Well after much research my espresso lust landed me on an $800 machine...but alas, my budget could not afford that. So I lowered my sights to under $400 and began my search. I read a lot of great reviews on this one and since my coffee needs are fairly basic (espressos in the morning/caps and lattes in the afternoon) I figured it would do the trick. As I write this review, I have owned this machine for almost 2 months and I absolutely LOVE it!!! With a true 15 bars of pressure, espresso pulls are hot and full of beautiful crema. The moveable milk froth wand is so convenient and creating great coffee drinks is very easy... all my friends and neighbors are thoroughly impressed. Plastic parts? Sure… but I don’t see it as a problem if you take great care of your investment. Could you buy a $1000 machine? Yes you could… But for $300 bucks the Calphalon does an amazing job! You will not be disappointed.

I’m so glad I got this!! This thing is a life saver! I no longer have to drive to a coffee shop and I also save money in the long run now that I can make my own drinks at home! I used to work at Starbucks so this is really nice to have in my home! I love the way it handles, steams heats up pretty quickly, shots are decent, it’s a manual sorta so you have to turn the knob back to starting position after your shots have poured. Very easy to use! I love the style! My wife loves it as well!! We probably save at least over $100 a month from making our own coffee, I also have a drip brew which I don’t like drinking when I go to work. I like my morning coffees smaller and more potent in the mornings! So glad I got it when it was on sale!!

Pros
Delicious tasting espresso
Straightforward operation
Steam wand makes heating and foaming milk super easy
Stylish look
Cons
No espresso bean grinder built in
Several steps involved, not quick to use
Can’t fit taller mugs under portafilter when brewing espresso
Hard to get portafilter in place
This is my first espresso machine. Overall it seems to be a well-made machine and performed well throughout my testing. It took a little getting used to aligning the portafilter, but after a little practice it is easier to do. Besides aligning the portafilter, it can be challenging turning it into place as there is resistance when trying to turn it, so you have to press hard to get it to turn into place. I wish this were easier to do.
I love the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Caffe Mocha at Starbucks, so I made those with this machine. They turned out great! I love that with this machine you can make Starbucks drinks that are actually better than Starbucks, all from the comfort of your home. No more $5 drinks and on top of that, you can control exactly what you put in your drinks as well as exactly how much of everything you put in. This comes with a stainless steel milk cup which can be used with the steam wand to heat up your milk and create foam. The wand worked great and makes it so much easier and faster to heat up and create foam in milk! When making the pumpkin spice latte, I steamed the pumpkin spice sauce with the milk in the stainless steel milk cup since the pumpkin spice sauce was also cold from the fridge.
My biggest complaint with this device is that it does require a fair amount of time and effort to make the espresso. I regularly make coffee using a single serve coffeemaker that uses coffee pods because it is extremely quick and convenient to make coffee that way. No measuring, grinding coffee, daily cleaning, etc. If you were hoping to buy this machine and make espresso with very minimal effort like with a coffee maker with pods, this may not be right for you. Considering all the steps and additional time involved, I think making drinks with this will be more of a treat rather than something I do on a daily basis.
