I've been using this monitor for a month, and am happy with it's features and low price. The stand is fully adjustable, and the monitor has a load of features. Even at 60 hz movement is smooth in all but the fastest gaming moves. But you can crank it up to 144Mhz and get even smoother movement. The bezel is pretty thin, so you don't have that big separation when using dual monitors. There are several levels of blue level adjustment for eye strain, but you will have to adjust the saturation level when using the blue filter. I noticed a big difference in picture quality from my other monitor that didn't have the filter applied. Overall a very good monitor.

Husband loves this! He uses it as a second display monitor at his office. Loves that the screen moves up and down and will swivel to a vertical screen, all with ease. Matte screen helps in bright sunlight. He uses this almost exclusively for documents and this has been fantastic. With recent cataract/detached retina surgery, he needed something that was precise but not so large that he couldn't fit it next to his main larger screen and this fits well. The fact that this also has FreeSync makes it a bargain. We got it on sale and it was a super deal!

I bought this monitor to be used in portrait mode. The included stand allows this which full tilt pan and swivel. The range of motion is very smooth. 144hz allows for clean movement for FPS gaming or just for eye candy. I do which there was an option to rotate the monitor menu if using portrait mode, but I haven't see it. Picture starts off on the darker side, but tech savvy folks should be able to get it to their liking by fiddling with the settings. The speakers are on the weaker side, but no one really buys monitors expecting good quality speakers.

Great monitor for my usage (switch/PC gaming and general internet stuff) and the quality to price ratio is in your favor. I've had no issues so far, it worked perfectly out of the box. It also looks very clean with my setup :,) The picture quality is wonderful, clear and bright. The only downside are the speakers, they're OKAY but the sound quality isn't the greatest, things sound pretty flat. Overall, I'd still recommend picking this up if you're looking for a high quality, more affordable gaming monitor, especially if you already have speakers.

I found this to be a fantastic monitor. I'm using this as a 2nd display with a dell monitor and they both work well. For gaming, it's also been very enjoyable for me. I managed to get this for under $170 when this was on sale. I run this with a RX 5700 XT through display port and have 144HZ out of the box, no manual overclocking option to navigate through. Great deal, great stand (though I have this mounted on an arm) and quality product. Highly recommended.

Pick it up if it's under $180 after taxes -- Open-Box, Refurbished or New! Worth the money coming from a TN panel at 60Hz (Asus VX238h). ADVANTAGES: IPS panel with fast, smooth rendering. Vibrant colors and adequate brightness for most lighting conditions. Blacks are more black while whites are more enhanced. Movies/shows/videos at the highest quality sources at 1080p (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Blu-Ray, etc.) are amazingly displayed! First-person shooting games like Wolfenstein, Call of Duty and Metro are beautiful! Solid construction with swivel and height adjustments. Stand is wider all than expected so could take up a lot of desk real estate. I usually sit about 25" away from the screen and have to move the desk outward to compensate for the wider stand. DisplayPort and HDMI cables should be included in each box. ELMB works but with a cost-- it reduces your screen brightness significantly! Maybe take 1 star off the review? The Asus VG259QM (280Hz version) does not do that. But this model does! G-Sync & Freesync work for either line of GPUs. Better to use DisplayPort cable for guarantee of either benefit. DISADVANTAGES: Requires above average graphics card to utilize the full 144Hz and if your games could benefit from 100+ fps. (I use a single MSI GTX 1080 Ti Duke paired with Ryzen 3900x and 64Gb at 3200Mhz DDR4 Ram) On-screen-display could use a joystick rather than a line of buttons with designated functions visualized. Navigation could feel clumsy/time-consuming if you're not a patient person. I have no issue. Bezels are somewhat cheated because the is also a black border on the screen itself than just the physical plastic construction. So it does not look "thin" or "bezel-less" much compared to my previous Asus monitor. But there is a reduction of bezel width nonetheless. Keep this in mind if you want multiple displays. Preset picture quality is very bright but too warm for my taste. So I use "Racing Mode" with "Brightness - 45" with "Contrast - 80" with "Color Temp - Normal" with "Skin Tone - Normal" with nothing else adjusted. Shadow Boost is trash. It just makes the black areas look washed out with nothing enhanced as advertised. Other game features do not enhance anything for me but devalue the quality of this screen. I don't recommend messing with those game features. Bought 2 of these monitors separately and each had its own unique variation of uneven IPS glow. First monitor had vertical borders darker than the middle of the screen. Second monitor had yellowish tint in the middle of the screen while vertical borders had blueish tint. And I set the screens the same as mentioned earlier. So much for "panel lottery." I ended up getting the Asus VG259QM with the overclocked 280Hz refresh rate. Much better screen overall if you care about visual quality.

