This lens is awesome! The ability to shoot between 200 - 400mm makes sporting events so much easier to work. The photo quality is amazing!

Although this lens is expensive, it is probably the best lens I own for wildlife photography. It is fast, and sharp...snappy, and it is light enough that for the occasional "grab shot" I can hand hold it steady enough to get good images. I also love the fact that the 1.4 converter is built right into the lens. That offers the maximum flexibility in shooting and it is one less piece that needs to be taken off. I have far fewer dust issues because of that.
Great lens!

In terms of top of the line EF Canon lenses before having to switch soon to an RF adapter for my mirrorless R7, this competitively lighter 400mm lens is still one of the highest quality pieces of glass I've ever used. With it's ability to capture way more light at maximum zoom, plus using the included inline 1.3x tele-extender, I've done a lot of comparisons between 400mm lenses and this is the clearest, cleanest, easiest for a grab and shoot when the unexpected happens and was caught in the rain twice without any problems afterwards. "For professionals only" doesn't apply unless you compare the price to level of aptitude, which you shouldn't (but making more than 2x the price of the lens back in a year of use tells photographers if you make a living off it).
