Solid Effort From Asus
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a very good productivity laptop, great for office work/docs, can casually game esport titles. First off, the display of this device is fantastic, colors pop and it's bright. The refresh rate is only 60hz but if this is on sale, it's still a deal below $600. When shut, the lid does not stay flush with the rest of the laptop, which really doesn't effect anything but makes you question build quality. Given Asus lately questionable support reputation this does not inspire confidence. Keyboard is very good, feels great to type on and customizable backlight is a bonus (under windows settings - personalization). Setting fan profiles (Alt + F) is a breeze and fans are moderately loud at full performance mode but still a big improvement over the last two gens of Intel. Runs hot as expected under load but coil wine is minimal, like a noticeable gust more than anything. Performance is snappy, iGPU is very good, capable of handling Marvel Rivals on low, DOTA 2 and LOL on high with no sweat. Even DOOM (2016) runs great at medium/low settings. The only real cons of this device are the build quality and trackpad. Case is sturdy but gets dirty easily, big fingerprint magnet as other reviews point out. Trackpad is just sub par and doesn't register clicks, taps or scrolling reliably. You either need a mouse or to temper your expectations significantly. Screen is also very reflective which I'm not a fan of. Overall the value is there, if you're looking for a starter/student/basic/office laptop this is it and then some. Display is truly amazing to look at, but right now I am returning only because my m1 MacBook Air will suffice for at least another year.

Good deal for open box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered a open box version and there were some smudges on the laptop( I think this variant of the laptop is prone to smudging from other reviews), but that can be fixed by putting stickers or a laptop skin over it. Over all the laptop is fast with a nice screen and has great battery life for browsing. I don't think you can get a better deal on a lunar lake laptop than this when one sale and choosing an open box option. Attached below is picture of some smudges from ultrabookreviews because I gave the laptop away as a gift so I don't have pictures of it.

Good for travel
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this for several weeks now. The screen is amazing. It does pick up fingerprints as others said - but i've gotten used to it. I haven't used the co-pilot as much yet as I hoped to, but need to get into the habit. I primarily have been using on travel and have zero complaints other than the fingerprints. It performs very well and the audio quality is good too. Purchased on sale and felt at that price it was a great value.

A good midrange laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer during a flash sale for $500 and its a terrific value. The OLED screen is gorgeous and something rarely seen at this price point. There’s ample storage with 512gb on board plus an SD card reader and USB ports to use external drives. The 16GB RAM ensures the computer will be able to multi task and be quick for the foreseeable future. Apps launch quickly and are responsive thanks to the core 5 ultra. Battery life is just okay. Ive been getting 8-10 hours, which compared to a MacBook is disappointing but I’m not sure how other Windows laptops compare. The keyboard is responsive and nice to type on. It’s also backlit and you can change the colors in the settings. The trackpad is just ok. Sometimes I feel like it’s not responsive. The laptop itself is a fingerprint magnet too but that’s no bid deal. Overall I think it’s a good mid range laptop.

Great sub 600$ laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty good overall. Build quality could be a bit better, and the display sometimes feels a little too 'blue' but the performance is good for the price, battery life and heat are great, and the total package is nice and compact. Under 600$ I think this is a rock solid deal.