To make a good espresso, it is important to freshly grind your coffee beans before you are ready to use them. If you use ground espresso that was not freshly ground, there will be a noticeable difference in the quality of espresso you get. Some other machines have a built in grinder that makes this process quick and easy, but this one does not. So, you first have to freshly grind your espresso beans and then carefully fill the portafilter till it is filled with the right amount of grounds. Once that is done, you then need to use the tamper on the grounds to flatten them in the portafilter. Once that is done, you have to lock the portafilter in place. Then you are ready to make the espresso. Once you have your espresso, you also need to steam your milk and pour it and any other ingredients onto your espresso.
After all of that is done, the coffee grounds must be scraped out of the portafilter (they are tightly packed in after you make the espresso), the portafilter must be cleaned, the stainless steel milk cup must be cleaned, and in my case the coffee grinder also needed to be cleaned. For some, this may not be an issue, but for me, I know I am going to be less likely to use this regularly due to all the steps and cleaning involved. It is nowhere close to as simple as popping in a pod, brewing your drink, and throwing the pod away. Some other espresso machines out there seem to include additional features that would help to eliminate the extra steps and time required to use this machine. Those machines are more expensive, but do keep in mind whether those extra features might be worth the cost for simplicity and fast operation. If you are looking to make espresso drinks regularly, it might be worth more to you to consider a machine that makes this process faster and easier. If you want to make espresso drinks less often and don’t mind the extra steps, then this certainly makes a great espresso machine.
Overall, I am satisfied with this espresso maker! It makes delicious espresso, is straightforward to use, and looks good as well! If you are ok with some of the extra steps involved with making espresso using this machine, this will do a great job! I have included a picture of the caffe mocha and pumpkin spice latte that I made with it. I am also including recipes for both below!
Pumpkin Spice Sauce (Enough for 10 Pumpkin Spice Lattes):
Source: Sweet Steep Tea Blog
Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, 2/3 cup pumpkin puree, 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Directions:
1. Combine sugar and water in a small pot on the stove over medium heat.
2. Once the sugar has dissolved and this simple syrup reaches a boil, turn the heat down to low.
3. Add pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin pie spice and salt to the syrup mixture on the stove.
4. Stir all ingredients together for a minute or two over low heat.
5. Remove from heat and let the pumpkin sauce cool. Store in a jar in the refrigerator.
Pumpkin Spice Latte Directions:
1. Brew 1 or 2 shots of espresso. I like 1, but this is up to you.
2. Add 3/4 of a cup of a milk of your choice (I used whole milk) and 1/4 a cup of pumpkin spice sauce (be sure and stir sauce before measuring) to the stainless steel milk cup.
3. Turn nob on machine to steam and insert the steam wand into your milk and pumpkin sauce mixture. The wand will begin to steam. Be sure and steam the mixture for a minute or two until the mixture is hot to ensure your drink is not cold.
4. Pour milk and pumpkin spice sauce over espresso and add any whipped cream or pumpkin spice on top and enjoy!
Caffe Mocha:
1. Brew 1 or 2 shots of espresso. I like 1, but this is up to you.
2. Add 1 cup of a milk of your choice (I used whole milk) to the stainless steel milk cup.
3. Turn nob on machine to steam and insert the steam wand into your milk. The wand will begin to steam. Be sure and steam the milk for a minute or two until the mixture is hot to ensure your drink is not cold.
4. Add 1-2 Tbsp (to your desired sweetness) of chocolate sauce/syrup to espresso and stir.
5. Pour milk over espresso and chocolate sauce and add any whipped cream or additional chocolate sauce on top and enjoy!

