If you have any existing outdoor light fixture either equipped with an existing spotlight or another form of light than this will be a simple install. If you need to have electric box installed, I recommend you hire an electrician if you’re not used to installing wiring etc.
I simply love the Blink system. I have a preexisting blink system; however, it’s not required to have a system in order to use this light. This can be your first purchase with the Blink system, and it will work with no other components. I personally use this with my two doorbell cams, an indoor cam, and now the Blink outdoor flood light. I also have the Blink Module which allows you to avoid the monthly subscription and use your own flash drive to store your video recording all with access from any smart phone and anywhere you are. You do not need to be on the same Wi-Fi system to see what’s being recorded on blink or to check a camera on live.
The Blink floodlight was such an easy install. I removed my old light fixture, installed the new and included bracket, used the included s hook to hold up my fixture close to the electric box, wired her in with the existing wires in the box and screwed her in. The flight is secure and has a foam like gasket to help protect the elements getting in between the electric box and the light housing.
I was able to add the Blink Flood light right through my app. It took minutes and I was live and watching from above my garage. The lights are sold and bright. I wish the camera was pan and tilt but once you set it manually (to where you want it pointed) it has a great wide angled lens. I can see so much from up top of my garage. I have noticed all my blink cameras have almost like a fish lens. Each camera provides a strong viewing angle. The light is bright with 2,600 lumens, have I seen brighter? Yes, but this is bright enough and illuminates a large area around my garage. The lights can move in any direction or angle, so I have them spread in a wide pattern to illuminate the surrounding area to help me at night and provide some light security at night with a motion alert.
What makes this Blink camera stronger than my others is the new features provided by Blink. However, it should be noted that if you solely use the module and do not pay for the subscription plan you will not have access to all these features which I will explain. This camera has motion detection which you can allow it to automatically sound off a loud alarm if you choose. You also have two-way audio which are included with all Blink cameras. However, to use the new Person Detection feature you will need a subscription plan. This new feature works differently than the motion detection as it will only activate an alert if it recognizes a person rather than a motion from a car or from another type of moving object. Finally, this has night view in color, while not spectacular like viewing something in daylight it will help one in identifying colors in the evening if there were a need.
I really don’t have any issues with this camera. The light is bright, camera is crystal clear, the audio is sharp, the availability to use a subscription service or module for free service is awesome, and the spotlight looks modern and great on the outside of my garage. I also love how it is packed in small package (with a little bit of weight) so that it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. It blends into its surroundings.

Install is very straight forward. Lights are bright. I wish the camera had a bit more angle mobility and that the sensor radius was larger. Still is quality i expect from blink. Has alot of ajustability to the camera settings through the app, More than i do for my battery operated cameras.
Clear video. Need to sub to record. No local save.

Pro:
-Clear video
-App is easy to use
-Bright lights
Con:
-No local storage without additional Sync Module
-No free option
-Can’t replace lights
-No zoning
Set up
Installation was straightforward. If you have installed a light before, then it shouldn’t be a problem. It comes with various size screws depending on what type of electrical box you have. It also comes with a hook to hang the light as you connect the wires, which makes it much easier to install. The wifi setup took a few tries as it didn’t connect and I had to delete the camera and run the setup again. Saving settings will sometimes get an error as well.
The fixture is compact and light. The lights are bright at 100%. They are not replaceable. Even though LED have a long life, they can burn out early and you will need to replace the entire fixture. There’s no controls on the fixture itself and everything is controlled through the app.
Video and audio
The camera is clear during daylight, and the night vision is good. The sound is pretty garbled and compressed. The motion detection is quick to detect and record, usually within 1-2 seconds. Live view is quick to load, again within a few seconds.
App
The app is intuitive to use. The UI is easy to navigate and settings are easy to find. Upon starting, you can get into live view right away, or turn on/off the lights, motion detection, or snooze the alerts.. You can adjust the motion settings, video and audio quality, and light settings per device. It’s missing the zoning feature so you can’t block out areas of detection.
Subscription
Without a subscription, the camera only works as a live viewing and detection alert. There’s no free option for saving videos. There’s no local storage option unless you buy an additional Sync Module. The plan either cost $3/month or $30/year for one device or $10/month or $100/year for unlimited devices. The videos will be saved for 60 days.
Overall it’s good. The video quality is good, but the audio is not that great. It’s quick to record and the motion detection is good. It could use a zoning feature to block out busy streets. The app is easy to use and is quick to load live video. The biggest negative is that if the lights goes out, you’ll need to replace the entire fixture. The subscription price is reasonable, but it would be nice to have at least a free 24 hour option or built in local storage.

Easy install, everything was included. Resolution great for the application. Blink app to Alexa, constant buffering with a high-speed network needs work, the reason for only four stars. Seems to be a known problem in the tech world.