Nice practical notebook, but not without tradeoffs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My immediate reaction to having had this laptop for a week is that it’s very practical, no-nonsense machine - it gives you all the basics you need, plus a lot of what you’d want in a new machine (including a powerful CPU and good ram) - but still lacks a few extras I would have appreciated. First and foremost, this is an x86 machine (rather than ARM) that is still capable of achieving a great battery life. This is currently helpful in that, - even with the automatic conversion that Windows does for a lot of current programs, it’s still far more compatible with the software you may be using daily. Other machines have some great features, but this alone may be the reason to choose this machine over others. Software compatibility will improve with time, but at time of writing, it’s not fully sorted. As a slight downside, the lower resolution on the screen here isn’t quite as nice to look at if you’re coming from a 3k or 4k screen. It’s still HD, and certainly helps reduce power drain that helps ensure that battery life in not needing to push power to extra pixels, but I’m spoiled by other modern devices. This is largely subjective, and if you’ve only ever had general-use PCs in the past, you may even be upgrading here. On a 14 inch screen, it still provides a good experience. While the resolution isn’t my favorite, the fact that the screen is an OLED is a nice upgrade. Few screens can win against the true-blacks and range of colors these can achieve, and the one here is no different. It looks nice and will make media look fantastic! DESIGN: From a design standpoint, this Vivobook S follows through on most of its promises, as well as its overall theme of being practical, first and foremost. It feels thin and fairly light. It’s definitely portable. A thin ‘foot’ along the bottom near the back adds a bit more thickness, but the impression is good. Where this becomes a little less fancy is in its bezeled screen, which is glass-less. It's textured plastic mostly falls away in practice, but it feels like a tradeoff. The screen also lacks touch functionality, which is more standard at this price point. While thin and cleanly designed, the chassis is more standard as well. The top and bottom are a stamped metal, while the keyboard deck appears to be the only machined element. This may make these outer surfaces a little more prone to denting than other options out there. We own a gaming laptop by Asus with the same manufacturing technique and have a mysterious dent in it. I’d take the claim of military-grade robustness with a grain of salt. Included I/O provides much of what you’d want, including 2 thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, HDMI, a micro SD card reader and USB-A ports. Sound is quite decent thanks to the Harman Kardon speakers. The webcam seems similarly good and also includes a true, physical shutter to close it off with a simple slider. POWER: As this machine is targeted at Copilot / AI users, it gains plenty of power from Intel’s Core Ultra 5, as well as the included 16gb DDR5 memory. It excels at most things, including multitasking, but is not designed for gaming. Its integrated graphics are only entry level. For most users, this is a fine trade-off, but I wouldn’t recommend it for designers or those who need more powerful graphics. Media playback still looks and plays great. OVERALL: This notebook provides most of what people would want from a new machine - plenty of great ports, a long-lasting battery, a powerful processor and gorgeous OLED screen… but lacks the higher resolution I would have preferred, as well as touch. The physical shutter on the webcam is a nice inclusion, as are the Harman Kardon speakers. While it lacks higher-end graphics capability, it is a nice package for most users. My biggest hesitation is the price. I think it should be closer to the $800 range, given the competition. Even so, I still see this as a quality machine.

Very good for $650, but not perfect
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: - very, very good battery life. I got over 12 hours of use without power saving modes over the course of 3 days, so the laptop drained somewhat overnight as well. - good performance. The integrated graphics are very good and will allow you to play many games comfortably. - comfortable keyboard and trackpad - beautiful screen for watching movies/videos - great port selection Cons: - fingerprint magnet. I have sweaty hands, and this thing looked genuinely gross after normal usage due to how much it attracts fingerprints. - low resolution + OLED weirdness makes text look ugly. 1200p should be fine for a laptop of this size, but text has a noticeable rainbow effect due to the sub pixel layout of the OLED panel and looks a bit pixelated. - OLED longevity. Asus does more than some other brands to prevent OLED burn in with techniques like Pixel Shift, but it will only delay the inevitable. Your OLED screen will burn in at some point. If you're like me, this will make you feel like you have to baby the laptop and worry about displaying static elements on screen, which is an added concern that you should not have to deal with on a laptop.

Handsome, Effective Performer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As technology solutions evolve and improve, our needs change as well. The ASUS VivoBook S14 OLED Laptop is a good example. The compact design is mechanically functional and digitally effective. I was surprised by the number and location of ports. ASUS did not ignore legacy peripheral connections for the sake of compactness-yet they got it all to fit in a lightweight device. It's so lightweight that I had to check a couple of times to confirm the case was metal. Keys are comfortably spaces and the trackpad is sizable and programmed with nice features including brightness, volume and scrubbing control areas. Also, the keyboard is RBG backlit, if that's your thing. It even can be personalized to match the colors in your screen's wallpaper...The lighting can be turned off. The OLED screen is bright and colors are intense, as expected. Response time is more than adequate for the type of operations people expect on a 14" screen. Sound is more than adequate thanks to Harmon Kardon components. So enjoy a movie or music at a little higher volume than you might. I found the WiFi fast and reliable. It found networks quickly and maintained connections. Getting back to ports: There are two 5Gbps USB ports, two USB-C (Lightning), an HDMI, mini headphone jack and a Micro-SD reader. It's a Copilot+PC laptop, so there's a Copilot button for easy access to on-device AI capabilities ("safer and faster response time" Complementary software also provides some nifty features for image generation, editing, video calls and language translation and transcription. Be sure to experiment and explore! Nothing's perfect. The 65watt power transformer is square and the prongs integrated. Similar to the fruit brand. However, the prongs do not retract. Somewhat annoying to me. I also don't know why there's been a movement in keyboards to place the power button to the left of the Delete button...setting up many frustrating moments of accidentally putting the computer to sleep. But that's not exclusive to ASUS.