Pros
Quiet
15 Bar Pressure
Precision 1 and 2 shot settings
Shot volume can be calibrated
Simple cleanup
Easy to fill water reservoir
Fast warmup
Consistent thermoblock heater
Cons
Requires practice to master the perfect cup
Water reservoir is hard to see level
Machine has no water sensor
Group head tabs are plastic and easily damaged
Design
The overall size is fairly compact and is primarily made of plastic with stainless steel accents for the drip tray and one other section. The water reservoir is removable. The top is a section to store the tamper, milk frothing cup, and the portafilter. The drip tray has a water level indicator that lets you know when it is time to empty. The tray is removable and below the tray is storage for the cleaning needle and the unused portafilter. The portafilter appears to be made of cast metal with a plastic or ceramic handle. The manual is only in English and is very detailed on the types of shots, different types of drinks, how to make them, and how to determine if you have extracted the flavor properly. Oddly, it suggests trying a ristretto shot but then makes no mention of how exactly you can make one as there is no half-shot option.
Usage and performance
Hopefully, if you have decided to purchase an expresso machine of this type you expect it will require some education, practice, and maintenance. This is not a pushbutton expresso machine, but with practice making a good cup of your favorite expresso or other variation should be easy and can become second nature. With the thermoblock heater, heating up the water takes very little time. The water pump does make noise, but not significantly more than a regular coffee machine once primed. Even the steamer wand, which makes the most noise, somehow makes less noise than the expresso machine at your favorite coffee shop while still frothing milk easily. If you get your technique down and use good grounds, it’s very easy to get a nice caramel crema. Without higher end machines side by side to compare it’s difficult to get a complete picture. It’s hard to say it is better than a 9-bar machinef, but everyone so far that has tried their favorite drink from this machine has said the flavor was excellent. Some said it was better than what they were able to get from their local coffee shop. It must be said this machine has only every seen fresh ground coffee made in a high-quality burr grinder. This does help the overall quality of the brew but if you are looking for an expresso machine in this range it almost seems a requirement to have your own grinder.
The instructions tell you how many grams of coffee to use based on if you are using pre ground or fresh ground and how much force you should use to tamp them down. It takes a little practice but once you get the hang if it you can use the edge of the tamper and how deep it goes into the portafilter as a guide. It would have been nice to provide a place to stabilize the portafilter as you tamp it just to make things a little easier. A cleaning tool with a brush would also have been nice as a way to scoop out the used grounds and then brush out the remainder before final cleaning.
Included is a 1 shot and 2 shot portafilter. From the factory, a single shot dispenses 1-ounce of water and a 2-ounce shot dispenses 2 ounces. This can be changed to your preference, but it only allows you to have either your 1 and 2 shot preference or the factory default. There is no option to quickly change between different shot settings, but it is nice to have a way to adjust the two to your preference. Once you have it the way you like, the options are straightforward with 1-shot, 2-shot, steam, and water. The temperature, time, and volume are very consistent and reliable.
You may notice a trend. The Temp IQ Expresso Machine is a very consistent machine. It doesn’t have a lot of fancy controls, but what it does offer is consistency and simplicity once you have it adjusted to your liking. If there was any criticism to levy against this expresso machine it would be that the tabs that retain the portafilter on the group head are plastic. While learning how to use it, a slight misalightment allowed the portalfilter to get caught on the wrong side of these plastic tabs. There was no noticeable difference in force, but you can imagine what happened when the metal tabs of the portafilter scraped on the wrong side of the plastic ones on the group head. Thankfully the error was caught early and only some material was shaved off. Just be careful to practice alignment as you are first learning the machine. The other issue is the water reservoir. It is easy to install and remove but choosing white on medium gray makes it hard to tell the water level of the tank. This creates a further problem in that there is no water sensor. Since you go through water quickly between steaming, cleaning the group head before, cleaning the group head after, and of course brewing you can easily end up running out of water right in the middle of brewing a shot. One could argue that if you are accepting this very manual machine that it is on the operator to pay attention, but they are still worth mentioning.
Final Thoughts
The Calphalon Temp IQ Expresso Machine has a good balance of features found in much higher end expresso machines while targeting more budget minded consumers. So, then the question would be who this would be best suited for? If you want an expresso machine that is higher quality than the ones found at the big box stores but don’t quite want to venture into the lower end commercial grade, this could be a good fit. With good aesthetics, small size, very consistent operation, and simple controls it could be a good first starter machine or even replacement once you master the technique.

