I bought this in a pinch, when my computer's CD-ROM drive suddenly stopped working - A godsend for the work I do.

My new computer didn't have an optical drive. Since I have terrible internet and it was now tax time, I needed to use a tax software disk instead of online preparation. I also have a great many photos that are on CD's that I needed to transfer, so this was a good option, with not a great expense. It was a lot slower to use than the built-in drives that I have had in the past and actually took multiple attempts to get the software loaded completely. It is a nice, slim size so it doesn't take up much room to use. It would have been really helpful if this drive came with a little case of some sort to store it in, along with the cords. As it is, I have to put everything back in the much bigger box it came in when I'm not using the device.

The ASUS ZenDrive is light weight and easy to transport. It is truly a plug and play item that worked correctly when plugged into the USB port. The drive is quiet and quick!

ASUS ZenDrive external 8X USB 2.0 drive is plug and play to install on PC. It supports audio CD, video CD, DVD+/-RW, DVD-ROM (SL/DL), DVD-RAM, DVD video. USB type-C and type-A cables are included. It comes with a CD for bundled software such as Nero BackitUp. It also says it supports Mac OS X 10.6 and above. So far I have not encountered any issues with the Drive and the 8X speed is good.

Works great! Received it and immediately started burning music CDs. Its super quiet and really fast. Tramsferred it to another lap top and did the same thing, just plug and play. Great purchase

I used this to download MRI scans and it worked Wonderfully.

Not as fast to start up as the built-in CDR in my old HP laptop, but it works very well otherwise. Everything's outboard now, since laptops don't include CDRs any longer.

As optical discs go by the wayside, I'm deploying computers without optical drives. Inevitably, there will be a disc that needs read about once a month. In comes this product, works perfectly for what I need, we take it to the computer that needs it, plug it in, it reads immediately and is ready to use. Also, it comes with both a standard USB 3.0 connector AND a USB type C connector, which the computers have on the front. Makes it easy for users to not have to line up the connector, as USB-c is ambidextrous. Drive is also quiet, too. Highly recommended.

Its an ASUS product so you know the quality is going to be there. CD-roms are unfortunately becoming a thing of the past, however, there are times when you "need" one.. which I did, so I figured why not buy a good one and keep it for those far and inbetween moments.

great item for convering cds or dvds to you computer

Bought it to open a cd on my computer since no one has cd drives now. Installed without a hitch. Unfortunately I don’t really have a use for it now. Good thing it wasn’t very expensive.

My new gaming machine came without a DVD player so I purchased the ASUS. Glad I did. Good value, true plug and play, and lightning fast.

I found some old discs with pictures we wanted to retrieve. The ZenDrive was easy to set up and I was able to see and save the photos I wanted onto a stick. My daughter was able to use it to watch a DVD on her computer.

Excellent writer, quiet, and fast. Better than the other writers I have used. Plus, it works with Windows 11. For reading, I use only 1 USB-A connector, for writing I use both to ensure writing quality.
