No problems with setup. Works well with our internet

Looking to get into tri-band WiFi 7 - this is the product that my research found to be a great entry-level one. Capable of serving as the base for a Mesh network in larger home. Speeds are blazing. Highly recommend.

Upgrade the firmware ASAP. Hard to connect at first but once connected the router seems “rock solid”.

I purchased this router for internet speed & stability. Out of all the Asus routers I have purchased in the past, this one is the worst. router I have owned. It doesn't maintain connectivity & my VPN doesn't work properly. During setup, I had a difficult time getting Instant Guard setup on the app. The app would not detect that the router was connected for instant guard. It keep telling me I had a private IP address and I needed a public IP address and I needed to contact my ISP. When I wake up in the mornings, I noticed that the router was offline in the middle of the night and this affects my security alarm & cameras. This device stays offline from 1 to 3 hours. I will be returning this device and getting a new type of router.

So far it was a great upgrade from my previous model i have many devices to work on it and all of them di just fine only a ring video camera that suffers because they dont keep up their technology like the rest

When this is up and running, this router is great. However, this thing has major issues with connectivity if your *modem* loses power. There are multiple forum posts out there stating they have problems getting this router and other similar ASUS routers to work after power failures/modem power outages and I can confirm. My office used to trip the breaker a few times every few months which caused me major headaches due to the router not being able to get an internet connection afterwards. The only way to get it back up was to wait until the next morning and reset the router and modem and start the setup from ground zero. If you do get this router, be sure to hook everything up and get the wifi working, and then power off your MODEM, then plug it back in to see if the ASUS router has issues getting internet connectivity back. If so, return it ASAP... I've read that ASUS routers have had this issue for over 10+ years and there does not seem to be a fix in sight. I will be staying away from ASUS routers from now on.

The ASUS RT-BE92U BE9700 is a powerful, feature-rich router for those eager to adopt Wi-Fi 7 and who have (or plan to have) devices that can take advantage of its capabilities. While it had a somewhat rocky start, firmware improvements have made it a more reliable option for building a high-performance home network.

We purchased this router as we were upgrading our ISP to direct fiber and this router was recommended by the installer. It was very simple to setup and even created a separate IOT network for my smart home devices. It is loaded with security features, app controls and VPN server/client capabilities. I saw some reviews that indicated issues with stability, but I have not seen any of those issues. My ISP provides 2 GB/s and I've had no issues seeing those speeds through a wired connection and over 1 GB/s over wireless.

I updated from ASUS AC1900P, and now I'm getting the performance from my ISP that I'm paying for.

I've been using Asus routers for 15 years. They had always provided a rock solid wired and wireless network. The RT-BE92U was the first Asus router I've used that could not do that. I tried just one as a router. One as a router and one as a node. Then two as nodes and three as nodes. No matter what configuration I setup, devices would drop off wifi and the BE92U units would reboot periodically. This is with the newest firmware from late November 2025. It was extremely frustrating. So, I purchased a couple of the RT-BE96U routers. One for the router and one for a mesh node. I copied over the settings file from the BE92U router and instantly my network was rock solid. It's been ten days now and no device has dropped off the network and neither BE96U unit has rebooted. This was never the case in the eight days of use I had with the RT-BE92U units. I only wish I had listened to the people that said to stay away from the RT-BE92U. It certainly has some serious problems. It's the extremely rare dud from Asus.

On light load its snappy, but when you put it through its paces, things tend to lag and cut out.

I went off the reviews posted here at Best-buy. Two weeks in, I have had the most frustrating experience. This router will randomly drop all of your devices and remain offline from 10 minutes to over an hour. Not good when you have work and security depending on it. I never had a single issue with my Asus WiFi 6 router. I reset multiple times, changed settings per the Asus support forums and could never figure it out. Ended up taking it back and getting another model router. If you need reliable internet, please looks elsewhere.

This entire line of asus routers apparently has issues as it very difficult to find any router from them OVER 4 stars. Come on asus get your act together

Got this recently and happy to purchase. It really woks very well.

I started to write a very long, detailed review, but let me simply state I bought this 92U to be configured as a secondary mesh node, wired backhaul, to an ASUS BE18000 primary node, and it doesn't work as stated. Meaning it "seems" to default back to a wireless backhaul even though hard coded in the config as wired. And hence all my devices in this area of the property suffer tremendously, including wired devices. And btw, don't bother calling ASUS support. Some of the worst technical support I have ever gotten. The guy tried to tell me wired backhaul was only good for 4 or 5 meters. And suggested wireless backhaul was a better, more stable option. My brain hurts after arguing with that guy. So as a standalone router this router may work just fine. Note my review is purely based on this setup as a secondary mesh node through ASUS' AI Mesh solution. On a positive note, the BE18000 is the fastest router we have had to date. Just replaced a Linksys WiFi 7 setup. First time using ASUS.
