I'm liking this phone. The ability to walk into my house, plug my cell phone in to recharge and then walk away knowing that I won't miss a cell call when I'm in the other room (because this home phone system rings with any cell or land-line call) is awesome. The phone works fine, the range is fine, the handsets and base unit are easy to use and understand. Setup was easy, linking my cell phone to this system was fast and simple. A few things I learned... If you're like most folks, you put your base unit in your kitchen, which is where home builders install that big flat plate for home phones. If you install your base for this phone there, you are committed to recharge your cell phone within 30 feet of that. And that distance is significantly less if you have any obstructions (like walls) between the base unit and your normal cell phone charging location. This isn't a PHONE system limitation, it's a Bluetooth limitation, and it's normal. Charging your phone in the kitchen is not a problem for calls, as you can answer and make any call on your land-line or cellular phone from any handset in your house. But you will miss your text messages if you're not hearing your cell phone right next to you. This phone system doesn't alert you to text messages, only to calls. The solution for me was to install my base unit in my bedroom next to where I charge my cell phone. If I'm not in that room, I can answer and make calls on my cell phone using any handset I have set up throughout the house. If I'm sleeping or in the bedroom, I can use my cell or I can still use the AT&T hanset to answer or make the calls, and I can hear and deal with text messages on my cell. It works great! If I were King, I'd make this system have customizable ringers (they give you 10 programmed ones), I'd have installed a color screen that is programmable, I'd give it a headset port and a clip to hook on your belt for long phone calls, and I'd let the base speak the caller ID info like many other cordless phone systems do. But then again, the cost of this phone would be double for all those goodies. The bottom line is that I'm happy to use this system due to its ability to use Bluetooth!

Bought this phone and found one of the handset phone not working (ear speaker not working). Exchanged for the same phone. Had the phone for a week, sound is good, range is good, and battery is good. Bluetooth works fine and easy to set up, but can only pair one phone at a time. Return the phone due to the cheap materials used, this made the phone feel unsturdy.

    Excellent Phone

Since some of the other reviews had problems with the battery I'll start there. My set came with 3 phones. Out of the package all of the batteries were discharged but within an hour or two of charging they were usable to setup and test. They were completely charged by the next morning. The manual says 16 hours and that seems about right. It has some features that I really like. The fact that it was blue tooth enabled was one of the reasons I wanted this phone but I mistakenly thought I could use my wireless ear piece with it. Still I have found it useful when I am around the house. Once my cell phone is paired with it I can still answer calls to it anywhere without having to remember to drag the cell phone with me or run scrambling when I forget. You can also make calls as if from your cell. Another nice feature is the fact that each handset is updated when you perform certain tasks on any one of them. If you add a name to the directory it appears on all phones. If you check your missed calls the indicator goes away on all phones or if you answer a call it does not appear as missed on the ones that you didn't. That is something I've never had on a phone before. The main reason I was prompted to look for a new phone was that my wife was complaining about not being able to hear conversations on the ones we had. With this system she appears more than satisfied. My sister - in - law said I sounded loud so I guess it works good both ways. Conversations on the intercom are very crisp. Which leads me to my one and only complaint thus far and it is a small one. Their is no button on the handset to intercom to another handset. You must go to the phone's menu and scroll to intercom then put in the number of the phone you want to call. That's not a big deal but it could be easier. It has an answering machine which I didn't want but it is getting harder to find one without it so I just turned it off since I have voice mail. Overall, I am very pleased with the phone. In addition to what I have already stated it is sleek and stylish. It looks good in the room.

First of all before buying this product I reviewed everyone's reviews on the web page, and my experience was much better. This phone is stylish and easy to use within minutes of opening the box you will have it setup and running on your home system. The new and improved DECT 6.0 has excellent vocal qualities and it won't interfere with your wireless network. If volume is a concern for you this phone answers that problem--you can adjust the volume from loud to dim, and loud is great. The handsets also have a speaker phone which is great! The bluetooth works with my Blackberry perfectly. A features that would be nice to see in future phones would be the ability to connect with bluetooth to multiple phones at one time, and connect to your headset the same time as you connect to your cell phone. Another negative aspect is the 50 phone number address book, it would be nice to have a lot more contacts then that. We are using this phone with our TMobile@Home service.

The quality of the product is great. The voice quality with my home line is crystal clear and am able to take calls several 100 feet from the base station without any noticable drop in voice quality. The bluetooth feature is really easy to setup but the voice quality isnt the best. I have it setup with an iPhone and can notice some static. However the caller on the other end doesn't seem to notice any difference. I am not quite sure if its the iPhone or the cordless that is having these problems. Also the handset do not display the clock. You can see when calls were placed by reviewing the call history but I couldnt find a way to get the handset to show the current time. The directory is stored on the base station and makes it easy to add/delete numbers. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the product so far.

