Light, great battery with a few hiccups
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a stunning piece of hardware. Its sleek design, thin bezels, and lightweight form factor are truly impressive. The black accents add a touch of elegance, though they do seem to attract fingerprints like magnets. The battery life is excellent, and the device runs cool, even under moderate load. However, while the performance is generally solid, I encountered some frustrating freezes, particularly during critical moments like online quizzes and assignments. While occasional hiccups during YouTube playback are understandable, freezing during important tasks is unacceptable. This unreliable performance has forced me to rely on my older, more stable laptop for crucial work. Given my need for a reliable device for both work and light gaming, I'm considering returning this laptop and opting for a Core Ultra 7. While I admire the design and performance of [Laptop Model Name], its occasional instability makes it unsuitable for my specific needs. Overall, this is a great laptop for casual users who prioritize style and portability. However, for those who require consistent performance, especially during demanding tasks, it may not be the best choice.

Great with some issues
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good machine, but with a couple of drawbacks I've noticed so far. Definitely a fingerprint magnet. Some compatibility issues with ARM system. Keyboard light bleeds too much under the keys, which is all we can see unless looking at the keyboard from on top. Yet, beautiful OLED display, silent (haven't heard the fan come on yet), and good battery life.

Best large-display Copilot in old school factor.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus Vivobook S 15 is a Qualcomm-based Copilot+ PC with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. It's fast, has good battery life, and is reasonably priced. If you don't mind the non-conventional display, it's a solid option for a 15-inch laptop that meets the CoPilot+ specifications. The design is impressive, featuring a clean and crisp aesthetic with a beautiful metal finish and subtle Asus branding, making it ideal for professional use. Upon opening the Vivobook, you'll find an outstanding OLED display with sharp, vibrant colors and a 2880x1620 resolution running at 120 Hz. In addition, Asus has color-calibrated the display, resulting in stunning contrast and vibrancy. Coupled with sound developed in partnership with Harman/Kardon, the Vivobook S 15 offers some of the best audio quality available in a laptop, positioning itself as a strong contender in the market. The most notable component of the hardware is the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor. It is an Arm-based system-on-a-chip (SoC) similar to Apple’s M3 line of chips found in the MacBook Air. It features an incredibly low 45W power draw. This processor is paired with 16GB of 8,440 MHz DDR5 memory, which is exceptionally high speed even by current desktop PC standards, and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 storage. With a variety of connectivity options and a relatively affordable price tag, this laptop is one of the best options for general day-to-day work. However, it has some limitations. It struggles in games due to the lack of a dedicated GPU, although AI upscaling can help improve performance. Additionally, the general AI features are somewhat limited at the moment, with only Microsoft Copilot and Co-creator being the most developed features. The keyboard on the Vivobook has large keycaps and takes up most of the available space on the wide keyboard deck. The numeric keypad, which is becoming outdated, is quite small, and the wider chassis allows for a comfortable keyboard. However, my main issue with it is that the switches are a bit loose and feel wobbly. They also lack the snappiness of some other keyboards, making them feel mushy. In comparison to other Copilot+ laptops I've reviewed, the keyboard on this one falls short. The touchpad is adequately sized, and its buttons are reasonably quiet. I would consider it similar to most mechanical touchpads I've reviewed recently, but more and more laptops are moving to the vastly superior haptic touchpads. The webcam is 1080p, which has become the new standard, and it also features an infrared camera for Windows 11 Hello facial recognition. The fast NPU with up to 45 tera operations per second (TOPS) exceeds the Copilot+ specification of 40 TOPS, and currently supports Copilot+ features like enhanced Microsoft Studio Effects, Live Captions, and Cocreator. However, the controversial Recall feature, which was the standout when the Copilot+ PC initiative was announced, remains on hold. Asus also includes a host of utilities that might use the NPU to some extent, but it’s hard to quantify at this point. Overall, this is a great OLED Windows ARM Based Co-Pilot laptop for work and productivity. However, if you're looking for a gaming laptop, I would recommend looking elsewhere unless you plan to game on cloud services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming or nVidia cloud gaming (which requires a monthly subscription to those cloud gaming services). In that case, this laptop would be perfect with its crisp display and sound with the only con being the keyboard could of been a bit better thus the rating for 4 stars out of 5.

