash off an on until I restarted the router. After some online searching I changed a few settings and that issue seems to be resolved. Now, multiple times a day I am seeing the WiFi connection drop for around a minute. When I look in the log on the router it looks like it is restarting the wireless. Today it seems to be happening almost hourly. Do some searches and you will find plenty of people having similar issues. There are clearly issues with Asus routers. This is very disappointing, especially for the price. I'm beyond the return period so I don't know if I'll end up eating the cost and going back to a Netgear or what.

We do understand your disappointment with this router and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing connection problems. To resolve the unstable connection, check if the PC or device connecting to the router is working properly and within range to the router, the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Additionally, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Legacy devices may not work properly with WIFI-7, please check updates for these devices. Also, disable "Smart Connect", and try connecting these manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Furthermore, we recommend updating the router's firmware if it is running with an older version. Asus RT-BE86U - Excellent Performance!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent, consistent speeds around 1300mbps - 1400mbps. Excellent 2.4G and 5G coverage. I highly recommend this router. Performs better than routers I’ve had that were twice its price. Definitely worth the $300. Happy I finally found an excellent router because I’ve used a fair amount of high-performing gaming routers.