Slim, sleek, AI powered.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS VivoBook S 14 OLED Laptop shines with a sleek and modern design that’s both visually appealing and highly functional. Its slim profile makes it easy to carry, and the placement of I/O ports on either side allows for hassle-free connectivity, perfect for everyday use. One standout feature is the dedicated Microsoft Copilot key, offering instant access to AI tools—a forward-thinking addition that feels natural and beneficial on this device. The keyboard and trackpad are thoughtfully arranged, making typing and navigation smooth and comfortable. With a headphone jack and a front camera privacy slider, ASUS has kept privacy-conscious users in mind, addressing preferences for wired audio and visual security. The OLED display is stunning, delivering rich colors and impressive brightness, which brings a truly immersive viewing experience. Although an anti-glare finish would be nice to reduce reflections, the overall display quality more than compensates, ensuring vibrant visuals even in well-lit settings. The single HDMI output also complements the device’s design, making it a solid choice for those looking for a practical and capable laptop over a tablet. This laptop thoughtfully balances sleek design with essential functionality, making it a compelling choice for anyone wanting a stylish yet practical machine.

Almost 5 stars, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On paper, amazing. In person, it's great when everything works right, but there are consistent bugs and glitches. This seems to be a best buy exclusive, so support from Asus is super limited. Current issues: 1.) Wake from sleep limits wifi speeds to sub 100mb/s, turning wifi off and on resets it to full speed (600+mb/s). 2.) Inconsistent power delivery over the thunderbolt port. I have a portable 1080p monitor that can have signal and power delivery over thunderbolt/USB c. This laptop won't provide enough power to do it. When I attach my phone to the PC, I can draw triple the needed power to charge my phone. Even my pixel 8a powers the monitor. Very weird. 3.) keyboard backlight is only adjustable in Windows settings. Not even detected by openRGB. 4.) When the lid has been closed for a few hours without being plugged in, the power button won't wake the PC (this was only after a bios firmware update). Sometimes the mouse will wake it, sometimes the keyboard will, but I either have to plug it in or bash on it for 30 seconds until it wakes up. The pros: Excellent screen. Only cost $450 which is a total steal even with the issues. Battery life is actually as insane as they claim. I spent a week in the hospital streaming videos and playing light games and charged it once in like 25 hours of use. Great keyboard and track pad. Windows hello is amazing. Great I/O. Having USB c and a ports is pleasant. Dynamic ram/vram allocation keeps it running slick for heavy desktop work and gaming.

Good value laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop for daily use for productivity and media consumptions. Screen is good that can do 180 degrees flat open, brightness is decent, battery life is good can go 10+ hours, keyboard and trackpad is ok, great ports and connectivity. I can use my external monitor at 4K resolutions but take lot of workloads on the laptop. Intel finally released a decent laptop chip after decades of stupidity. Overall this is a good laptop for its price 500ish. I'm looking forward for the next Intel Panther Lake Ultra Series 3 chip which should be a game changer. I would get this laptop over a tablet in a heartbeat.

Just Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is stunning inside and out, boasting a sleek chassis and an OLED display that makes colors truly leap off the screen. My wife can’t get enough of how vibrant and sharp everything looks, whether she’s streaming movies or editing photos. Despite its slim profile, the battery delivers solid endurance, easily powering through several hours of light work and browsing. I tend to keep it plugged in most of the time to maintain peak brightness and performance without worrying about running low. The only gripe is the glossy finish—it attracts fingerprints like a magnet, so you’ll find yourself wiping the chassis pretty often. Overall, it’s a gorgeous, capable machine that balances style and substance—just keep a cloth handy. -I had copilot in the pc rewrite my review- pretty cool huh.