PROS - Screen, as long as you don't want something over 30" then is is plenty big for the average gamer / office computer. And the IPS panel looks fantastic. - Refresh Rate, this screen is buttery smooth and at 144hz you are doing yourself a favor for gaming. - Colors, very accurate out of the box and didn't have to play much with the color settings. - Features, plenty of features that i'm still finding out about this bad boy and still messing around with them. - Ergonomics, the stand that it comes with is fantastic and this screen could also be used as a tall monitor vs a widescreen monitor. - Price, and finally the price... cant beat it for what all you get in this package...great quality build. CONS - Brightness, it's not terrible, just wish it was a little brighter. - Port Location, the way they allocated the ports is a little awkward, wish they were on one of the sides instead of having to reach up under the screen vs just turning the monitor and having access to them that way. - Red accent, the stand has a red accent on the bottom of it and I wish it was just all solid black, I feel like red on a monitor is just tacky.... just my opinion tho... Overall 5/5 stars. would buy again and again.

In conclusion, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM 27” HDR Monitor is a high-performance gaming monitor that delivers where it matters most: speed and responsiveness. Its fast refresh rate, low response time, and compatibility with adaptive sync technologies make it an excellent choice for competitive gamers.

This monitor delivers for its price. The colors are better than acceptable and the refresh rate is that sweet spot for modern games. You can get faster but the price goes up and the Law of Diminishing Returns kicks in. 1080p is a great spot if you’re running anything from an Nvidia 10 series to a 3060. In Warzone on medium high settings my girlfriends Asus Zephyrus G14 3060 laptop is hitting 130 FPS average with no screen tear or artifacts. The 24” size is also perfect for 1080p as this size seems to be the sweet spot for pixel density. Most 1080p monitors I’ve seen bigger than this lose their sharpness as there are too few pixels for the screen size. There is a tiny bit of motion blur on small far away dark objects on a light background but I’ve come to suspect that is more the laptop as it does the same thing on my $700 Acer Predator XB273U GX 27” 240hz 1440p monitor that I use for my much more powerful desktop. This monitor is FreeSync compatible but Nvidia will not detect it automatically as it was not tested and certified to work with G-Sync. You just need to go into the setting on the monitor and turn on Variable Refresh Rate and then the “Enable G-Sync” will appear in Nvidia Control Panel. Now for the only major downside: the User Interface is a total pain to use. Instead of giving you a joystick nipple to navigate the menu, you have 5 buttons that aren’t always clearly labeled on screen. Add on top of that Asus’ TERRIBLE naming of monitor features (to be fair most brands seem to use proprietary names for everything from VRR to Backlight Adjust instead of calling them what they are) I eventually gave up and went to YouTube and found a review that explains the important settings and I haven’t touched it since. If you’re in the market for a really good 1080p 144hz gaming monitor, I really think you should add this to your monitor comparison list.

This was a nice monitor for sure. 144 hertz was oh so sweet; smooth as butter. But I ended up returning my pair of monitors due to one having a dead pixel in the middle of the screen, and the backlight glow was real during black screens—more than I preferred. I ended up moving to a 1440p 27” monitor, as that of course looks better and the bigger screen. Price was $169 (on sale) when purchased, though. So at that price, if all you’re wanting is 1080p 144 hertz; this is a great option.

1080p looks crisp especially with it being a smaller screen and the colors are bright and consistent, no backlight bleed or any type of disorientation with the colors. Viewing is solid throughout and the adjustable height is helpful for any setup. Perfect for competitive and fast paced gaming.