Excellent espresso machine, definitely love it and worth it. I purchased it less than $300 and my sister has the “upgrade” for this, which is the $700 Breville and believe me… the difference between them for an average user is very minimal and even for some people, you might not even notice much difference.

Elegant Stylish Home Espresso Machine

Calphalon Temp IQ espresso machine is an elegant stylish stainless look semi automatic coffee machine that is targeted for basic entry barista skills or with no experience on brewing espresso like myself.
What is in the box: Espresso machine, Tamper, Dual wall 58mm basket 1 & 2 Cup filters, Cleaning pin, Stainless steel milk pitcher.
This machine looks so great in the kitchen due to the modern elegant look and blends well with other stainless appliances. It just has a toggle button to turn on/off the machine, dial button to select single or double shot, steam for frothing milk, hot water. On the top of the machine, there is a slot for housing the tamper, and a plastic cup warming tray to warm the cups which is a good feature.
Water reservoir is removable and has a hinged lid with handle for easy filling and accommodates 2 liters of water. Make sure to remove the red plug on the reservoir when filing the water. I forgot to remove the plug and after few hours the entire countertop was flooded with water. So don’t forget to remove the plug or read the manual before using it for the first time.
As suggested, rinsed the basket, portafilter, stainless milk pitcher, tamper and turned on to make the first espresso shot. It took 30 seconds to get the machine to action. Filled the Lavazza Crema e Gusto Ground coffee in the basket, tampered it as instructed inserted it. It was little hard for the first time to get it aligned but got used in next few attempts. Selected the dial to 2 shot and voila creamy, rich, strong espresso was dispensed. Filled milk onto the stainless pitcher and was able to froth as instructed and was able to enjoy the lattes. Only downside is the noise when using the frother, its very loud where it can easily heard upto 50feet.
Only downside is it has plastic warmer tray that doesn’t get hot like metal or other expensive models and the plastic parts also gets in contact with hot water. Anything plastic with very hot water is little concerning although the manufactures advertises as BPA free. Also, no measuring spoon is included like other models.
Overall, I highly recommend this for any coffee lover who is looking for reliable espresso machine at affordable price.

Calphalon Temp iQ Espresso Machine is a stylish looking appliance that is small enough to fit on a counter top. It is made of both plastic and metal. The silver parts of the machine seen in photos are metal and the grey parts are plastic as well as the water tank. It comes with a 12oz milk pitcher, 58mm tamper, 58mm portafilter, two 58mm dual wall filter baskets (one cup and two cup), and a cleaning pin. After unboxing it, I looked everywhere in the packaging and cannot find the cleaning pin. I suppose that was an oversight at Calphalon. Not a terribly big deal, but since it is supposed to come with it, it is a little disappointing that it did not.
The machine is remarkably simple and easy to use. The espresso making part of the provided user guide is clear and easy to follow. The guide also has a section about espresso styles to try which was a nice touch. I was able to make my first café mocha within minutes of unboxing, washing the parts (portafilter, baskets, tamper, and milk pitcher) and setting up the machine. The components seem well made. The portafilter is made of thick metal and solid heavy-duty plastic (the handle and drip insert). The portafilter fits snugly into the group head. There is no play in it. Water flowing through the portafilter flowed as expected. The steam wand can be rotated and moved around to a position for use with the milk pitcher.
The settings are simple. Turn the knob to the left to either 1 or 2 cups. The machine will brew espresso in the amount that is appropriate for the setting then auto shutoff. Then turn the knob to the right to the steam setting. It will heat up water and it will flow from the wand. The flow from the wand is strong enough to froth milk, but not so strong as to cause a mess. Just make sure you have the head of the wand submerged in the milk. There is also a setting for hot water. I can see this being helpful to those who also like to make hot tea. That is all for the settings. It is that straight forward.
The drip tray has a metal cover that has holes to allow water dripping from the portafilter or wand to easily find its way into the drip tray. The tray also features and indicator that floats which indicates when you need to empty the drip tray. Also, behind the tray, you can store the filter baskets and pin tool. The water reservoir has a top cover that can be opened to fill it while the reservoir is in the machine. It also has a handle under the cover that allows you to easily remove the reservoir to fill in the sink.
Calphalon did a good job on this model. Overall, a practical design that is simple, straight forward, and easy to use. As far as build quality, I would expect the machine to last for many years provided you clean it at appropriate intervals. I like it enough to have given it 5 stars, but as it had a piece missing, I am giving it 4 stars.

