Asus, like most computer manufacturers, is using universal packaging. In this case, there was more packaging than what was included in the box. There were actually only two things in the box it arrived in. The system itself and the charger. If you pay close attention, in the lid of the box, there's instructions on how cut and use as a stand for tour machine to store when not in use. Before first use, did my standard overnight power charge test, this did not do much as it arrived with a full charge already. The unit weighs less than 5 lbs and just over 3 lbs; very noticeable that this is very light and thin. It does not take much space at all in a laptop bag or carry case. The charger is not very big and doesn’t take up much space and could be more travel-friendly. A folding plug and a USB-C cable that can be disconnected as it already uses this as the main charging standard. Setup. Out of the box, there were initial Asus updates to firmware, BIOS, and software. This did require the use of the power adapter to ensure the machine did not lose power or have any glitches during the updates. Once these were done, there were your standard Windows updates that it needed. The Asus updates were quick while the Windows updates…we all know about the wait times and how variable they are. The machine did manage to take the latest WinOS 11 24H2 without having any issues or being bricked. Added Webroot to the machine as the preferred anti-virus program we use in our household. Once all scans were completed, signed into my Microsoft account and immediately everything was activated from binding the machine to my account to the Office Suite converting to 2021 from what was installed with the machine. Installed the commonly used PDF viewer for use and Google Chrome with no issues as the defaults. All additional software I used every day was easily installed or had an update to utilize the ARM processor appropriately. Power. Overall, the machine is pretty reactive during use and requests to open programs. I’ve not had any issues where I had long wait times or even a freeze-up during normal use. Coming out of a sleep state is quick. Asus is holding true to the advertised time of around 18 hours use time as I can get a little over 2 days of and even more of use out of the machine before it needs a charge. Size. The size and dimensions of the machine are very nice with it coming in at just over a half-inch in thickness and not taking up a lot of baggage space as noted earlier. The weight is great and not noticeable when being carried around for a day’s travel. Design. The screen has a nice clarity to it at 3k resolutions and displays very clearly from working documents, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and even a little gaming. You do have current standards of 2x USB-C ports (charging may done from either port), 1x HDMI, 1 MicroSD card slot for adding storage or use to read cards, 2 USB 3.0 5GB ports, and 1x stereo/mic combo 3.5mm jack. It is good to see the standard-sized USB 3.0 ports as Asus understands not everyone is transitioned to USB-C and people do still utilize USB 3.0 ports. The built-in webcam is very clear and adjusts nicely to the room's lighting. There’s also the included privacy slide for when the webcam is not in use and is a nice brightly colored orange to indicate it is on; covering the lens. The machine does come with facial recognition as an option. Co-Pilot, Microsoft (MS). Integration with MS Co-pilot is done very well as Co-pilot has come a long way from the early days in its everyday uses. Uses from scheduling events to helping with reviewing documents, taking quick notes, and providing additional plug-ins to take full advantage of various machine use scenarios. The AI is becoming more and more user-friendly while learning from the user what is used most via prompts.

A Standout Copilot+ Laptop from ASUS!

