This radar detector is mediocre at best. I owned a cheaper one for years & feel that one does a better job! Pretty annoying at every stop light this thing is beeping away, even in city mode!

I like this detector with one exception, seems to pick up a lot of false signals.

Purchased the unit and tried it for approximately 3 weeks. This was my 3rd Beltronics radar detector and i had been pleased with the others, but this one did not work. I returned it and exchanged it for a Passport that seems to be doing a very good job. I hope that the Bel was just defective and not indicative of all the units.

    Great Unit

This is a great radar detector that is fast and has few if any false alarms. Couple that with the smart phone app Escort Live and you have great weapon against LEO's raiding your wallet for your hard earned $$$. My only complaint is the mounting bracket. For as long as Escort and Beltronics have been building radar detectors you would think one of their engineers would finally admit that their mounting bracket is a piece of dung. On our first 250 mile trip the V-10 pinpointed 3 separate radar traps that I would have never seen. Additionally, the Escort Live iPhone app gave us updates on two troopers who were working the interstate ahead of us... The most useful iPhone app I have purchased in years!!! Get the larger mounting device.. extra bucks but worth it!!

Not very good we returned it. We bought this for my stepdad 16 birthday and he didn't understand how to use it. We gave him our passport radar detector and he loved it and it was easy to understand

    Good Range, Less False Alerts.

Had the V6 and took it back because the false alarms drove me nuts. I have the V10 in Autoscan mode with X Band turned off. What a difference. The Range seems to be a lot better. The shape of the rear lens is in a radius, I assume to improve off axis performance. So far, so good. Beltronics is owned by Escort and manufactured in the same Escort factory. Had a Escort 8500 X50 a long time ago and loved it.

Product is very user friendly and extremely accurate. It has by far out done my expectations. The only negative factor is that it is not cordless.

    Very good detector...

I went back and forth between the Passport 9500ix and the Betronics v10 (which seems to be the same specs as Beltronics 995) and I could not justify spending the $249 more to go with a gps enabled radar detector. But this one (basically made by Passport) is compatible with the passport Shifter ZR4 for laser jamming and that was high on my upgrade list in a detector. So as I plan my upgrade path for this detector I have been using it with the auto scan settings set to scan all bands while I learn my area.. the typical who uses what. So for that reason I left the X band on. While I was driving along I10 downtown Houston I picked up a signal (Xa) and didn't see any police scanning radar. Well I decided to verify I was driving the speed limit and I approached a hill and there he was …. Shooting radar. His system was the installed type in his car and not the radar gun. So I was pleased to see the performance of this detector and will move forward with the laser jamming system soon. the distance was close to 1 mile (up hill side) from when the radar went off which again I found to be great since he was on the downhill side of the hill So in my opinion this was a huge bang for the buck. Just my opinion

    DO NOT BUY!

I would give 0 stars if possible. Horrible product. $249.99 before taxes. First day, got aka alert 1 second after I saw the TN State trooper. Then in Alabama, drove right past a cop on side of road (clearly getting speeders) and made NO noise. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I am not even waiting until tomorrow. I'm returning NOW! These other reviews are either entirely fake, paid, or something else because this radar detector SUCKS!

    Escort vs Beltronics

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Some reviews here trash Escort and some trash Beltronics, funny because they are both the same company ! The internals are made by the same tech's lol Look at the various models and similarities. If that doesnt convince you go to the two websites they are both on West Chester Road , one at 5440 and the other at 5442. So do some research before you trash a model or company they both work the same and have the same spec's .

I recently purchased this radar detector, and the only things it picks up are electrical sliding doors. I passed three speed traps where police were using radars, and not a beep.

Bought this radar detector thinking for $249 there must be something decent. Not really. Tested it in 4 trips and here are my real results. Tested it on: a minivan and a Mustang. Same poor results. Design - OK ( looks good) wow... OK. Until the sun came out and I wished the V10 logo was black not chrome. I had to remove it because it was blinding me. Ease of setup (going through the settings) - ehh... not that easy, you have to press 2 buttons at the same time to do this and that... I did not like it; Actual detection ... poor out of 6 visual contacts with the the police cars this detector gave ZERO alerts. ZERO. Plenty of false alerts under the bridge (same bridge - drove under it 10 times at different hours-same alerts). I bought a passport x50, see review. I will touch on same points for comparison.