Bottom Line Up front:
=================
If your looking to make respectable espresso at home, you can’t go wrong with the Calphalon Temp IQ Espresso Machine. After a solid week of repeated use, making single/double shot pulls and lattes for friends, family and myself – the machine delivered flavorful, consistent results. No, it’s not perfect – it’s a little noisy (especially when in “steam” mode), poor warming tray performance, and mostly plastic body exterior hold it back some. In my opinion (as an ex-barista) this machine isn’t really the best option for a true beginner, however at this price though, it’s hard to argue with the value it presents and will allow budding espresso aficionados to polish and build their skills.
Detailed Observations after a regular usage:
===================================================
As I briefly mentioned earlier – I spent a couple years back in the “college days” working as a barista for a couple different coffee shops. That being said…it’s been well over 15+ years since I can say I worked with a “professional” $1000+ machine on a regular basis. The reason I mention this, is that I was able to just start “using” the Calphalon Temp IQ Espresso Machine literally right out box with almost no need to look at the set-up instructions or anything like that. I think that is a testament as to how Calphalon tried to incorporate a lot of the more “pro” features into an affordable machine that doesn’t break the bank to purchase. Unfortunately, this also comes at the expense of not having enough “beginner” style material – such as detailed diagrams, explanations, web links, or videos to help new users along.
- Chances are if your reading this – your either:
1. moderately skilled/somewhat familiar in espresso making and looking for an for the best machine that produces the best results for the least amount of money. If this is the case – skip to the summary. The short answer is that this should be VERY high on your list if this applies to you.
-OR-
2. new to espresso making and want a machine to begin making espresso and espresso beverages at home without investing a mortgage payment into the hobby … at least not yet.
If you happen to fall into the “2” category – the explanations and diagrams in the included manual is not enough to really get “good” at frothing milk and developing the technique to get good “micro foam” with the steam wand. Fortunately, a quick YouTube search will remedy that, but it would have been nice if maybe Calphalon developed or produced some videos or material to help supplement new users skills.
Maybe it was just me, or the fact that the machine was still new/breaking in – but I had to hold the entire machine firmly with one hand while simultaneously locking the portafilter in place in order to avoid the machine moving around my granite counter tops. For as “nice” as the machine looks, it has a lot more plastic in/on it that you would think at first glance. This helps make the unit lighter and more compact, but I honestly think it sort of lessens the “feel” of the machine – particularly the hollow feeling tamper and filter handle along with the top plastic finished “warming tray”. Speaking of the warming tray, I think that was probably the least effective feature on my unit. It barely kept my all glass espresso glasses warm, however that can be remedied with a quick “pre-warming” splash of hot water or steam from the machine. Lastly, I almost had a giant milk explosion on my first latte, because I forgot that I had to quickly “turn” the function dial from steam – back to “Ready” with my other hand in order to get the steam to stop. I can help but think maybe a push button would have been the way to go there (at least for the steam setting).
What I liked:
===========
- The machine looks super classy, and the color scheme fits into my kitchen (and I imagine most people’s kitchens) very well.
- The all metal portafilter baskets and head unit really give a strong sense of durability and quality when using it.
- It’s nice to have all the “starter” accessories to make espresso beverages such as milk frothing pitcher, tamper, 1oz/2oz filters and cleaning tool all “FIT” into/on the machine.
- The water water reservoir and drainage trays are SUPER easy to remove and clean
- The machine itself is MUCH more compact that I initially though it would be – saving me a lot of counter space
What I didn’t like so much:
======================
- Mostly “plastic” build upon closer inspection and use
- Hollow feeling tamper and filter basket handle
- Noisy “steam” setting that also requires a quick hand to turn the dial back to the ready setting
- Mediocre plastic top “warming” tray performance
- Would have been nice if they included a mixing/froth spoon and a simple rubber mat as shown in the stock pictures to tamp on or place the hot milk jug during use.
Closing thoughts:
=================
I really liked this machine. It delivers quality tasting espresso and espresso beverages just like the pro machines (so long as you feed it quality grinds and know how to tamp “correctly”) – a ta fraction of the “pro” model price. Yes, there are “single serve” espresso machines (like the ones that use aluminum capsules – which I also happen to use own) that can perform similar functions – but nothing can compare to what an experienced hand can produce with this machine. I do think some corners were cut to get as many “pro” features at a lower price point – but honestly unless your used to the “pro” machine – you don’t even know what you be missing out on. All in all .... a solid 4 stars in my book – if only the plastic warming tray worked and a little more “metal” was actually used in the exterior of the machine, Calphalon would have knocked out of the park