I’ve tested a number of laptops over the past few years, and at times they can all start to look the same, with slightly different specs, and randomized bits of technical data. The ASUS Vivobook is one of those instances in which a PC is very obviously separated from the pack of less-than-memorable machines; this is a laptop that excels in several areas, and looks fantastic doing so. Upon unboxing, you are met with one of the sleekest, thinnest, and lightest 15” laptops I’ve ever seen (or felt). Over the years I seem to gravitate towards using 13” laptops on a daily basis; the ASUS Vivobook S 15 is probably the first 15” laptop that I’ve seriously mistaken for a smaller size, just due to how slim and light it is. At .58” inches thick, and weighing barely over 3 pounds, this laptop is the definition of portable, even though it boasts a 15.6” screen. The material of the laptop case feels slightly cool to the touch, but I'm not sure it's actually made of aluminum. I couldn’t find anything online regarding what the PC is made of, so I'll assume it's some sort of plastic. That being said, if it’s plastic, it’s some of the nicest I’ve come across, as it’s so smooth it very well could be metal. The black finish looks classy, although it is a slight fingerprint magnet, at least for me it was. As you open up the laptop you are greeted with one of the nicest displays in any laptop I have ever tested. The 3K OLED display looks absolutely stunning, and the 120Hz refresh rate adds to the smoothness and overall clarity. This screen ensures that no matter what you are doing or watching, it’s simply going to look amazing on this laptop. Since it’s 15.6” as well, it really hits that sweet spot of being a great display that’s noticeably bigger than any 13”, but remains more portable than comparable 17” and 18” machines. While I’ve always stuck with laptops in the 13” range for daily use, the Vivobook is the first laptop to make me reconsider this choice. The keyboard and trackpad are also very good on this laptop, with the inclusion of a 10-key set being a nice change. The keys feel great, and they are all backlit, which can be customized to your liking. While the trackpad feels pretty standard for a device like this, I found it to be responsive and well-sized. As for specs, here’s what the ASUS Vivobook S 15 has: - Qualcomm Snapdragon X Processor running @ 3.4 gigahertz - Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Adreno Graphics - Copilot+ PC Functionality - 16 gigabytes of RAM - 512 gigabytes SSD - 3K OLED screen with 2880 x 1800 resolution I've used PCs with Copilot+ features before, and this experience was very similar, which is not a bad thing at all. The Qualcomm Snapdragon processor allows the Vivobook to process a wide range of AI-related tasks under the Copilot+ umbrella. While I think that some of these tasks still need a bit of work (trying to get the AI to spell specific words without errors takes quite a bit of prompting, patience, and perhaps luck), I overall find that these features are pretty amazing. If you’re looking for a new laptop that has the Copilot+ functionality, the Vivobook should be at the top of your list. I found that while Copilot+ features were handled easily, the overall entire user experience with this laptop is just smooth, fast, and straightforward. Windows 11 is a great operating system, and it combines perfectly with the specs and hardware in this laptop. Everything from work to entertainment; this PC is perfectly capable of doing it all with ease. The only area that I found a bit lacking was gaming, as I wouldn’t really recommend running any demanding titles on this machine. I don’t hold that against the Vivobook though, as it’s clearly not marketed as a gaming laptop. Still, it’s something to consider, if being able to play games is one of your top concerns. There are a number of other cool features packed into this device, such as a sound system designed by Harman Kardon, facial recognition for unlocking, a slide-cover for the front-facing camera, 4 USB ports (two A, two C) - along with charging that is done with a rather sleek USB-C charger, and a proximity sensor that can be used to customize how you interact with the laptop. I honestly can’t think of anything that could have been added to make this PC better, it just seems to have everything it needs to be a great laptop. As I mentioned earlier, I have been able to test a wide variety of laptops, and the ASUS Vivobook S 15 has definitely made an impression on me. This machine excels in so many areas, to the point where I truly believe it would be hard to improve upon, given how incredible it is at this price point. In this new world of Copilot+ PCs, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 stands at the forefront of what these devices are capable of. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an amazing laptop, with amazing performance and features to match!

The ASUS Vivobook S15 is as light as it comes for a 15 inch laptop. This is the first laptop I've used with a Qualcomm processor, and it doesn't miss a beat. It has no problem handling everyday tasks, from surfing the web, streaming video, and even gaming. The laptop is also quiet, as the fan is hardly noticeable, and I haven't experienced much heat from the unit during use. It comes with a beautiful OLED screen that provides rich colors and looks great streaming HD video, although the lack of the screen handling 4k/HDR/Dolby Vision content is a missed opportunity. The Harman Kardon speakers sound great, and even support Dolby Atmos spatial audio. As far as ports go, it comes with 2 USB-C and 2 USB-A ports. Most new laptops skip including USB-A ports these days, as devices usually come in USB-C format these days, so not sure why they wasted space for 2 USB-A ports. If charging, the charger occupies on of the USB-C ports, leaving only one to use. Battery Life is pretty great so far. I used it off and on for about a 9-hour period and didn't need to recharge. Other than the ports, the only other thing that I will note is that the keyboard feels a bit cramped. Like the USB-A ports, I find the inclusion of a number pad to be unnecessary. I takes up space and is a feature that I think is dated and not used very much. All in all, a really light and powerful laptop that can accomplish everything you need.