    Awesome Phone System

Purchased the TL92278 Answering System and 4 additional TL90078 expansion handsets 5 weeks ago. Very impressed! I was replacing an ATT 5.8 GHZ 5840 Answering system and 5800 wireless expansion handsets after over 6 years of great service. The 5800 expansion handsets were dying and new replacements were over $95.00 each. Replacing the 5840 system with this was an economic no brainer. The hot new feature on the TL92278 system is the BlueTooth feature that allows tying in one cell phone to the system. The cell phone can be answered or used as the source of a call with any system handset. Works great with my i-phone. Only issue I've experienced is that power interruptions cause the bluetooth connection to fail. Easily corrected by resetting the connection. I found that the i-phone must go through "forget device" before it will re-aquire and reconnect. Normally, (absent any loss of power) the cell phone is automatically re-aquired and reconnected when I return within system range after leaving the house. The cell phone ring tone can be set different from the home line on each of the expansion handsets so its easy to know which phone "line" needs answering. The typical features like directory, call logs, and all answering system features work flawlessly. I find it easier to go back and hear old messages on this system over the old 5840 because it provides more options for doing so. This wireless system is a great system. I would expect it will be improved by allowing it to BueTooth multiple cell phones in future models but for now the system permits only one cell phone tie in.

I bought this product as part of a plan to drop my land line phone service. I've had it about 4 days. Setup was easy. Connecting to the cell phone was a matter of pressing the blue tooth button on the AT&T phone, and then telling my cell phone to look for the AT&T phone. This is different than just making the cell phone "visible". The cell phone has remained connected to the AT&T phone. It disconnects when I leave the house, and automatically reconnects when I return. My cell phone sits about 2 feet from the AT&T. On several calls the sound quality has been excellent. I have not had any complaints from people I have called (so far). Making a cell phone call is just like making a land line call. You just enter the number, or select a number from the internal phone book, and press the "celluar" button. You hear a couple of beeps, the handset connects with the cell phone, and the call is dialed. I can now answer and make calls on my cell phone on any of 4 extension phones in my house without having to carry or located my cell phone all the time. The AT&T comes with a base station and one extension. I've purchased 2 additional extensions. The next steps are to add a dedicated cell phone line to my celluar account ($10 a month), transfer my home phone line to the cell phone, connect that cell phone with the AT&T, and then drop my land line service and save $64 a month.

Overall I love this phone and the features it has. I feel that it was well worth the price. I read many reviews on this model before I bought it, and I was a bit worried about the "searching for base" issue that a few people have had. but a friend of mine had been using this model for a few weeks with no problems so I decided to buy it... I'm glad I did. at first I couldn't get it to "auto-reconnect" to my bluetooth cellphone, but quickly figured out that my cellphone settings were the problem. I haven't had any problems with this cordless phone itself. the base is compact and well designed with good button placement. overall the handset is too, with one exception; the cellphone button is located at the bottom of the phone (you use this button to call/answer through your cellphone). the 'home' button (to call/answer landline calls) is well placed like any other cordless, the cellular button should have been right above it (where the redial/pause button is). that is my only real gripe with this phone, but you get used to it. I think AT&T underestimated the number of people who would use that cellphone/bluetooth feature as their primary phone hookup. one thing I love about this phone is that any name/number that you store in the directory will display when that person calls. I have had several caller-ID cordless sets in the past, and none of them would do that. the display would show the caller-ID description and ignore your phonebook/directory entry. for example, if you have a friend named John Smith; the display on most caller-ID phones would display "Smith, J.", with this phone it would display whatever you entered into your phonebook/directory (i.e. it could say "John - Home"), this feature is even better with cellphones (where most cordless phone displays would read "wireless caller", this phone could read "John - Cell"). my only gripe with the directory is that you can only store 50 names/numbers. the built-in answering machine works good, but you can only select the number of rings in even number increments (2, 4, or 6 rings). my landline voicemail picks up on the 4th ring (and my service cannot disable voicemail or change the number of rings). my only option to use the answering machine is to set it to 2 rings, which is fine when I'm not home but no good when I am because caller-ID doesn't show up until the second ring. regarding bluetooth auto-reconnect; if you use more than 1 bluetooth handsfree device with your cellphone, then you need to make sure that the "AT&T DECT 6.0" is set as the default handsfree device in your cellphone's bluetooth settings. also, if your cellphone is already connected to another handsfree device then it will not connect to the DECT base until you disconnect the other device (you can have them both paired at the same time, but you can only connect to one at a time). I read a review that complained about the cellphone needing to be close to the base. this is true with any bluetooth device, it's not a product fault. to keep power consumption to a minimum, [standard direct device-to-device] bluetooth has a maximum effective range of only 10 meters (~32ft). I don't see this as a problem though, unless you live in a mansion then that range should be sufficient. just keep the base where you normally charge your cellphone and it will always be in range. mine is already connected when I pull in my driveway, I walk into my house to see the blue light already lit. overall, I give this phone set 4 stars. it works great, looks great, has a small footprint. it is a good value IMO, sound quality is crystal clear and plenty loud, cordless range is excellent, and the built quality is good. if there was a rating category for functionality then I would have deducted 1 or 2 stars for the poorly placed cellular button. that is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I would however still highly recommend this model to anyone. I hope this review was helpful :)

