    Set-up Issues - Did not work right out of the box

    I was very excited to purchase this new updated Bose Radio. We've had an older Bose Radio/CD for many years and it has been an excellent product -- which we will still use. However, this is a more complicated set-up but similar to other products like webcams or smart plugs. You download the SoundTouch app, connect to your wifi, download the software, install it, and off you go. In reading the reviews before I purchased, people did not report any set-up issues -- however after following all the directions multiple times the Radio would always got stuck on a message -- Update Required. After about an hour trying to get it work, I called technical support: 20 minute wait to get a technician, 1 hour phone call with him remoting into my MAC, reinstalling everything, etc. No joy. He couldn't get the download to work and the Radio just sat there like a brick. The only way to turn it on or off was to unplug it. Their solution was to send the unit in for repair. Bose could not guarantee a fix, what the problem was, when the fix would be done, and if the fix would be permanent. At this point, it just was easier to take the whole unit back to Best Buy, return it, and order another identical unit. The return people at Best Buy were extremely helpful. They did offer a repair offer, but hey, this should work right out of the box -- and I want to know when I will get my Radio back -- and that there's nothing wrong with the unit. Hopefully when I get the new unit, the install will work correctly. It might have been just a real simple issue, but it was a showstopper. BTW, the Bose technician was very good. They are located in the Philippines but their service (and English) was quite good. I was extremely disappointed when this unit did not work right out of the box, but I'm confident in the quality of Bose products.

    My wife wanted something with good sound for playing her CD collection. I figured if we were going to invest the $ let's get a good solution. The Bose provides super sound that is hard to beat. The fact that much of the functionality is only controllable via the remote or an app is a bit annoying. My wife uses the remote, I wanted to use the app. Wife is happy. I am frustrated. When I launch the app, more often than not it can't find the speaker even tho my router shows it is connected to the network and I end up going through the setup again. I realize that sometimes the problem is because I have both 2.4 and 5 GHZ wireless networks in the house and if the speaker is on one and my phone on another they don't interact. It is just frustrating especially considering the cost of the unit. You can't beat the sound. My wife is happy. Without the app/network issues I can't use all of the features. In hindsight I would have been happier with the non-wifi model. It's great when it works and the sound is super.

    I love the SoundTouch interface. I don’t think Bose does a good enough job marketing the SoundTouch system. These devices have built in WiFi trancievers and firmware to work directly with many online music services on their own, without being connected to anything via Bluetooth, although you can stream to them directly via Bluetooth if you want to. And if you have multiple SoundTouch devices, they can all play the same music throughout your whole house. You can even tell Amazon’s Alexa to do this for you. I own a bunch of the devices including the ST30, ST20, ST10 and ST300. They all sound great. I expected the Wave SoundTouch to sound at least as good as the ST20 and hoped it would sound as good as the ST30. It sounds (to me) no better than the $200 ST10, which is good but not strikingly good (ST20), or remarkably good (ST30). Difficult to justify the price. I probably should have returned it for another ST30.

    no bluetooth transmitter

    The Bose Sound Wave IV only comes with a bluetooth receiver and no transmitter. That means if you own Bose bluetooth headphones you can't use them with the Wave IV without WiFi or spending $20 on a transmitter that plugs into the earphone jack. This may seem minor to most, but it does seem that a company that sells both could at least make them work together when it would be such a small addition cost. The sound is get and this is the third Bose radio I've purchased, so I would recommend it.

In order to use Bluetooth headphones with the system, you would need a transmitter than can connect to a 3.5mm output. Doing so will mute the Wave system.     Sounds good but even my IT company couldn't get it connected to our network! Its 2018 and electronics cannot communicate with each other easily? Seriously this is a terrible experience for something that should be so simple!

    Pretty much what the title says. The touch on off thing really is completely pointless in my opinion since you still have to touch the top...who cares if you are touching a button or the top of the unit. Sound quality was okay but the treble seemed like it needed an adjustment.

    I bought Bose because of the quality. It’s sounds good but lacks something. Bought an LG system for the garage and it sounds just as good for a third the price. Not having any control of base doesn’t help. Overall disappointed.

    The reviews convinced me to purchase this but I promptly returned it. Wow, was this over rated. The set up was horrendous. It kept reverting to the factory reset. The sound wasn't impressive as the reviews stated. Sad.

    I love Bose, but this thing really let me down. The sound is lacking and the fact you NEED the remote sucks. I also keep dropping the connection between the app on my phone and Stereo. also the setup SUCKS.....