great budget option for media consumption
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop open box excellent for 505 + tax, now lets talk about the screen its 3k +120hz so its smooth as butter while scrolling but the laptop is non touch meaning its useless, as you cant really game on this thing aswell, but movie watching is just pure delight on this laptop absolutely silent so no distraction, no the speakers are decent enough with loudness and average bass, but as the speakers are bottom firing, the laptop just mutes itself as soon as its kept on the mattress, now I know you shouldn't use a laptop on a mattress but remember this is snapdragon processor, its very efficient and doesn't produce much heat when ideling or doing basic tasks, The battery, it just keeps going, I used this one on around 60-70% brightness and the battery life was around 8-10 hrs, which is not bad, but I returned it, because got a good openbox deal on the vivobook pro which has a 3050 in it, so I can game and under 1000 dollars, so I had to get that one, hence the initial questions and rant about how asus put the best display in a laptop that cant game, and but an average on in the one that can! so only buy this if you want to do chrome, MS office, and media consumption, because the Intel core ultra series 1/2 Is a better option for around the same price and battery performance because it has better compatibility and similar thermal performance.

Exceptional Laptop with Minor Quirks
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll keep this brief. The screen is stunning and the laptop feels incredibly snappy. Face recognition is fantastic for logging in and the webcam is pretty good. The keyboard and track pad work well and the speakers are mediocre. The battery life seems pretty good but nothing crazy like other reviews would have you think. I have had minor Quirks with drivers, such as certain programs not working and screen flickering at times, but that's just a feature of these Qualcomm laptops I'm afraid. For the price I paid, it's pretty good. For $900? Buy something else.

Great machine for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a new laptop for my 9 yo daughter and was not considering an arm PC at all, but the sale price (almost 50% off) was irresistible. I was also curious. If I had bought the laptop for me, I would have returned it, but my daughter loves it, so it's a keep. What's great: - unbeatable sales' price for specs and quality - light weight - nice display. I didn't like it initially, the colors seem over-saturated. After a while I got used to it, but see my "not so great" comments. On the good side, it is super bright. - long battery life, 10+ hours easily with internet browsing mostly and screen at about half brightness. I have not tried "heavy" applications yet, but as a software developer, I am curious to see what mileage I can get when coding/compiling/running/debugging some "big" applications. I will try one of these days... - the quality seems okay with what I assume is an aluminum body, but only time will tell if it holds up - The machine is snappy, 16Gb and 512GB SSD is more than enough for the needs of my daughter What's not so great: - the display: for one it is 16:9. I have switched to 16:10 exclusively and didn't realize how much of a difference it makes. This is a personal preference, most people probably don't care. More bothersome is the glossy finish. It is really reflective. All my other machines displays and monitors are matte finish or semi glossy (with some anti reflective coating). Seeing myself in the display of the Asus laptop under every day conditions is absolutely killing me. My daughter doesn't care though, so it might only be a "me" thing again. - the trackpad has this clicking movement and sound with the lightest of touch. It doesn't actually trigger a software click (which is good), but it is so annoying because it basically happens almost every time you start to move the cursor. Not sure this is only on that machine, but it just drives me nuts. - the keyboard lighting seems to vary at times (it just goes very dim no matter what). Hopefully this will be solved with some software fix. Also, the first time you start the laptop, the keyboard shows different colors, but I couldn't find a way to do it in Windows. I installed armory crate, but it doesn't find the keyboard. Something else that hopefully will be solved. - the keyboard typing is average, not great, but not the worst. I don't type super fast, so most keyboard are fine for me, but people who type at the speed of light might not like that keyboard at all. - finally, software support is still not there for me. That's not an issue with the machine, just know what you are getting into and do your research. I don't use Windows, so I don't care about software support on that OS, but I would like to be able to run Linux (which I use personally all the time and for work whenever possible). It might be a while before I can do so. Even on Windows, if I want for example test the battery life using some of my usual development apps, I am not sure everything will run natively (or even run at all). For my daughter needs, software support is not an issue at this time. She spends all her time in a browser and she has a separate machine to play games (which luckily she doesn't do often), so she is the typical user for which this machine is more than perfect. Overall, a great machine for every day use. I am excited to see another CPU for PCs and even of the software side (speaking of Windows), I am impressed by how well things works. I will probably stay on x86 for the next couple of years though until the Arm PCs ecosystem gets stronger and more options (Linux) are available. My daughter score: 5/5 My score: 3/5 (this is if I had bought the machine for myself, which I would not have done anyway)

