Customers commend the EOS 7D Mark II for its exceptional image quality, ease of use, and impressive speed, particularly its high frame rate which is great for capturing sports and action shots. Positive feedback also highlights the improved autofocus and low-light performance compared to its predecessor. However, some users note that the camera's weight and battery life could be improved. The abundance of features is also a frequently cited positive aspect.

I wanted a camera that would still allow me to use the lenses I had already purchased for use with my Canon T3i, and a couple of new lenses I was considering as well. That meant no full crop, which was fine for an amateur like myself. I keep a 15-85mm lens on the 7D Mark II when it is in the camera bag, and the two work very nice together. I get to set the focal points to full blast. There's a ton of them. And if you haven't loaded the lens data into your camera yet, I would highly recommend it. This camera has so many great features! It did take a little getting used to, but there are enough similarities to the T3i's screens so as to make for a smooth transition. I am really enjoying this camera! Nice job Canon.

Coming from the Canon Rebel T3 this is a dream of an upgrade.
Get this camera if you don't necessarily need full-frame but would love the features found in cameras like the 5D Mark III or the 1DX. This is essentially the ASP-C sensor camera with the most features. Top of the line, for Canon, that is.
Personally, I'm loving the fact this has such a wider focusing system. It felt very weird that my smartphone could focus on more points across the overall image than my old Rebel T3. While that is still true, the image quality with this camera certainly separates them. Plus, you obviously get plenty of other benefits with a DSLR.
Overall, I am super pleased with this purchase. I did not wake up with buyer's remorse, like I do with some things.
Totally recommended if you can afford it!

Overall I give this camera 4 out of 5 stars. Below are the pros and cons of the camera:
Pros:
- Solid build quality (if you need a weapon on a photo shoot, who would have thought that your camera could be that weapon). This is a solid piece of equipment and when holding the camera you can feel it.
- Dual card slot.(I use a microSD card with an adapter with lower resolution images saved to the MicroSD card so that I can upload to flickr while in the middle of a photo shoot if there is downtime).
- Great picture quality
- Amazing control and customization for control options
- More lens options then full-frame offers
- Awesome shutter-life count (~200,000k)
- Non-Compressed HDMI out (although I haven't tried it yet)
- Headphone jack
- Separate audio input
- much much more....
Cons:
- Not full-frame (but whoever is buying this camera should know this already)
- Price is a bit steep compared to other cameras with APS-C
- Just as big as the Canon 5D Mark III
- No NFC
- No Wifi control
- No Tilt-Swivel screen/touch screen (probably to stick with higher build quality)
- No auto screen off when eye is in the viewfinder eye-piece (big annoyance because this drains battery life)
- Not all pictures seem to be really sharp. It feels as though some of them are too soft. I even tried adjusting the sharpness just for the lens but had no success.
Would I recommend this camera? Yes
Do the Pros outweigh the cons? Depends on the user. (I found a way around the NFC and Wifi option without draining battery power)
If I could do it all over again would I? Yes and No. It depends if I had more money when I did it all over again.
This is overall an amazing camera. I moved from the Canon Xti to this camera and talk about a difference of leaps and bounds. It is amazing the more pictures available to me. Not being limited to 1600 iso is great. I don't like to go about 6400 but at least I have the option if I do need to go that high. It is better at low-light compared to my Xti and it shows that technology has come a long way in 10 years (figuring I got my Xti when it was new and spent ~$1100 out the door compared to this item I purchased for ~$1450 out the door with the 64 Gb memory card.
It was a bummer to not have a lens but I already had the 50mm f1.8 and I was just fine with that lens. I have since added to the collection. This is a great camera overall. Powerful and fast.

I am an armature photographer who like to do a wide range of photography styles, this is the third Canon body I have bought, I also own a Canon 6D and a 70D which are both great. This body tops both of those in its speed both in autofocus and shutterburst. This is a great body for shooting sport or wildlife of which both have fast action. Over all it was a great buy and it is a awesome camera.

