Not bad for what it is

It’s ok but way overpriced for what it is, it don’t last long but then again what does now a days, my other one’s lasted about 6 months. The product could use some improvements for $30 bucks or have a lifetime warranty.
The wire inside is super small not sure what gauge wire but looks to like 24 gauge the Belkin company needs to put a bigger gauge so the copper wire don’t break at solder point or the wire from breaking.

I have purchased at least 2 of the Belkin 3.5 headphones jack and lightning charger and neither lasted more than 6-8 months before fraying. Tried to use 1 year warranty but manufacture didn’t honor nor did Best Buy. Manufacturer online service never resolved issue, give me the runaround and Best Buy made no attempt to backup a product sild in their store. I had receipt and original packaging, neither helped. I would not purchase this Belkin product again!

Horrible adaptor

I bought this adaptor because I need to use my headphone and charge at the same time. I have bought the cheaper adaptors and they didn’t work after 1 week or 1 use. This one worked for about 2 months. Now if I move my phone the tiniest bit the sound goes out. It’s horrible. I use a $300 pair of headphones and the noise it makes when audio and charge goes out is annoying. I was going to buy another pair but I am not since I have read the other reviews.
The Belkin 3.5 mm Audio + Charge RockStar is designed to work longer than described. You can try to use the adapter on a different iPhone or iOS device for isolation. But, allow us to assist you further, please reach out to us at [email protected], and share more details with the link to this review for our reference.

Great fix for Apple’s mistake

When Apple removed the headphone jack on the iPhone, you now have to choose between charging or using their adapter for your headphones. (Ok, old school I know) This adapter from Belkin solved this problem for me. On a long road trip I like to listen to my music (iTunes or streaming) and would connect my iPhone 5S to the stereo in my truck. (Again, old school, it doesn’t have Bluetooth) When I upgraded to the iPhone 7S, low and behold, no audio jack! After checking online, and reading many reviews, I picked this adapter. I haven’t been disappointed. It workes great. Yes, it adds a couple of inches to the connection to the iPhone, but that wasn’t a problem for my setup. The audio is clear and I can still make and receive calls hands free, same as before. Some commented that it comes loose from the iPhone lightining socket. I haven’t had that happen. The lightining connector clicks into place and held firm on a 1000 mile road trip. There are cheaper adapters on line, but this is Apple certified so that was a big plus for me. Overall, I am very pleased with this solution to Apple’s mistake.
Better than the apple counterpart, decent quality.

I use these to connect apple phones to audio equipment while also keeping them charged. They work much better than the Apple branded version. They are small, so I tend to lose them before they ever wear out. But I'm happy with the audio quality and the DAC that is built into this small device. There are certainly better DAC (Digital Audio Converters) out there for much more money, but this seems to be the best bang for your buck.

Perfect for listening to headphones or using an aux cable in an older vehicle, while still maintaining a charge. The trouble I've always had is charging while using the lighting adapter to put music or GPS directions through the stereo of my old work vehicle. This solves that perfectly. Knowing that Best Buy can only sell apple products that are certified by Apple themselves gives me peace of mind and they have a liberal return policy if it's not what I need. Couldn't be happier.

Works as you expect and lets you use regular headphones while still being able to charge your phone...great for the car when you want to connect to your aux. It is a shame Apple continues to force proprietary ports or apple-specific headphones, resulting in additional cost to users through buying new headphones or additional adapters, but this is a good product in its own right.

I had to buy a new iPhone (8+), since iPhone 6 was no longer working right. With Apple removing the audio jack (which was not a good decision, imo), i had to find a way to listen to music in my car or at home, on a stereo that does not have bluetooth or any other way to listen to music but the audio input. I do lot's of long trips and needed to make sure i can listen a music, watch videos and also use GPS, all from one iPhone. The little adapter iPhone had in the box was OK until my battery died while using GPS and i had no way to recover, until i stopped to charge the phone. So, i needed something that would allow me to play audio, while charging the phone. First - i purchased cheap adapters from Amazon. Went through 5 different sellers. All of those adapters worked for few weeks and then break. Not reliable. This one seem to stay healthy for a months already. Belkin is a great company and their products are made with quality. I do appreciate that.
One thing that still bothers me is the buzzing noise i hear every time i plug the charging cable to it, while listening music. But, comparing to Amazon cheap stuff - it is not so bad. Not a deal breaker for me but, i wish the product was tested on different variations of audio + charging to notice and eliminate the buzzing noise. It would then be perfect adapter.
I still give it 5 stars and would recommend to a friend, since overall quality is good. I also want to see if it will work longer than just a few months. So far so good. Thanks!