Good looking Espresso machine that came well packaged yet easy to un-box and set up.
Elegant looking however quite simple and easy to use. Any time you are making coffees along the lines of an espresso you are going to have to put some time and effort into making a great coffee, having an espresso machine that is easy to use takes a lot of the work or frustration out of the process.
Our previous espresso machine was slightly more complicated, I did not realize how complicated until I was attempting to teach a person how to make an espresso. The Calphalon makes it a much simpler procedure.
Steam wand is well positioned and easy to use and does a great job.
Using the 2-cup filter basket, I used 20g of a fresh dark roast bean which I ground, using a manual burr grinder with ceramic burrs, and I used the scales when checking my tamp pressure to 30 lbs.
Following all the Calphalon Temp iQ Espresso Machine instructions, for startup, the temperature of the extraction, directly coming out of the portafilter, and in the cup, never reached above 165 degrees.
The first few espresso I attempted, it appeared I was getting a good extraction however I was not getting good color and they were bitter. I changed the coffee beans I was using, and my next few espresso were excellent. The results were a nice syrup extraction and noticeable three stages of good color to the final product, the taste was exceptionally smooth.
Remember, always keep your machine clean and ready to go, use filtered water, use good fresh beans or fresh pre-ground coffee, and you will generally make a great espresso, and this can lead to a variety of great drinks and fun.

no more starbucks! with calphalon espresso machine I can make my own espresso without spending too much on coffee!
Pros
- I think we all know most people would love any stainless steel design kitchen ware, some parts are plastic like the water tank at the back
- top section of the machine can be use to store the equipment that came with the product
- settings for 1 or 2 shots of espresso, steam and hot water section to choose from
- to use the machine you’ll have to wait till the ready section light turns white
- locking in coffee grin after pressing would require to hold the machine to make sure it’s set properly (maybe it’s just me coz I was super careful making sure it’s secured)
- at the back it can hold about 2.0L of water (i’m new to this, I tried to start the steam first without putting water first, if you’re new please don’t make the same mistake I did)
- i’ve made espresso using some Vietnamese coffee grind, it worked flawlessly and didn’t have any issues
- also the steam is your best friend if you enjoying milk froth this is the spot. around 30 sec the milk will boiling and usually end it there (this part scares me, I didn’t wanna make a mess)
Cons
- it will be messy if you don’t take care of this machine properly. but if you clean after used I don’t think it’s an issue at all
- like I said i’m new to this but youll want to pay attention when using the steamer coz it can cause serious mess
enjoying this perfect small espresso machine, it’s small enough to be place near your coffee machines in kitchen counter. i’ve already bought plastic cup to take to work because almost every single day I don’t mind making fresh latte to start my day. no more starbucks in the morning.

