    Compressor died after 1 month

    We purchased this refrigerator on October 25. On November 25, the compressor quit and it stopped cooling. On November 26, I contacted GE to ask that they service the refrigerator under their warranty. They offered to send out a repair technician in two weeks. Very disappointed in the product and GE's support.

    If I could return all my Cafe appliances, I would. Did not want to wait for KitchenAid to be in stock but I definitely should have. The Cafe line is NOT anything special. Poor quality for the price.

    Compressor failed after two days. We ultimately returned it. This is our second BAD experience with a GE / Cafe appliance.

    The build quality of the fridge is terrible for the price. I’ve owned it for only 5 months and I’m having multiple issues with it. Don’t buy it.

    Plastic roller in freezer drawer broke after having the fridge for about 3 weeks. Best Buy is replacing fridge with same model so hoping it does not happen with the new fridge

    First day, one of the LED lights inside the refrigerator started to flickering. And finally just died…. Brand new refrigerator!!! We were going to get Bosch but they were back ordered and this one available!!!!

    Loss my return window. My Cafe dishwasher delivery date kept being pushed back( and we trusted the company) month by month and now till November. Im stuck with a mismatched kitchen after spending a lot of money on appliances.

    The refrigerator stopped working after 20 days and Best Buy took no responsibility, totally unacceptable. Worst purchase ever, will never shop at Best Buy again!

    A disappointing number of issues

    We bought this fridge almost exactly 3 years ago and have had a number of problems with it since. The first issue was that the open door alarm started sounding when the fridge was closed. GE sent a repair person out and even though the fridge was still under warranty, the specific issue was not covered. The next problem was with the water dispenser. A plastic piece that holds the spring in place behind the lever you press your glass against for water broke off. The dispenser still works but still, for such an expensive appliance, we would’ve hoped for better build quality. We are not rough with our things. Which is why it was also surprising when I discovered the hot water was broken despite the fact that we have used it exactly once in three years. The only reason I discovered it is because at one point the touchscreen said the water filter needed to be replaced. After I replaced the filter the fridge still wouldn’t dispense water so I was pushing the practical buttons and turning the knob in hopes of getting it to work again. It was at that point I found the knob was broken and turned indefinitely rather than spring back to its starting position as it should. I was only able to get the fridge to dispense water again by unplugging it for ten minutes to initiate a hard reset. The last straw and reason why I’m bothering to write a review after three years is that the touchscreen has suddenly stopped working. It lights up, tells me that I’m able to connect the fridge to Wi-Fi (which I have zero interest in doing) but the screen is unresponsive when I touch the “dismiss” or any other button onscreen. I have to wait for the message to time out before the dispense will give water or ice. Looking online this is not an uncommon problem and the replacement part is $300 without installation. It’s all very frustrating for a supposedly high end fridge that cost over 3000 dollars. My wife hates it and wants to get something new but I can’t justify spending so much money after only three years. I guess it’s possible that we got a lemon but the fact that we’ve so many issues with different aspects of the fridge indicates to me that it’s a quality problem.

    Nice Fridge......Ice maker.....not so much

    We purchased this fridge back in October and was delivered about 3 weeks later. We actually love the appearance of it. Overall a great purchase. However, after months of use and day to day needs, it falls short. My biggest complaint is the ice maker. We are recent empty nesters which is great bc this ice maker has the capacity of probably 4 glasses of ice. I am so disappointed. We had a Whirlpool fridge for 21 years and the ice maker was HUGE. Family of 6 and friends and never ran out of ice. It takes approximately 2 full days to fill. Such a huge disappointment........wish I had inspected before purchase. So if you have a family of more than 4 you might wanna choose a different fridge, if you like cold drinks...........

    A piece of junk in a pretty package

    Beware: the water and ice system on this GE Cafe refrigerator has regularly malfunctioned during the routine replacement of the water filter cartridge which is needed approximately every six months. Recently, I paid $130 for a GE Factory Technician to remove and replace a GE water filter that was stubbornly stuck in the water filter assembly. The GE Technician removed the old filter and inserted a new filter, but he could not complete the filter replacement because the water filter assembly went out of alignment during the water filter removal. The GE technician realigned the malfunctioning water filter assembly by manipulating a component in the water filter housing with a tool that he uses to repair misaligned GE water filter assemblies. The repair took no longer than 3 minutes. The GE Technician did not check for the root causes of the malfunction and will not recommend a repair or adjustment to ensure that the malfunction does not reoccur. The GE Factory Technician will not share his instructions for the realignment process and will not provide the source of the tool he uses to realign the malfunctioning water filter assemblies in GE Appliances. I've asked GE Factory Technicians, GE Appliances Customer Support and the GE Appliances Executive Office to provide a diagnosis of the problem and suggestions for a repairs solution. The GE Executive leaders are aware of the malfunctions described by me and the GE Appliances Factory Technician, yet they assert that my GE Cafe refrigerator is functioning exactly as it was designed to; therefore there is no reason to repair the appliance. The only solution available to me is to purchase a more reliable brand of appliance and redo the custom cabinetry that surrounds my malfunctioning GE Cafe refrigerator. I made an expensive mistake by choosing GE Cafe appliances for my recent kitchen remodel.

    Unreliable over time

    This is a good looking refrigerator, to be sure, but it isn't what you want to purchase if reliability is important to you. We bought ours in 2014, and since then I've spent $700 in repairs. The bulk of that cost was replacing the motherboard. Our wood floors are destroyed by how many times it has leaked. The lettering on the exterior controls wore off and was illegible after less than 2 years. The hot water dispenser stopped working unless we pulled the fridge out, unplugged it, and then plugged it back in. That doesn't restore the hot water feature anymore - it's permanently disabled. As I write this, it is broken again and we have new water damage to our repaired floors. We just lost everything in both the freezer and refrigerator that were perishable - again. I gave it three stars because it never actually tried to attack us, but that may be generous.

    We had a Profile in the space before, we were sold the Cafe but we are not happy with the choice. it is lacking space. It is very small. The functions otherwise are OK.

    This review is more about the customer service than the product. The fridge is great but the customer service provide by Garson Beers at the Summerville SC store was nothing short of incredible. It is kinda hard to get higher end appliances right now and Garson helped me order, and then tracked the progress of my order. He periodically reached out to me with updates and he helped me get my order about a month early! I am very pleased with the amount of attention Garson and Beat Buy gave to my order. Thank you.

    For the money, nothing fancy here. You get hot water. You can get that from a tea kettle. Overall, it was a return for us for a Quad zone samsung. Which is way way more awesome