Naysayer reviews Almost Killed The Sale! ALMOST!!!

I alsmost did not buy because of naysayers, I read a lot of negative reviews on this model. NOTE the problem with Searching for base occurs when the battery connection in the phones come loose. ALSO Plug in the base to the power cord and begin installing the batteries one at a time. This will register each phone in sequence. No problems with dropped calls but the bluetooth cellphone does have to be inside the house near the base. YOu might try to move the base away from routers and other electronics. It doesnt interfere with them however, I have a feeing they might interfere with it, or atleast cause some static in the bluetooth connection. Experiment with your base. I tried leaving the cell phone in the car with bluetooth on and even 30 feet away from the base through one exterior wall I got static. All in all it is great and works great if you install the batteries correctly and make sure you have the phone plug snapped in the base and the power cord connected to the base and the outlet before you start installing batteries! Again, the range is good , the sound quality is good but ina perfect world could be louder, and the reviews speaking about searching for base. I suggest you uninstall your batteries and start over and do as I say step 1 plug in base to power, step 2 make sure phone line clicks in securely, step 3 install batteries in handsets and let them register 1 2 3 Also remember if you dont ge ta good cell phone signal these phones can not help that. If you have a cheap phone that the bluetooth is mediocer, this phone cant help that.... And furthermore, if you think your going to leave the cell phone in a car outside or even in a garage, expect static. I am glad I took a chance and went out on a limb and bought it. Keep in mid, I am still hanging on to my receipt just in case I am wrong.. I suggest if your ever iffy about something like this that you really really really want remember if it does turn out to be a nightmare, Best Buy will take it back without requiring your first born....

I too was put off by the lack of reviews, but also noted that the low scores were just from people that thought they were getting something that this phone isnt. I love this phone. I ordered two different phones in case I had problems with this one, but I think the people that cut in and out just have issues with their phone line, cell phone placement, or not having a dsl filter in place. I have not had any sound issues or cutting in and out issues in the 5 weeks I've used the phone. I use it equally for my home line and as a handset for my cell phone. I love that my cell phone just has to be in one place and I can answer the line from any handset in the house. I really wanted this phone because the cell phones are so small when I have a newborn I need to be able to put the phone between my chin and shoulder and thats not possible with a cell phone. But I wont even be shouldering this phone, because unlike my previous home phone, the speaker function on this handset is OUTSTANDING. Plus you lay the phone flat to use the speaker function instead of standing it up. I also didnt want to walk around the house with my cell phone, going in and out of staticy spots. This phone is exactly what its described as and works perfectly for all my needs.

After I read the reviews of the AT&T Dect 6.0 with Bluetooth I was a little skeptical about buying but since it was on sale I figured I would try it out. My first test was I made a couple of calls through our regular Qwest phone line and it was very clear and very easy to understand the other people. Later I connected to my cell phone by using Bluetooth. I first kept the cell phone in my pocket and noticed while having the base unit downstairs as soon as I walked up stairs it became very static and would break-up. It does say to leave the cell phone within 1-12 feet of the base unit (the answering machine unit). So I placed the cell phone within about 6 feet of the base unit and walked the entire house and garage and it came in perfectly clear. I think this is the key for anyone that said the bluetooth didn't work well be sure to keep the cell phone within 1-12 ft. of the base unit, otherwise it will cause a lot of static. While on the Bluetooth connection I used the speakerphone on the handset and after awhile I told the person on the other line and they said they didn't even realize I had them on speakerphone and they said they normally can tell immediately. Overall I found the connection much better than my Bluetooth Motorola headset. I have not encountered any interference and I like the weight and long battery life of the phone. I have used the expandable handset and didn't notice any difference in clarity from the base unit. I also like that you can create different ringtones for a home phone line call and your cell phone line.

