Purchased as an open box good condition and it was worth the price. I tend to agree with others about the keyboard visibility As mentioned in other reviews Great computer though.

I thought a 17” laptop would be huge but it wasn’t. It’s quite thin and the silver makes it look kinda fancy. The SSD Memory allows it to start up quickly. I have been phasing out all of our old laptop with the mechanical hard drives. It’s true that they should have used a darker color instead of the silver for the font on the keyboard. It’s a little hard to see. But most people should memorize their QWERTY by now. I have owned several asus products including routers and laptops. They have all lasted a long time. I hope this laptop will too. Asus is a Taiwanese company and their name derives from Pegasus. Why they chose Asus is a head scratcher.

I had a very hard time finding a laptop to compare this to at this price point. Ryzen 7, 512ssd, 16gb ram and a descent 17” HD screen for $600? I bought it immediately. I’ve had it for a month now and still like it. I read a few reviews somewhere that bring up webcam issues. If you have webcam issues, first make sure you haven’t pressed the physical WEBCAM DISABLE button on the keyboard. I felt pretty stupid when I figured it out. It’s good to know that the button works so well, the computer doesn’t even know there’s a webcam attached anymore. So far my only complaint is the speakers. For some reason the volume gets progressively lower and lower over an hour or so. If I unplug the power cable, then plug it back in, the full volume is restored. Strange. Probably can be fixed. Buy it

Trusted the ASUS brand as I still own an ASUS for over 5 years. The Ryzen 7 with 12 Gb RAM and large screen ran well. Then I noticed it did not have the backlit keyboard. Difficult to see which keys you're pressing in dim areas with grey lettering on silver keys. Later, I noticed BestBuy offered the same computer for $100 less and would not honor its price match guarantee. I purchased the laptop for an older family member who mentioned how difficult it was to see the keys sometimes. I considered keeping the laptop myself and getting a different model with a backlit keyboard. However, when Bestbuy would not honor its price match I returned it the next day. I am looking again but now carefully reviewing specs before my next purchase.

This computer has everything I hoped for and more. Speed and ease of use were exactly what i needed. The price was exactly what i needed given these economic times.

No backlight for the keyboard. Support for this model is lacking possibly because its so 'New". Seems to be a decent computer, but am annoyed with this laptop and the faulty myasus app that caused the computer to completely reset for no reason and various other updating issues.

It's a nice laptop, but they falsely listed that it has a backlit keyboard. Best Buy support thought that I may have gotten the wrong laptop, so they shipped out a replacement. Still the same M712D model with no backlit keyboard. Since then, they update this page to remove the backlit keyboard as a listed feature. Contrary to what Asus support is posting under other reviews here, they were not helpful when I reached out to them. They told me to go back to Best Buy support for this issue.

This is a very capable laptop, the best specifications I found for the money and everything that I needed. Speed, storage and picture are all super. The screen was so large I didn't need to replace my monitor when it failed. I am not a great touch typist so I had trouble seeing the letters and numbers on the keys since they are not very distinct nor lighted. I solved that problem by adding an inexpensive wireless keyboard with very distinct characters.

Bought this big screen laptop for my 12 yo boy as a birthday present. Finally he thinks his present is COOL and I don't feel bad for getting him presents that he doesn't like. The computer is pretty fast, even thought it's like entry level. This is probably because of the new AMD processor.

I am doing online school and this laptop meets all the requirements. It has a large enough screen for multi-tasking yet it is still light weight.

This computer is beyond what I know about computers. it is amazing and user friendly. Asus has their own community and help and an app on the computer for help. This can be used for gaming and who knows what else. The graphics are great. when you purchase this and look for desks or lap desks keep in mind you want to make sure it fits a bigger size. it may be bigger but its super light and easy to pack around. I hope you enjoy it as much or more than I do. I'm excited to learn more of its abilities.

This computer works great for me doing some design work, however, the battery doesn't last that long. Other than that, I haven't experienced any issues.

Great specs. For the price it’s ok. However, I am extremely dissatisfied. The description clearly states it has a backlit keyboard and it clearly does not. Battery life isn’t all that great either.

The laptop has performed well since purchase, it is fast and accomplishes what I need done. I did not give it 5 stars because it doesn't have a cd drive and I was unaware of that but that was my fault for not checking.

I bought this laptop for my financial work. I wanted a larger screen, plenty of RAM and a SSD. I am fine without a separate video card since I am using it for CPU intense applications but not GPU or gaming. I am very pleased. It's light, fast, and works extremely well for what I need.

Nice size, nice specs - overall good solid laptop with great graphics and speed.

Overall, its a great laptop it just is a major irritation that the keyboard is grey on grey and hard to read.

Good laptop for the price. Big screen and great for general usage.
