"This is one of the best 4K projector currently in market for the price. I had been doing a lot of research to buy a 4K projector and this one has all the features and best picture quality. You don't have to spend more the 2000 to get a decent 4K projector. I am enjoying it a lot !!!!!!
Adding to this the size is very portable and stylish. I am pretty sure you will not be disappointed. "

4k in all its glory for a 1080p projector price

For anyone looking to see 4k HDR in its best light, a 55 inch or even 70 inch TV is just for starters. IMO Projection is the ideal way to truly see the full benefit of 4k resolution. We are talking a 100 inch or higher screen (mine is 120). Add HDR into the mix and things are looking even better!
WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT:
1. Easy setup - mine is ceiling mounted. Projector is not too heavy or big which is a plus.
2. Menus and settings generally easy to navigate, and does not require much if any settings changes for most non-picky viewers. Or you can tweak away - there are a great many options available.
3. The detail this projector puts out is INCREDIBLE. Every source is upscaled to 4k. Watching an HD stream of the new 'Murder on the Orient Express' from VUDU absolutely blew me away. Looked better than I had seen physical Bluray look on my old 1080p projector (Optoma HD 141x). So every movie you already have will benefit from this projector - not just new 4k material. And native 4k material? Just amazing to view. Cannot recommend enough, similar from going from SD to HD (but only on a 100+ inch screen - you won't see as much of an upgrade on a 55 inch 4k TV).
4. For Standard Dynamic Range (SDR, aka Bluray and lower) the colors are noticeably far superior than my 141x. I have watched a few HDR films and that is the icing on the cake - already rich colors and details become more rich with HDR enabled sources on this projector.
5. It auto switches between HDR and SDR sources without issue.
6. I noticed it has less of the DLP rainbow effect than my old projector. Actually I haven't noticed any effect yet, whereas it was very minor on the 141x.
7. A rare 4k DLP Projector that supports 3D in 1080p (there is no 4k 3D yet). I have a collection of 3D Blurays and so 3D was a necessity. (note: instead of listing as a negative, I will mention here as Benq has admitted to a flaw in the early shipped units with the 3D image. I have verified this flaw on my unit. They are making good on this, and 'hot swapping' out units with a fix. All new units ordered should not have this flaw but beware if you buy used...)
THE NOT SO GOOD:
1. If you are very sensitive to fan noise, and require absolute silence, this may not be the projector for you. I would say the fan sound on this is 'average'. It may be slightly louder than my old 141x. Rumor has it new shipping units from March 2018 forward may be more quiet than the original units (which I have).
3. If you must have the blackest blacks and top of the line contrast ratios, this may not be the projector for you. Don't get me wrong, the blacks can appear very solid. But there are projectors with deeper blacks. This is an issue with the DLP chip used and a choice by the manufacturer to provide a greater color range. So some contrast was sacrificed for better color.
4. The DLP chip in this unit has a border of pixels on the outside of the image area that, for some, may be a deal breaker. Depending on your screen size and type it can be a few inches wide (4 or so) on each side. This border is not pitch black, and looks like the same black matting on-screen when watching films with a 2.40x1 ratio like the Star Wars films. For me, it was not noticeable at all, and for most, if I never mentioned, you never would have noticed it. But if you are super picky in this area (and you know who you are), you will need to go with a much more expensive 4k projector as all units with this DLP chip will have this same issue. Again, it did not bother me one bit, and I would consider myself 'semi-picky'. Wife does not notice it.
5. There is a noticeable delay when auto-switching between SDR and HDR sources. I have heard that the 3D fixed version may have made this delay less, but not confirmed.
6. Although not an issue directly with the projector, more of an issue with the 4k, HDR, and HDCP 2.2 standards. If you are making a long cable run (mine is 50 ft) you will most likely need a HDMI cable upgrade. To get full HDR I needed to buy an OPTICAL HDMI cable - google them. Damage for a 50 ft run is usually around $150. Especially recommended if you are running through walls. Also ensure your received can handle HDCP 2.2 and pass HDR if you are going through one or you will not get the full benefit or any picture at all. I recommend an Onkyo TX-NR676 which has two outputs and full support for this projector.
7. Supports only HDR10 and not Dolby Vision or HDR+. But I am not aware of any home projector that supports those HDR modes at this time. But I am sure in the future they will become an available feature.
But all in all, if you are an enthusiast of home theater, you will have a great time with this projector - it truly brings a next generation experience to the masses, without abandoning fan favorite 3D.

The projector was a snap to set up, and the picture is perfect. My only issue is when the input switches from hi-def to 4K the projector goes blank for about 10 seconds while it thinks about it. I'm using a fiber optic HDMI cable for a longer run from the receiver.

This is my first projector so I cannot really compare to other models, but I am very pleased with the clarity, crisp colors this projector puts out. I mounted my projector to the ceiling about 12 ft. Away from the screen which is what I needed to fill the 120" screen. I'm very impressed with the clarity this projector puts out. My room definitely feels like a movie room at an affordable price. Great buy!!!

Not a bad buy but I don’t think it’s native 4k. It’s faux-K. But I didn’t think it was noticeable. Would still have kept if it didn’t die on me. Half the screen went blank. And wouldn’t come back on anymore. Def buy the warranty with projectors. Also includes a bulb replacement!

Best 4K 3D Projector for the Price

The BenQ HT2550 is the first of many 4K projectors with XPR technology launching this year. I'm upgrading from a 1080p BenQ W1070, and the upgrade in picture quality, brightness, and sharpness is definitely worth the price premium.
PROS:
- Price!
- Color accuracy
- HDR
- 3D Capabilities
- Small form factor
CONS:
- Lack of lens shift

The projector had vertical lines on half of the screen as soon as I fired up the projector. I tried calling Benq multiple days but could not get through. Returned the projector and purchased the Optoma UHD50.
It’s a shame because I had been using a Benq W1200 for the last 8 years with no issues.

What a difference 4K makes

I have this projector set up in my living room on a 125" screen, and it looks amazing. My family and I watched Planet Earth 2 on UHD last night, and it was spectacular. Out of the box the colors look great and the brightness is not an issue.
I am still continuing to collect 3d blurays, and BenQ has fixed the issue with the 3d on this projector with the most recent firmware update. 3d looks great, and I love having the option of watching 3d on a 4K projector.

I haven't thrown it against my white screen yet, just a beige wall. Looks pretty good, but I put my screen together this morning and will stop to get a UHD movie to watch on my oppo blu ray player. I'm expecting magic! Will come back for an update...