Coming into this with basically zero experience making my own espresso, I was a little apprehensive at first. I, like a lot of people, have gotten used to the convenience of pod-based brewers and on the surface, espresso seems like a real pain to make. Well, with this machine at least, that's not really the case.
Straight out of the box, the Temp IQ is just nice to look at. Its stainless and dark graphite color scheme help it to blend in with most kitchen décor. I have a stretch of countertop that's a scarce 13" deep and the Temp IQ fits perfectly. Despite its small size, it contains an absolutely massive water reservoir (considering you're only pulling a few ounces at a time), so filling it up isn't a daily chore. It also sits low enough that both the machine and the tamper, which has a designated storage spot on top of the machine, are able to fit beneath my upper cabinets. In short, a perfect fit.
It comes with essentially everything you need to make single and double shots of espresso, as well as froth your own milk. There is no grinder included, and since espresso requires a finer grind than most pre-ground coffees, you'll need to source one yourself, or have it ground at your local store. I picked up an adjustable burr grinder which seems to do the job perfectly.
Looking through the manual, there are very detailed instructions on how to properly make espresso, some of which I have absolutely no idea how to follow. For example, it's recommended that you use 20-30 lbs of force for tamping. How am I even supposed to measure that? In the end, I wound up using the manual as more of a "guide", and went the simplest route. I basically just grind my beans, fill the basket with enough grounds to clear the wall line (but not enough to reach the top), tamp it until it looks compact, and go. This haphazard approach consistently results in absolutely fantastic espresso rivaling what I get in local cafés. Dark and rich, but not bitter, with a good layer of dark caramel crema. I refuse to believe that I just accidentally stumbled across perfect settings, because I'm in no way consistent with this approach, but the Temp IQ is still consistent with its results.
I haven't had quite as much luck with the steaming wand, and this is entirely my own fault. One of our friends used to be a barista, and while he was visiting he made me an effortlessly perfect cappuccino, so there's clearly a proper technique to it. I haven't quite got it down yet, but I'm getting better at it. He was quite impressed with the machine's quality.
Operating the Temp IQ itself can be a little confusing at first because everything is controlled by turning the center knob. It makes a little more sense if you also think of the "ready" position as "off" or "stop".
Cleanup is a breeze. The bottom grate comes off, and is easily just wiped down with a wet rag. Hot milk tends to cling to the steamer wand, but the manual details how to keep the nozzle clean, and if you wipe it down after each use, it stays pristine. The drippings cache at the bottom will notify you when you need to empty it. It's just a very well designed machine.
Overall, this fantastic, compact machine has become my new favorite kitchen appliance. It's super convenient being able to make café quality lattes at home, and it's nowhere near as difficult as I always imagined it to be. I'd definitely recommend it.

This espresso machine is fantastic. It has a 15 bar pump that extracts wonderful espresso, with a beautiful crema on top. It is really easy to use, comes with a tamp and holder, has a cup warming tray, and a flexible wand for steaming milk for lattes and pouring hot water for americanos. The stainless steel finish also looks fantastic on the countertop. It also has a 2L water tank so that you don't have to worry about refilling the water very often, and an easily removable drip tray with storage behind the tray for the espresso filters (really the permanent home for the 1 shot filter since I have to have 2 shots).
It really has never been easier to make espresso drinks. The only drawback I can think of is that it is sometimes difficult to turn the filter back on the machine. I'm hoping it loosens up over time, but I have to hold the machine with one hand while I turn or the whole machine goes with it. Also, there is no sensor to tell me that I've had too many lattes!

Summary report:
Product meets or exceeds all described functions. This unit makes a great very strong expresso in one size and up to two outputs
Detailed results:
Warning: Do not try to operate this unit without removing the red stopper plug off the bottom of the reservoir removable container. This is not in the instructions.
This is a very heavy-duty (combat Tank) high quality SS unit was able make very strong expresso with your own coffee with no issues. Best Buy is very price competitive when they have specials on this unit.
Electrical cord was heavy gage wire with thick rubber covering and built to last. Also the unit is heavy and solid and appears to be built like a tank.
Be sure to use the cleaning cycle as directed and read the instructions and follow them exactly. Picture of debris from the cleaning cycle enclosed.
No grounds in the coffee using SS cups.
I also unplug my portable appliances after use and even hit the circuit braker during power outages for my appliances with no surge protector.
Works very well with skim and whole milk as that is what I use for my coffee. Very heavy duty unit and cord. Do not overfill 20% fill max for the first time in the SS cup.
Notes: Cover all outputs with a cup or bowl when using this machine. Sometimes a little coffee will squirt out the espresso port when first using the wand. Never turn on the steam or water without first putting a large enough container under the stem wand.
There is no warming plate/ only a drip plate
Warning: Do not try to operate this unit without removing the red stopper plug off the bottom of the reservoir removable container. This is not in the instructions.

This makes better coffee than a breville, hands down! I did have an issue with it, but I’m trying to get it replaced. The water wasn’t coming out as hot as it was prior. Only 6 months of use, sadly, but the taste and ease of use is absolutely unbeatable

Bought this for my wife for Christmas and we've been extremely pleased...not sure why we didn't buy one sooner. Went with trusted Calphalon brand and it's very easy to use, easy to clean and makes fantastic lattes.
