Detachment between keyboard and display screen

The display screen is starting to detach from the keyboard, and it did not even experience any physical damage such as being dropped, scratched, etc. I would say that the laptop itself is placed at a fair price, but I would want to see a solution for this issue.

DON'T BUY. BEST BUY AND ASUS SUCK

Firmware or power delivery problem within 2 weeks.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within 2 weeks it failed in an extemely-odd way where the CPU would not run faster than 300MHz. That means it takes minutes to boot up, task manager takes 30 seconds to load, etc. It doesn’t matter if it’s plugged in or not. There is only one power profile (balanced). I reinstalled Windows, but the issue persists. Even the UEFI takes 30+ seconds to load each page. I have the latest version 305 of the UEFI/firmware and all the latest updates according to MyASUS. Also, the laptop constantly has issues with Windows Hello. You’re supposed to be able to use facial recognition, but it throws a “reset Windows Hello” error on every startup and it, quite literally, never works.

Unstable and runs hot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Purchased this initially as an open box, but after some stability and WiFi problems I decided to exchange it for a new one. I got the new one home, and the setup went significantly better. I got through the initial setup, ran system and windows updates, Updated the Bios, and began installing my applications. While using AC power everything appeared to be good, however when I switched to Battery power it began experiencing the same problems as the open box. It locked up solid to the point that the curser wouldn't even move across the screen. I had to hard boot the laptop to get it to be usable again. Once again when it booted up wifi would be detected but wouldn't connect. This would eventually connect once left to idle for ~1-2 minutes. I reached out to support using the My Asus app and while chatting with Asus support the laptop crashed again (no curser movement, clock stopped, just a complete crash). I tried to reconnect to chat after rebooting and couldn't get through. Asus did send an email with a phone number and case number, however when calling it sounded like they would pickup, but nobody was there. I sat that way for over 10 min until the call was ended. I love the style, the size, and how light this computer is, however with the stability problems I don't think this is a very practical computer for most people.

It is normal for laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy, like running resource-intensive applications, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While running resource-intensive application, please ensure no other resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. About the stability issue you are experiencing, please do a Cloud Recovery, as a last resort, since Windows, drivers, BIOS and applications are updated. Beware: Sudden Slowdown HDM Fail, No Intl Warranty

Still I went ahead and bought based on the many other positive reviews. Sadly, a week or two after I set up the laptop, I experienced the sudden slowdown described by "fozzy." After shutdown and reboot, the laptop seemed to return to normal. Then a couple of days later, I experienced another random, sudden slowdown (CPU running at 300MHz only). The fan also turned on and ran at high speed. Once again, a shutdown and reboot did the trick. But sadly, in the days to come, I would experience 2-3 more sudden slowdowns. Because it was so random, not triggered by any activities in particular, I wonder what if it slows down while I am giving an important presentation? Yesterday, after another sudden slowdown, the HDMI failed. I tried video output through USB-C (which used to work fine), that also failed. On the bright side, this may help diagnose the problems, likely a hardware issue. I am currently working in Hong Kong, and will be here for a few months. I called ASUS support here this morning, only to find out that the warranty is US-based, no International Warranty (unlike another ASUS laptop I bought a few years ago, though I ended up returning it). How sad and disappoint?!!! So beware, I think there is a quality control issue with this laptop! I wish I can return it, but it is too late! ASUS owes me a new functional machine! Honestly, I am losing faith with ASUS, and am very disappointed with the lack of international support. So beware. I would not recommend this laptop even if when it goes on sale.

Good product, but avoid best buy

The device was overheating and the sound had an issue when I got it. This was in open box "good" condition. I went to the store that day and they told me well it's still under warranty so you could send it in or you could just return it. I talked to ASUS and they had me send it in. The next day the computer dropped in price by about $50. I talked online and they told me to go to the store. At the store the guy told me he could just return it but needed the device. I told him I sent it in for repairs and it might not be back in time for the return window. He said no problem, just bring it back when it comes in. I did so and guess what, no it's a problem all of a sudden. He refused to offer the difference back. So just know if you buy open box here, it's going to have problems and you're going to get frustrated. They won't offer you a price match or anything so unless you are prepared to deal with frustration, just buy your open box items from elsewhere cause it's just not worth it here.

Not good. Avoid this one

Overheating & loud

Don’t buy this!!!

Broke after two weeks and warranty isn't honored

It's clearly a hardware issue, and it came like this when I bought it. It was open box at Best Buy, and they assured me the warranty would still be valid. However, they told me to go to Asus for repair, and Asus tells me to go to Best Buy. It's an endless loop with no way out.

Horrible product

Now its running slow, taking twenty minutes to boot up. I have to restart it several times and each time is taking five minutes. I wish i had purchased extended coverage agreement, but i didn't think I would need it since I only use it for school work. I would not recommend this product at all.

Faulty Battery, Repairs do not help

Was a nice laptop for school when it worked, but at this price point with the amount of issues it faces, I would heavily recommend staying away. Laptop no longer works when not connected to power, completely defeating the purpose of the laptop.

No Audio. After Repair, Same Issue

Laptop was returned to Asus for repair. They said they replaced the motherboard and repaired laptop had the same problem less than 24hrs after it was returned. Very frustrating. Don't buy this laptop!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bad laptop. I have had issues with audio from the beginning. I took once to BBY. However, they could not fix it. They told me to send it to ASUS. I will be without laptop for couple of weeks. More recently the video card failed. It is just out of warranty!

Died after 2 months
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely died after 2 months of lite use. No power / no lights/ no nothing. Spoke to Asus and the best they would do is take it back for review and repair. They said that would take about 2 weeks. I was disappointed that they didn't offer to replace and not impressed with their willingness to stand behind their product. Last Asus for me.
