Excellent turntable for the money!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great player and is new for 2019. "Replaces" the prior 120 line but doesn't have a feature to adjust the tonearm height. But the cartridge included is MASSIVELY improved. The Audio-Technica AT-VM95E cartridge alone is an excellent cartridge, and it's included. USB connectivity just works with my computer and other devices. I've even connected this via USB-OTG to my phone which recognized it! Doesn't include software but Audacity is free. The built in pre-amp using the LINE output works really well. I've attached a Bluetooth transmitter directly to the LINE output and it works well. My home A/V receiver doesn't have a PHONO input, but if yours does, you can switch to that option. The included REMOVABLE RCA cable does have a ground wire. The sound is more dynamic and more powerful than the LP60 line from the same company. I'll put ease of use at 4/5 as a novice will need to get use to how this works, it will not auto start or stop (like the LP60 models) and needs a few minutes to set it up the tone arm, ant-skate and tracking force. I would recommend watching Audio-Technica's instructional videos instead of relying on the very basic instructions. Bottom line- if you're looking to spend $250 or less (this is often on sale or less it appears) I don't think you'll do better for a complete setup with a decent pre-amp built in. You can add a Bluetooth transmitter for $30 or less from Best Buy if you "need" that feature. If you're considering the lower cost Audio Technica turntables available from Best Buy, I've used the LP60 and this blows it away. It's worth the price difference for the cartridge and improved pre-amp, if you don't care about the USB feature.

Best bang for the buck in an inexpensive turntable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Borrowing engineering from its highly regrarded Technics 1200 forebearers no longer made, this seems to be the best entry level turntable for the money these days. Ready to go right out of the box with minimum assembly. You can plug this into a preamp from the phono out terminal or directly into an amplifier without preamp through the aux. out, that is to say this unit has the equivalent of its own built in preamp if need be. I went right into my flea powered SET amplifier. Extra bonus is the 78rpm speed option which will require an additional 78 cartridge/stylus not included. I just purchased an additional head shell and 78 cartridge/stylus for easy and quick change overs. Sound is just fine for an entry level system. I have several more serious turntables as well. Hard to beat this current model for the price imo. The modern USB interface is yet another desirable feature and may be you main reason to purchase this unit.

Great mid-level Turntable
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the AT-LP120XUSB to replace a Pioneer PL-990. I use it for home listening and am very happy with the upgrade. The first thing I noticed is how substantial this is compared to the other turntables I have owned. At 17.6 lbs, it outweighs the 990 by almost 10 pounds and feels very solidly built. The feet are adjustable and have good dampening properties. The packaging is very nice, and everything is well protected. One thing to note is that some of the pieces (cover hinges, headshell, counterweight, and cue light) are in one of the Styrofoam ends that holds the turntable in the box. Setup was relatively easy, and Audio-Technica has a YouTube video that shows you exactly what to do. Basically, it's put the platter on the spindle, drop on the slipmat, install the headshell (the cartridge is already installed on the headshell), balance the tonearm, set up the anti-skate, and you're ready to go. The whole process took no more than 10 minutes, and I spent much of that time double-checking the balance of the tonearm. The direct drive system works well. The quartz-controlled speed is spot on and rock solid. There is no motor noise that I can hear, either through the sound system or mechanically. The sound quality is excellent. I have a decent, mid-range system and this fits in well. The included AT-VM95E cartridge has decent frequency response (20 - 22,000 Hz) and produces good, full sound. I'm using the turntable's built-in pre-amp and it does the job well. One thing I really like is the ability to record using USB. I'm using Windows, and it was simply a matter of plugging in the cable and starting Audacity. The turntable shows up as a source in the drop-down (for me it was already selected) so all I had to do was start playing and hit record in the software. So far I haven't come across anything I don't like. At first I wasn't sure about the fully manual operation, coming from the automatic PL-990, but it isn't really an issue. If anything, it makes the whole process of listening to records even more engaging for me. If you are looking for a good mid-range turntable that doesn't break the bank, this is definitely one to consider.

Great turntable at reasonable price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Turntable sounds very good and has appropriate adjustments for weight and anti-skate. Back to Vinyl
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With Vinyl over the last 10 years making a comeback I decided to dust off my vinyl collection of over 800 albums. This deck seemed like a good starting point and I was not disappointed. Taking out of the box and setting up was a breeze, on saying that just getting the tracking right was just a bit tricky. The phono cable was a plus, just hooked it up to my amp. The first album I played was my Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street from 1972, and it sounded great. This is a good record player for the money, as long as you don't mind having to lift the arm to the record and pull the lever down to play, which I didn't just took me back to the old days of listening to music. Loved it.

Wow, I was impressed.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was replacing an old Sony that I had had for about 35 years or more and the cartridge and wiring in the tone arm gave out. I decided this looked like a reasonable deal. It was a great deal! I don't usually do reviews, but It works excellently, with the line output going directly into my Pioneer Elite (through the DVD input), playing through my Klipsh speakers, with my CD changer going into the CD input. I had briefly listened to a cheaper brand changer (I won't mention the brand) but this Audio Technica deck is outstanding. I connected the ground wire of the supplied RCA connectors at both ends using the line output setting. No hum or other trash sounds. I also connected the USB to my laptop and downloaded the free audacity software to record my record. It sounded just great. So, it is a great manual turntable. I miss the auto return only slightly. Just follow the directions to connect it.