I would say that I am pleasantly surprised by this laptop. I bought this one while looking for something lightweight, with a decent sized screen, and with a good battery life since I fly a lot and work away from a desk. PROS: The Snapdragon X is far more versatile of a chip than expected. Reviews state that this chip doesn't work well with a lot of productivity software, which is true, but if you're primarily using web-based software, MS Suite, or ARM supported programs, it is surprisingly snappy. The battery life is insane, at over 2 days working without a charge. This has been the most impressive aspect. I also love the 3K OLED, it is stunning to look at, even more so than my other premium laptops with LCD screens. CONS: Again, some software is not compatible. Discord runs a little slow when typing, and most games won't play. However, I did get the Elder Scrolls IV working at decent frame rates. Just don't expect to game. Speakers are "meh" and the keyboard feels somewhat cheap. There's some flex in the lid. The track pad lacks any kind of haptics. Overall this is a great value laptop that punches above its weight and price. Worth a buy.

The laptop was excellent for the 2 days it worked flawlessly. It's extremely fast, you NEVER hear the fan even while running CPU intensive apps, screen is beautiful, and it's extremely light for a 15-inch laptop. Games that are built for ARM run fantastically. I'm running a PS2 emulator in 1080p with texture packs and it runs flawlessly at 60fps with no fan noise. Unfortunately, games not built for ARM don't run great at all (which is most of them right now). A few things that I'm not a fan of though. First, no touchscreen. At the regular $900 price point, competitors have touchscreens. I bought it during Black Friday so I can't complain for how much I spent. Secondly, speakers are bottom firing speakers. They sound great, but only when the laptop is on a table. They're pretty muffled if you use the laptop on a bed or any soft surface. If the laptop is on your lap, they sound pretty good but not as good as if the laptop is on a table. Lastly, there's no Play/Pause/Next/Previous media buttons. Beyond annoying for me. The fact that I have to download another software to do this in Spotify is sad. Now for the "dud" part. Laptop still works, except that when I unplug it, there's a good chance that it'll just reboot. Every time I power it on from an off state, it'll start loading, reboot, run a disc check, and then load Windows. No idea what the problem is but it's annoying again. Overall, I'm pretty picky and really like this laptop. Hoping Asus comes through and fixes mine so I don't have to return it.

Everything that you read about this laptop is exactly as it is. The size is awesome. The weight is great. The battery life is awesome. The screen is bright if keyboard has a nice sensitivity and even the touchpad is nice. I was surprised that the power adapters smaller than some of the other power adapters that I've seen around, but that just makes it easier to travel with. I haven't really pushed this laptop yet, but I'm sure it should be fine. I am a little concerned that it might end up overheating if I were to push it, but we'll see when we get there.

I got this on sale for $499 and it’s the best deal I’ve ever seen on a laptop. It’s fast, the OLED screen is amazing, and it weighs a little over 3 lbs, which makes it great for travel. The best part is that the 512 GB SSD is upgradeable (if you have a Torx T7 screwdriver!)

The laptop is light and the screen is large and of sharp quality. The issue is that the back of the computer was not completely sealed. I brought it in and it was sealed and checked for any dust or problem with the board. Nothing was found and then it was returned to me. When I returned home it was dead and when I tried to charge it, it would not take a charge. Not wanting to risk any future problems I exchanged it for a different brand. It is possible that the issue could have been quickly resolved, but this was the second issue with a purchased laptop, so I did not want to risk it.