Nitro Laptop Review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this laptop!! It's fast (Nvidia RTX 4060), plenty of RAM (16gb) for multitasking and keeping many windows and apps open, plenty of storage (1TB). Reasonably priced ($500-800). Although i found a flaw. When using the mouse to the right of the touchpad, pulling it back off of the laptop for some reason throws system into hibernation/sleep mode. Magnet issue perhaps? Unsure if different mouse would be better. (Will try that next before replacing laptop) *Currently using a scimitar gaming mouse $85). Only other gripe i have is the battery life. It drains very quickly. Would help to have a battery protection mechanism installed to be able to keep plugged in without hurting battery. I rate it an B+/A- overall! Solid Buy!

Amazing OLED Screen
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: This laptop has a beautiful OLED screen. 4k movies look great and the speakers are very good for a laptop. Snapdragon X processor is plenty fast for most day to day tasks. Cons: Windows on Arm64 is still not supported by most software companies as of late 2024. This should be less of a problem in 2025 and beyond. The performance to battery life just makes sense for laptops and I think more companies will wake up and start supporting Windows on Arm. Apple showed it was worth it, and early adopters had to wait a little while as well. Hopefully, this won’t be a con for long. The other con is with gaming performance, the game I can play casually with the kids, Roblox, runs perfectly fine on an Arm Macbook Air M1, but stutters terribly on snapdragon. Hopefully, this will he fixed with patches in the future as well and wont be a con. Dont expect to play AAA titles on this, but casual lower demanding and older titles should eventually run fine. Overall, this is a great multimedia and productivity laptop. The screen more than makes up for the cons. If you can get it at the black friday and early December pricing it is a steal.

I like it so far !!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Vivobook S 15. I have not had it that long but I have had it for a little while. It has a gorgeous screen. But I do somewhat prefer a 16:10 aspect ratio. Looking at the specs it has a well sized battery. I think it has good battery life but I haven't tested it yet. So far it seems powerful enough for my use. My use is simple enough that x86 native apps haven't been a requirement. I wish I could upgrade the memory, and I would have liked if the Snapdragon X Plus supported linux. As I understand only the X Elite does. But I hope linux support comes eventually if not sooner.

ASUS Vivobook S15 Snapdragon X Plus
|Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, an awesome laptop if you're mainly looking to have something on the go with a really nice screen and incredible battery life. Having a numberpad is also awesome in my book, if you're mainly looking to use online services such as google or the cloud. This thing is perfect. If you're trying to download a bunch of stuff, there are some programs and software that do not work on ARM.

Nice battery life with good performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast system with great battery life. Had an issue where windows wouldnt boot properly and had to hard reset. Some software is just straight up not compatible or buggy. Great for people whos software is compatible pr works fine even under emulation (light users) for the 500-550$ price.

Great Laptop if you can find it discounted!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen on this laptop is awesome!!! Colors and content look amazing, and it feels very fluid and smooth. The keyboard is okay... I'm not a fan of how it's shifted to the side to accommodate a number pad; It would have been much better with just a fully centered keyboard and top number row. The touchpad is meh... decent, but not great. The clicks are not that satisfying. The performance has been good, and the battery life has been very solid. I did need to do some work to optimize things. It comes with a lot of bloat. With all those gripes listed, the core of it is great. It does what I need it to for school, and it was an awesome deal at $497 with tax included.

Nice display, look for a sale or open box
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent little chromebook. Quick to respond and easy to setup. Using it to take online courses and note taking. Keyboard is responsive and quite. The backlight can be changed in settings. Quick buttons for brightness and volume. Display is pretty. Not as deep as most OLED monitors. But color is still vivid. Speakers are clear. Better than average laptops but nothing to write home about. Track pad is okay. Average. Cost wise brand new is little much. I found one open box with everything included. Laptop in brand new shape. Worth at a discount.

Solid device for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty solid laptop. Does almost everything I need and with a great battery life. Just have to be careful of installing programs because the Snapdragon processor is an ARM processor, so you have to make sure you software installer is compatible with the ARM processor. Otherwise, really great value for the device, its capabilities and the addition of Copilot.
