Pros: awesome. Heats quick, works quick. Cooks things perfectly, nice crisp on the outside but soft on the inside-it’s insane. It also looks aesthetic and is the perfect size! It toasts bread and other things exceptionally as well. I can put a small Pyrex baking dish in it too and it bakes just as good as an oven! Cons: you have to flip the bread in order for it to toast perfectly. The trays are heavy. Doesn’t come with a pizza stone. Overall, great toaster oven. Better than the one we had before but we have only had it for a month or so.

I am very happy with the Breville smart toaster oven BOV650XL. Exellent quality. It is very accurate, bakes even and the alerts are quiet. Love everything about it!

I bought the Breville Compact Smart Toaster Oven after doing a lot of research online. It replaced my workhorse toaster oven that was over 40 years old but had seen better days. The Breville Compact Smart Toaster Oven is the best addition to my kitchen that I’ve made in recent years. It has a number of “bells and whistles” but it is easy to figure out (excellent directions), to operate, and the results are wonderful. I am particularly fond of the preheating ability - something I never thought about until I began researching for a new toaster oven. So far all of the pre-programmed dial selections (Bagel, Toast, etc.) have been perfect for my needs. Adjusting times and temperatures is something I have not needed to do so far, but I’ve experimented with how it works and it is very logical and easy to do. It is attractive in design, nicely compact but still has plenty of room, and it does not take up a lot of counter space. I had never heard of the Breville brand until I began looking for a new toaster oven, but I am convinced that it is very high quality, competitively priced given the number of extra features, and is worth every cent. I could not be more pleased with this purchase - it's a first-rate toaster oven.

This toaster oven fulfills all of my needs: cooks and toasts efficiently; is well made; sold at a fair price; fits on my counter top. I am satisfied with this machine. The only drawback is that the outside gets very warm when the oven is on. But this is common of most toaster ovens, I am told. Just keep your hands away from the unit when it is on.

I am really happy with this new toaster oven. I read Consumer Reports which rated it highly. Decided in the middle sized version of the oven and am glad that I picked it. It was only slightly larger than the mini version - so from a counter space point of view its size wasn't going to make that much of a different. What the larger size did give me was enough room to hold some of my medium sized baking pans. I baked a casserole and a frittata and both came out perfectly - baked evenly and better than my oven. I baked a frozen store pizza on the bake setting and it came out perfectly. I didn't use the pizza setting because that has a defrost step and the frozen pizza instructions did not require that. I have toasted a bunch of toast and it does brown a little bit more on the top than on the bottom. But it is so much better than my old toaster oven. I found the preset selections for darkness that I am happy with. Using the same setting, I am getting very consistent results. I am very happy with this purchase and have already recommended it to a family member and a friend.

I was so done with my last toaster oven and as I started out my adventure into getting a new one I decided for my needs I wanted something that can do some oven work without having to get a convection oven. So I did a lot of research and came across this one and it had 5 star review and it was pricey for a 'toaster oven' but I had a gift card and got it with a good discount. WOW! WOW! That's all I have to say. This thing cooks everything, perfectly and I am a trained chef that cooked with one of those wood fire ovens that was built in Italy and shipped on a boat and would get up to 700 degrees to make the perfect pizza's and anything else. Well this thing practically replaces my oven. I bake breads from scratch, cookies, steaks, make simple toast and frozen pizza comes out better than the gas oven I have plus it doesn't get hot like a big oven but does big oven work for 1-2 people. So if you're looking for a replacement for a regular oven this is it until you have more than 2 people to bake/broil for this will do everything and simple to clean on top of it all. This is worth the full price too. My mom came over and loved it so much she bought one the day after she got back home. We still talk about that oven and how it changed out lives LOL

We've used our Breville compact smart oven/toaster for nearly 3 months. Our overall impression is very good and we would recommend this product. We like several features including the controls. For example, it's simple to switch among the unit's many modes such as broiling, toasting, and oven. Furthermore, a second dial facilitates quick alteration of darkness/lightness while toasting as well as the number of slices of toast. Altering this latter control changes the time and can turn off and on the heating elements for more balanced toasting. A visible countdown timer shows in the display during toasting allowing you to coordinate hot toast with hot fried or scrambled eggs. The upper surfaces of toast is cooked uniformly; while toasting on undersides is less uniform due to influences from the wire shelf. The wire shelf has three positions and glides smoothly. One thing we don't like is that the wire shelf does not pull out automatically when the door is opened (our previous unit did so). We keep a fork next to the unit to use to pull the wire shelf out so extract toast -- reaching into the oven without pulling out the shelf is dangerous given the limited space and ease of touching a hot surfaces. We do not like that the wire shelf lacks a stop -- that is, it is easy to pull the shelf out too far and end up with your toast on the floor (I've done it). The included cooking pan and tray are high quality. We've been pleased with these accessories while broiling. We've been pleased with our purchase and would recommend this product.