Almost there
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave this turntable only four stars because it comes sooo close to being all that I wanted in a new school technology. I have a LARGE collection of LPs accumulated firsthand starting with the early 1960s on up to the present time. I still have my original audiophile equipment (vintage late 1960s to mid 1970s). From experience, I wanted quality sound playback but without the space needed for all the individual components. One key component is the turntable. Ease of hookup with the built-in preamp along with tone arm controls to fine tune the cartridge for maximum playback fidelity is what I found in this AT-LP120XUSB turntable. The ONLY drawback is the cartridge. It is elliptical but is only one step above a basic beginning level cartridge. But it is suitable for the budget price of $249.95. I do plan on an upgrade that will give me the “fullest sound” this unit is capable of producing.

Great entry level advanced player
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It sounds great and easy to operate and it looks really cool with the lights it has. Spent more on LPs than what this cost. Can swap out needles for 78 records (note there a 2 needles for 78s. There are ceramic and vinyl 78s that use different width needles. Also when hooked up to your computer I had to unplug the rca jacks as it caused feedback on my pc.

I like It, But I Don't Love It.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The AT-LP120XUSB replaced the AT-LP120USB. Since I am an owner of the AT-LP120USB, I purchased this upgrade for comparison. This model is set to be a "Consumer/ Professional" turntable. Even though I have mixed feelings about this unit, I figured I'd give it a try. I was disappointed to learn that some features have been removed. For example, forward/ backward direction of the platter, the tone arm height adjustment, and the pop-up cue/ target light. This unit's weight is a tad bit lighter than the original, and a plastic 45 adapter is supplied, as opposed to an aluminum adapter. Now, let's review the positive aspects of this turntable. The first thing you notice is the "much" quieter direct drive motor. A huge plus in my book. The Anti-Skate has been improved, and so has the cartridge & stylus. An AC adapter has replaced the conventional plug. This idea behind this, is to minimized harmonic distortion. There is a plug-in cue/ target light. At first, I thought it was a bad idea. The light would eventually get misplaced. However, replacement plug-in target lights are available (Google it). Not to mention easier to replace if and when it burns out. I am slightly impressed with the improved audio. The bass appears deeper, and the highs are clearer. Naturally, this also has to do with one's speakers. I was mostly impressed that AT has finally soldiered the RCA jacks directly to the circuit board. This makes transporting the unit more convenient. There is also a ground available. Since I wasn't fond of the plastic 45 adapter, I purchased an aluminum one from amazon. Final thoughts on this unit. Without a doubt, I would recommend this to all the novices out there. You become familiar with balancing a tone arm, setting the anti-skate, adjusting the pitch control, and the most challenging, aligning the cartridge/ stylus.

Sounds great!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 30 plus year old Technics turntable went out on me right before they started shutting everything down. It appears that the motor burnt out in it. I packed it up and hope to get it fixed one day. Until then, I decided to invest in this new one from Audio-Technica. Luckily, I was able to pick this one up from Best Buy using their curb side option...which went very smoothly. My old one was rather simple compared to this and setting this up was a bit of a challenge for someone who hasn't had to mess with something different in a long time. It took a few times and a couple of online videos to get the balance of the arm right...and setting the Anti-Skating mechanism correctly. Using the recommended settings in the instructions didn't work as well for me. After fiddling around with various settings, I was able to get it to sound pretty good for me. I have to admit that it does sound a lot better than my old one. When compared to my old LP player, I do miss the fact that the tone arm would lift and retract by itself when it gets to the end of the record. This new one, everything has to be done by you. Overall, I am pleased with it. I haven't played around with the ability to covert vinyls into mp3s yet. I do like that it has that capability and will eventually get around to tinkering with that function.

Has everything that a vinyl lover needs.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at several models/manufacturers, but for the features and price , it seemed right. The build in pre amp, makes it even better. Had used the recording out through USB, and sounded great. ! The $300 unit had the reverse playing which I didn't need. More for DJs. Would recommend.

Works Like A Charm
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was daunting setting it up because a poor set up could lead to scratched records and poor sound but all the actual hard parts were made easy by AT! I’m new to vinyl and found the set up pretty straightforward! This is a steal for the price! Look no further, get this turntable!

Great looking and great working piece of audio.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Combined this turntable with a Sony 5.2 channel receiver, Sony speakers and Sony subwoofer. Operation is simple. Best Buy's set up video was very useful. The light that shines on the record while playing is a nice touch.

Audio-Technica - Stereo Turntable - Black
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first TT in decades. My first one I had to put together and setup. I wanted to get it right the first time, so I followed a YouTube video and everything was perfect! You need to learn how to level and calibrate the tone arm and set the proper tracking force, and anti-skate. Music on vinyl is so much better than CD or anything digital. So warm and expansive. You will hear things you never heard in digital form. With digital, everything sounds compressed and piled on. With analog, you hear individual acoustics in a much wider spectrum. This is a very nice TT. Mine performs perfectly. The housing is plastic, but looks great. The included styli and cartridge is great to my ears, but I will be upgrading to an Ortofon 2M Blue or really save up for the Bronze. They are pricey, but sound 5 to 10 better from reviews. I can’t wait!

My first record player -- I'm in love
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first time owning my own record player, though I've played with dozens of them between friends and family who have been big collectors. It was an uphill battle to figure out some of the technical aspects of this turntable: speakers, wires, a lot of "what does this button do!?" But, this is the right product for that kind of exploration. To top it off, it's easily the most beautiful piece of audio equipment I've ever owned. I'm extremely happy with this product and would highly recommend others consider it for their first (and last) record player.

Very classic look
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this turn table for its ability, for old style phono hookup, 78 rpm and has a switch for phono or line hookup (USB). Its handsome look, sound is real good and very quite. When ready, will buy a better cartridge or Stylus, cartridge in there now is very good, so no need to run out and up date. Only draw back not fully automatic, need to que at end of album, yes does have a lift arm for dropping down on vinyl and lifting off, there is a led light that shines on vinyl for dropping stylus on precise in between songs track.