Great value Lunar Lake laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am typing this review on the very laptop. This Asus Vivobook 14 is a great value Lunar Lake laptop (purchase price <$700). It uses the Core Ultra 226V processor, has 16gb RAM, and 512GB storage. OLED screen is nice for price point although refresh rate is only 60hz and resolution is 1980x1200 (16:10). Likewise, the display is not touch screen, nor is the display hinged for 2-in-1 use although the screen does open nearly 180 degrees. The screen is glossy. Still, the laptop has all you need in a lightweight productivity laptop. Thanks to the Lunar Lake series of processors, low power consumption, leading to long battery life--it is not a powerhouse nor desktop replacement nor gaming laptop. Trackpad is a precision trackpad, but not the latest haptic trackapd. Keyboard has single zone RGB (ie. the whole keyboard is one color) although there is a lot of light bleeding between the keycaps themselves. Key travel is OK for a laptop this size. Speaking of size, the laptop is lightweight, less than 3 lbs. It has great port selection (2x USB4/TB-C/TB left, 2x USB3-A, full size HDMI, microsd slot) but would have preferred having one USB-C port on each side to allow for charging on either side. the Build quality is solid, most surfaces are metallic, but is not a single-machined metal block like some premiums devices. Still at this price point, it is a great buy!

Premium if gotten on sale
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not sure if it's worth full price, it's metal, oled, decent specs, there's just something about it that feels like it's a bit undercooked though. Keyboard feels great, touchpad feels mostly good, but can make odd clicking noises in spots, and also just has some weird issues. Like I will be trying to two finger scroll and it just won't work and I have to click twice onto the thing i'm on in order to get it to work again, it like just fails the gesture sometimes. Outside of that it's large, but also kind of sticks a bit, just doesn't glide as well. Performance is really good, almost as good as the ultra 7 version really. Same core count so it's not a huge difference. I like the design, it looks good though as mentioned is a fingerprint magnet. Wish it was a matte screen as well. I had some weird software issues where a few times it wouldn't resume from sleep correctly, and once where the battery sat in 100% and showed 0 drain for like 20 minutes for some reason when i was checking battery drain. Nothing huge. Also the little thing with the screen not closing flat, some weird build issue it feels like. Great laptop, and for a more budget price it's a fantastic value.

Get on sale! Steal For It's Performance
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.fairly powerful ultrabook that should be able to run most programs with ease, thanks to its fast processing speed and long-lasting battery. The screen is just amazing, with radiant colors and sharp visuals, while the backlit keyboard makes sure one can work with ease even in low-light conditions. Moreover, the solid keyboard design eliminates flex, giving it a premium feel. Drawbacks are few and far in between: the screen's glossy finish is a bit distracting in a well-lit environment; the lid is loose when shut, which is a slight demerit for build quality. The trackpad uses a diving board mechanism, not everyone may like. The laptop itself is a fingerprint magnet, and Bluetooth can get buggy at times. Pros: Fast performance Great battery life No keyboard flex Backlit keyboard OLED screen Cons: Fingerprint magnet Lid feels loose when closed Trackpad has diving board mechanism Glossy screen Buggy Bluetooth connectivity

Great Laptop, But Misleading Warranty Promise
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased an open-box Asus VivoBook S14 OLED from Best Buy listed as “Excellent – Certified” condition. The laptop itself works perfectly—no cosmetic damage, and the performance is fantastic. It was labeled as a shelf display unit, but honestly, it looks and runs like new. However, my main issue lies with the warranty promise. Best Buy advertises a 1-year manufacturer warranty for open-box laptops in excellent condition, which heavily influenced my buying decision. But once I registered the laptop with ASUS, it showed out of warranty. After some digging, I learned it only came with a 90-day warranty—and that too only after I called ASUS customer service to get it updated. Best Buy’s warranty policy for open-box units is either unclear or misleading, and that’s disappointing. I expected better transparency, especially from a major retailer. If you’re considering an open-box device from Best Buy, double-check the warranty coverage before buying. The laptop itself is great, but the warranty experience was frustrating and felt like a broken promise.