I own the older model of this same Breville and purchased this updated model for my mom. Simple to use. Auto-shut off is a great and important safety feature. Nice for size. Recommended to my mom's friend as well. This is used more than our oven, sometimes multiple times daily. It heats up quickly. We use ours for mini-pizzas, toast/bagels/baguettes, egg rolls, french fries, meatballs, reheating pizza slices, small batches of cookies.....so many things. Make sure you keep things away from the unit to prevent fire hazard...including the cords (it melted the housing on the surge strip cord). Do not enclose in a a cabinet when hot. I have to remind my mom not to put things on top or next to it frequently. Breville needs to create a built-in version so these can stop taking up counterspace. I am a Kitchen designer and everyone loves their toaster oven, but I don't always have a Butler's Pantry to hide one in. No wall oven heats up this quickly or is this efficient.

This oven was purchased as a gift for a 90+ year old. Just learning to prepare his own meals after losing his wife, he was nervous about using it. He now cooks full meals using all the controls and options. The internet is his recipe book . Breville oven lets him toast, broil and bake. So proud pf my dad. Maintaining his independence. This oven was easy to use right out of the box. It toasts and broils evenly. I love the compact style. It's attractive and fits easily on the counter. It blends in well with our other counter top appliances. Wish I'd bought one a long time ago!

Needed a new toaster oven and had been looking for awhile. While you would think you could get one for under $75. almost all in that price range are flimsy, cheap construction and build more like a child's toy oven. Whiling to bit the bullet and spend a higher price read the reviews on this line and they were all positive. Saw the unit in the store and it was built solid, easy to understand and use controls and looks great so got it. Have only used it since Christmas however very happy with it and no complaints. Even get comments from guest when they see it on the counter as to how nice it looks. Its a keeper.

I just bought this toaster oven so can not speak to durability. However this is very easy to operate and clean with built in crumb tray. It looks great and is not large (perfect for small to medium kitchens). The toast function works great with toast, bagels, waffles, muffins, and even reheating pizza quickly. And unlike my ovens, this unit does not increase the room temperature. Like other high wattage toaster ovens, the exterior including the door (not handle) gets very hot. Also note, you need to use potholders to pull out the rack. Overall Its a great little oven.

Bought the Breville model BOV650XL/B based on reviews. I did something really dumb though. I unpacked it. Followed all the instructions to prepare to use it. Got 2 slices of bread out and proceeded toast them which it did very nicely. Then I went to adjust the dial to bake fish and the setting seemed to be stuck on toast. I called tech support and it was determined my unit was defective. Breville sent me a new one with a return label for the old one. So I unpacked the 2nd unit following the instructions and again it appeared that the dial would not switch to any other setting than toast. Now I am thinking it is too much of a coincidence that two units are defective so I called tech support again. This time they suggested I remove a sticker over the screen that illuminates when the unit is on and sure enough, I felt like a complete idiot for not realizing there was a sticker there to protect the screen. It is so realistic looking I didn't even realize it was a sticker at all. Lol!! The very nice lady at tech support said she gets this call often. Perhaps Breville could include this instruction in preparing to use for the first time and/or include it in the trouble shooting chapter. Haha. Anyway, It works beautifully, evenly toasts bread and bakes accurately. I am happy with the product.

We have used this for three weeks now and it works flawlessly. Toasts bagels better than any product I have used. Well built, easy to use.

This works excellent for toast, as a oven for baking potatoes and for broiler. Excellent size for 1 or 2 people. The price is high but the quality so far seems well worth the price.

I purchased this after checking out Consumer Reports reviews and have not been disappointed. Very easy to use, heats evenly, is small and doesn't take too much room.

Excellent heating, easy controls , preset options work well , esy to use and to change settings if needed.

I bought this to use while at a two week convention where we can cook our own meals. I unpacked it to check it out and it ended up staying unpacked. We use it for everything. There are only two of us and it is very handy for making cookies for two, roasting, and broiling. It is very well made and easy to use. Great purchase and a surprising number of uses. I figured the wife wouldn't want to keep it in the kitchen but after a few days, she made room. Much handier than a large over for us. Breville has a reputation for being high quality and it shows. Heavy duty and very secure looking and feeling.

Our 5 year old Breville compact smart oven stopped heating recently so it was off to Best Buy to get a new one. Yes the Breville is a bit pricey but you can't beat it for even toasting, broiling and baking. The size is perfect for us and it's really easy to clean with the slide out crumb tray and all glass front door. The presets work great because they adjust the heat from the top and bottom elements based on your selection. This is one of our must have appliances.
