Setting up is simple but consistent coverage is lacking. Wi-Fi randomly drops out. The fiddle with it and try to fix it factor is extremely high. The router is buggy and leaves so much to be desired.

Great multi-floor router

I have 2 with the 2nd set up as a wireless access point. Firesticks and the like need to be connected to an IoT network though. This requirement is new to me, but i had to figure it out myself.

Asus needs to fix the firmware, randomly crashes.

It seems it will reboot itself or lock up once a day. It looks like its a known problem. This is why its super cheap period. The manufacture knows something js wrong and discounted it.

I naively trusted an Asus brand product. Regretfully, I did not discover the error of my ways until it was too late to return it. As so many others have posted (here and on other sites), I have had issues with unstable connections, with dropped devices, with 1 core of the internal processor running 100%, with spontaneous reboots, with the system log recording the same thermal zone fault every 3 seconds, with a very restricted 6G range, etc. Hoping (but unfortunately not expecting) that a firmware update will correct these problems, I check daily for such an update. In the meantime, I have purchased another router which is doing fine.

It was half-baked at launch with the processor implantation and horrendous firmware programmers. The ASUS RT-BE92U uses a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor. It also features 256 MB of Flash memory and 1 GB of DDR4 RAM. The processors lock up at 100%, some disappear, and they become so overladen you can’t even log back into the router (even by wired connection). ONLY A HARD RESET AND BETA FIRMWARE BRINGS IT BACK TO LIFE…WHICH MEANS ROUTER RESETS ITSELF ONLY 4-5 TOMES A DAY. Until Merlin makes a true firmware for this and testing in the wild is stable for weeks, do I recommend this router.

Do not buy this unless you enjoy frustration

This is my 3rd Asus router. I had my previous model meshed with two older models and it seemed to work pretty well iver the last 5 years. I will say, however, I had similar issues with it initially, but after customizing a few settings, the drops went away. I tried to do the same with this one but had no luck. Of course, I'm only a few days past thr return period. I just bought a few Unifi Express 7s and they have been rock solid..shoild have done this from the start.

I bought the BE92U with a much smaller footprint to replace the much larger BE96U that I had had for a while. My home is a 2-story townhouse, and I had an AI mesh network set up on the 96U, so I needed that on the new 92U router. Set up was simple using my web browser. For me, there was no real need to change default settings of the router itself. I did use my Asus RT82 and RT86 routers to reestablish my AI Mesh network, with the RT82 in my main bedroom and the RT86 in my office/game room. Once I reset those 2 and set them up as mesh nodes, they were recognized by this router, and everything is working fine in all 3 bands. Additionally, I was able to set up and use an external USB drive as a Network drive. I definitely recommend this router. (BTW, firmware is the latest).

After spending time on several models I choice this one based on the features. Solid router and a decent price point for Wifi 7.

I had the fios people out, my connection is good, gotta be the router, right? So I put this one in and I have other problems, most of which are inconsistent connections with my wireless items in the house. Computers, Xbox, switches, iPhones, you name it, inconsistent connections. It's not even that old, but I've already had to factory reset it two times because it was completely frozen! Expensive garbage that I cannot return now. I'm not happy with ASUS and I will not be purchasing this brand in the future.

To resolve this, if you are connecting legacy devices, these may not work properly with WIFI-6 and WIFI-7, please check updates for these device. Also, try connecting this manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Also we recommend updating the router's firmware if running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-7/all-series/asus-rt-be92u/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=ASUS-RT-BE92U. Additionally, check ifthe router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired by a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Read - Don't Buy!

Switched back to my old Asus router and no problems at all. The router software is buggy! The router literally would stop passing traffic and have to be manually be rebooted, and sometimes it was every day or somes several times a day. I haven't had to reboot my older Asus router even once. Is it possible once they update the firmware that it will work better, but right now wouldn't buy this router even on sale if you want a dependable router. And don't believe that it is a hardware issue but a software issue.