You are able to use this phone with either your Cell phone or your Land Line. Or both at the same time. When we call family we use the Cell phone because of its free long distance. With this phone both of use can get on separate handsets and talk using the Cell phone. And if a call comes in through the land line while we are using the Cell phone we can answer it separately. We have voicemail through our land line phone service so we don't use the voicemail system on the phone. But the handsets tell us when we have a voicemail through our provider. I have yet to find a negative with this phone. I dropped it and it survived....the call quality is great and it is a very comfortable phone to use. I can't say enough good about his phone.

The sound quality of this phone is great when using the handset normally or with the speaker phone. It always auto-connects to my blackberry pearl using the bluetooth when i get home and it is much nicer to talk on than the blackberry. This is hands down the best phone I have ever owned. The digital message machine works well too and was simple to set up.

I bought this for my parents as a christmas gift to replace an older at@t unit. My mom had wanted an intercom function so she could contact my dad in his workshop. Since they use the cell phone more for long distance the bluetooth capability is a big plus. I read in other reviews that this was a problem for some, but I have not experienced this. Clarity is very good and setup of the phone connection was fairly easy. The only thing that I found that I say is a negative is that when you make cellular call that is a direct number it may seem a bit cumbersome at first.. but after you get accustomed to the phone it's great. I may buy one for my home.

I purchased these phones because I am tired of paying for a land line. The bluetooth connectivity allows you to use your cell phone throughout your home on a typical home phone system where multiple people can talk on multiple handsets at a time. I haven't experienced the dropped conversations mentioned by the other two reviewers. Perhaps it is the quality of the bluetooth connectivity provided by the cell phone. I tried the bluetooth with both my wife's LG and my Samsung cell phones and they both worked just fine. I looked at other phones with bluetooth and their reviews mentioned some of the same problems that others have mentioned here. Folks seem to either have great success or the problem mentioned previously. The speakerphone, caller ID and directory all seem to work fine.

We live in a part of the Cape where there's virtually NO cell phone signal. (Doesn't matter who the carrier is - we've tried 'em all!) This phone works great if you leave it about a foot from the base station. Answering cell phone calls v. regular land line calls took a little acclimation. Now we just look for the blinking blue light. The DECT 6.0 allows for a much better range - especially when out back gardening - without losing any sound or call quality. Would DEFINITELY recommend this product.

Purchased this phone 3 days ago and am seriously disappointed with it. The sound quality is horrible, especially when using the speaker function. You only hear part of what the caller is saying because the speaker cuts in and out. I cant even use it because Im only getting half of the conversation. The other disappointing points for this phone is that the display doesnt show time or date on the front screen. You only get the caller ID screen showing what time someone called. Other than that the front screen shows HANDSET 1 (or 2 depending on which handset you have) which is a major drawback. Not that I use my phone as a clock, but its a nice feature thats usually built into most phones. The phone was easy to set up, but its just not worth the money. I will be returning it today to exchange it for something else. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

I got this phone to pair with my cell and eliminate my land line. So far, this phone has been great for me. After 6 weeks of use, I have only experienced the "Searching for Base" issue once. Other than that, the only problems I have experienced were caused by my cell phone. While the handset volume may be a little low at times, it is perfectly acceptable and the speakerphone quality is very high. I very much like this phone and am happy that I did not buy one of the more expensive ones. Overall, this is an excellent $90 solution to eliminate your land line. It will pay for itself in 3 months.. However, you need to be just a little technically savvy in order for it to work well for you.

I was initially excited about this phone and its features, but that faded very quickly. AT&T is on the right track with this phone, but it has a couple of serious flaws that makes it far from ready for prime time. The most serious flaw is that while using the bluetooth feature with your cell phone, the caller on the other end cannot hear you while they are talking. This leads to an awful lot of "huh's" and "what did you say's" that is very frustrating. The call does sound normal on this end of the conversation however. This alone makes this phone hard to live with. The other feature that I am used to having, and that is missing on this phone is access to the answering machine through the handsets. If you miss a call, say while you are working in the shop, you can only hear the messages, if there even are any, at the base unit. This defeats one of the purposes of the cordless phone in my opinion. I did try AT&T's email support and they responded with "Due to the nature of your inquiry, your request will need to be handled by a live representative who can provide you with detailed information." Be aware that their "live representatives are not available on weekends. Overall, this phone would have been a winner if it did not have these two serious flaws. Maybe the next version will fix these problems, but for now, I would would recommend looking elsewhere. Mine is going back to the store.