ASUS Vivobook S 15 3K OLED - My New Daily Driver

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 3K OLED Laptop is designed for those who are seeking performance, creativity, and an immersive experience. Whether you’re editing videos, designing graphics, or an office power user, the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED has you covered. Unboxing & Setup: In the box is the laptop, a charging cord, the 65W charging block and warranty paperwork and user’s manual. The laptop was well packaged for shipping and most of the box material is recycled, which is a plus. First Impressions: This is a really well-built laptop; it feels solid yet is super slim and lightweight which makes it ideal for taking it on the road for work or play. The keyboard is full sized and there’s also a numeric keypad to the right of the keyboard. The numeric keypad is not full sized which I really liked as it didn’t offset the overall keyboard too much. The trackpad is a good size and is slightly offset to the left to align with the keyboard. Whether you’re editing photos, watching movies, or working on creative projects, the visuals are breathtaking, and the colors are rich and true on the 15” 3K Lumina OLED display. The Harman / Kardon certified speakers compliment the 3K OLED screen with immersive output considering the price point of this system. The ErgoLift hinge adds an ergonomic typing experience, and the single-zone RGB backlit keyboard enhances both style and functionality. Specs & Performance: Under the hood, this laptop runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor, which handles multitasking efficiently. Paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, it provides seamless performance for a variety of applications, from productivity tasks to light gaming. The Qualcomm Adreno graphics add to the visual capabilities, handling basic graphic tasks smoothly. The VivoBook S 15 comes with 512GB of SSD storage. This not only provides ample space for your files and applications but also ensures quick boot times and fast data access. Battery life is above average compared to similar laptops I’ve owned or used over the years. I streamed videos, edited photos, ran spreadsheets and just about everything else I could think to do and the battery was at 50% after more than half a day’s use. I was thoroughly impressed. That combined with the small and light charging cube and cord, this system is ideal for taking on the road. Battery charging was also above average. The Vivobook S 15 also features Copilot+ PC technology to enhance AI integration, performance, battery life, security and AI-powered features like real-time language translation. One other area that really shined on the Vivobook S 15 is the number of connectivity options for a laptop this size and price point. There are 2 x USB-C ports, 2 x USB-A ports, MicroSD card reader, 1 x HDMI and 1 x 3.5mm combo audio jack. Pros: • Brilliant 3K Lumina OLED display is the centerpiece of this laptop • Outstanding performance with support for AI – CoPilot+ Computer • Immersive audio experience while watching movies or gaming • Impressive build-quality with a sleek overall design, perfect for users on the go • Small ridge on the leading edge of the display makes it easy to open the lid • Full-sized keyboard and responsive touchpad • Multiple outputs including USB-C, HDMI and USB-A • 65W Charging brick and power cord is small and perfect for travel Cons: • The black finish is a fingerprint magnet, but hey, it’ still beautiful! In summary, if you’re looking for a laptop that combines power, style, and versatility, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 3K OLED is an excellent choice that I would recommend to anyone. With its sleek design, impressive specs, and stunning display, it’s a laptop that sparks creativity and elevates your computing experience.

I have used and tested this ASUS Vivobook laptop for about a week now. It very much reminds me of a slightly thicker Windows 11 version of my wife’s 15” MacBook Air (and the ASUS is actually a little lighter). The black color finish is nice and I can see the keys clearly. Some fingerprints on it, but not a big deal. The trackpad is very smooth and I like the gestures that can be set as well. Very responsive in my use. 120hz display is really nice for motion and mouse pointer movement and accuracy. Display resolution is VERY sharp as well (and tiny if set to 100% in Windows settings...I set it to 175% for my eyes and size preference). While the display is quite glossy it is very clear and the colors and contrast is great. I set my brightness at 70% and the power setting to peak performance (slider all the way to the right). Responsiveness and opening apps seemed very fast in all uses. The 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is perfect for my needs (I also have OneDrive storage for pics and video backup). Logging in is nice and fast with the facial recognition via the small cam at the top edge of the screen. I also like that this has WiFi 7 built in which was “ethernet-fast” on my home WiFi 7 mesh network. Plenty of ports on this laptop as well which is great...many now only offer USB-C which would require a dongle. Battery life with this combo paces out at over 8 hours for me. I'm sure I will get much longer life if I dial it back a bit, but this isn't terrible at these settings. Most usage was web browsing, email, MS Office apps, and light YouTube watching. Testing out CoPilot has worked ok so far, but I can see this improving over time as well. In summary, I think it is a good and light laptop for home or on the go use. Certainly has more than enough power, speed, and smoothness for all the apps I have used so far. And a VERY good price as well. Recommend!