My nephew told me about these iPhone lightning cable/3.5 auxiliary cable splitters on a recent trip to visit family out-of-state as I voiced frustration about not being able to charge my newer model iPhone & listen to my favorite streaming music at the same time…I did a lot of research and decided this Belkin model was the best option for the job…the Best Buy Associate brought me straight to it (last one available) and confirmed that it was better than any of the other brands. I could not be happier about this purchase and bought a second one for my son at our local Best Buy as soon as I returned from my trip!

Like most everyone else I was irritated with the headphone jack shake up that apple threw at us. This adapter now allows me to use an AUX cord in my vehicle and charge at the same time. Same thing when you want to use headphones. I have a couple of these that I use almost daily. They still haven’t started that classic apple phone charger tear yet. Only draw back in some situations is the size but I’ll take it.

Bought two different generic versions of this - one made a loud popping noise every 30 seconds. The other one made a hiss and sizzle sound that you could hear if there was a break in the music. The generic ones also aren't detected by the phone as having headphones plugged in, so the volume sensitivity and output doesn't adjust. That means the lowest volume level is very loud and the adjustments aren't very fine. So much for saving money!
Finally bought this one instead, and it's like night and day. The sound is clear and there is no background hiss. The phone detects that you're using headphones like it should. I only use it about once a day and I'm not active when I do, so I can't comment yet on its longevity or durability. It's a bit larger than the generic options, so it's a tad bulky to use in any situation where you might be moving - sharp corners would easily snag on things. Otherwise, only downside is the price. I get it - it clearly is superior to the generic versions. But, does it have something so magic inside that little case that makes it 4x their price?

Got old headphones from 2008 lying around? Did your dog eat your AirPods? This let's you (or your 8-year-old) use old school 3.5 mm headphones with your I-nation product and charge it simultaneously (or not if your device doesn't need charging). Great gizmo. Would buy again.
Thank you so much for the fantastic review of the Belkin Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Cable + Audio Charger Splitter. We love hearing that our products are a great solution for real-life situations—whether it's giving new life to old headphones or saving the day after a dog-related incident!

Well worth it and super easy to use! Makes life so much easier! Allows charging and music auxiliary chord to be plugged into your iPhone at the same time since they got rid of the aux hole.

The only adapter of this kind that works consistently for me. Every other brand I bought either doesn’t work in the way I expected, or it’s completely malfunctioned and worthless. I will say that this frays pretty easily, but I also use it pretty heavily. I wish the joints were a bit stronger, considering the price. Unfortunately I keep losing this adapter so I now have to buy another one..
We’re glad to hear the Belkin F8J212 has been the most reliable option for you compared to other brands. We appreciate your honest feedback about the fraying and joint strength — it helps us improve. Terrific device for your new mobile gear which no longer has a headphone port. Comes in either usb-c or lightening input, sold separately; so check the box to make sure you have the right interface. This allows you to listen to your music or video or zoom call and charge at the same time.
That's a fantastic summary! We're thrilled to hear you find the Belkin Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Cable + Audio Charger Splitter such a terrific and essential accessory for mobile devices without a headphone port.

I wish this were a bit less expensive since and I’d buy one for each of my kids. It works as expected and yes has a bit of bulk but to do what I need, it’s reasonable in size. Wish I’d have bought it sooner.

I have enjoyed this converter, as I have some beats that have an aux cable ending. It’s a nifty little thing that can charge your phone while playing music, I just wish it wasn’t so bulky.

I have an iPhone X and an older car I drive doesn't have Bluetooth and I wanted to charge and play music at same time using the audio jack. It does what's advertised and solved my problem.

The headphone jack is fantastic and delivers quality audio. The two issues I have with this are the cord and the size. The block that houses the female lightning port and headphone jack is larger than you want it to be, but probably the size it needs to be in order to work with the phone without issue. It just acts as an odd mass dangling below the phone when you use the adapter. The other issue is just how stiff that short cord is. It's thick enough that you don't feel like it should be bent or that it would break in fatigue quickly. This works just as described (and yes, you can use it with the inline mic and volume controls) but at the cost of the dongle being awkward.