My original EOS Rebel died 5 years ago leading me to explore the then rapidly maturing capabilities of smartphone-based photography. Industry failure in support of serious mobile editing led me back to DSLR space. It's not evolved as quickly as I'd hoped for low-light and mirrorless full frame, but the 7D has some significant internal advances. Use of dual (and latest) DIGIC 6 processors swung me away from the 5D (which continues to have better overall reviews.) There are some awful reviews of the 7D, but the Mark II with the latest firmware continues to surprise me.
The 7D is definitely NOT a great choice for beginners or casual shooters. This camera is HEAVY. If you add a professional grade L-series zoom lense it becomes tiresomely heavy. Be prepared to adjust because transition to a pro-am camera also requires you to take control of per lens sensor calibrations if you want best results. The quality improvement even when using my old EOS lenses is noticeable. Available options and capabilities the 7D Mark II offers present a challenging learning curve. Be ready to learn even if you thought you knew your old EOS body.

I have had an amazing experience with my 70D and decided to step up to the 7D mark 2. The 7 D is definitely a heavier camera, and for a more advanced photographer. That being said buy this and learn how to use it what an amazing experience this camera is....I love it!

The Canon 7D mk2 is amazing. I just shot a little league game with the 70-200 f4L lens and every shot was in focus and perfectly exposed. I have had trouble with every camera i used trying to track a batter running to first base with me at first. This camera caught the hit and perfectly tracked the runner all the way to me. 10 frames per second is nice too. To get the most out of this body I recommend buying the L series lenses.

The Canon 7D Mark II deserves all of the applause it has ever received. The Auto-Focus system is state of the art, comparable only to Canon's top of the line model.. Captures birds in flight with ease. This camera is a top camera choice among birders because the AF system, image quality from dual processors, and extra reach from the APS-C image sensor. It can capture details in stills with stunning accuracy.

My upgrade to the 7D Mark ii

This camera was purchased as an upgrade from my Canon 60D, great camera by the way that I used for 4 years. Immediately out of the box the build quality alone was impressive. This camera feels great in your hand and when paired with my 16-35mm f2.8L and 24-70mm f2.8L the balance of lens to camera feels about right. I will say that when I installed the BG-E16 battery grip the balance for me was perfect.
From the first pictures I took with this camera the improvement to the auto focusing system is leaps and bounds better than what I was using with my 60D. That is to be expected because of difference in number and type of focus points alone but the camera simply is more snappy when it comes to focusing.
A small detail that I feel many reviews I’ve seen have failed to point out is in the viewfinder. In the 7D mk ii there is a scale that is located on the right side (when shooting horizontal) that indicates proper exposure when adjusting settings in manual modes. The 60D had a similar system located on the bottom but I really had trouble using it and adjusting settings while looking through the viewfinder. This also brings me to the placement of the buttons and the expanded ability to customize buttons, a feature that I didn’t plan on using at first. Long story short, with my 60D I took double the amount of test shots than I do with the 7D mk ii. In fact, at this point after using the camera for about a month I rarely even take test shots and I shoot almost exclusively in Manual mode.
This camera for sure has taken my photography to the next level simply because I am comfortable and confident in my gear. Don’t get me wrong I can still get great photos out on my 60D and it still works like a champ but the difference to me is evident in my finished work.
Very happy with the camera.

Great Camera For Nature and Wildlife

I purchased this after my old camera broke on me. I debated for a while on this camera and a much cheaper model, but the 10 frames per second rating sealed the deal.
My main subject to photograph is whales in the wild so a fast camera with a quick burst mode is a requirement and I have to say that I've been VERY impressed with this so far. While I have not had the chance yet to use this on the whales (will need to wait until April) I have photographed the ocean, hawks, owls, and my dogs running around the yard. The photos continue to come out crisp and clear. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who's serious about photography.

The camera has a solid feel in my hands. Perhaps a bit heavy if handled for an extended time, but I like the fact that it feels so well made!
I have not mastered all of the capabilities of the camera.
But, after a few outings, including a family wedding, the pictures were stunning! The detail was so crisp and clear.
At the wedding, I noticed that the paid wedding photographer was eyeing my camera.
My only wish is for the camera to have an articulating screen on the back of the camera. That would make it easier to take shots at different angles without having to stoop or contort into difficult positions.

I bought this camera because I already had the Canon 7D Mark I and wanted a little bit of an upgrade. It was an incredible upgrade! The image quality, auto focusing, and FPS is leaps and bounds better than the 7D. I use a Nikon D4 for work and I will say that its comparable excluding the D4's full frame, especially for the huge price difference.
I recommend this camera for any serious, semi-pro action sports photographer.

I needed a new high quality DSLR that would give me results comparable to the 5D Mark III. While it's no 5DIII, it does perform at a high standard to help me produce high quality cinematic wedding films. Fairly good in low light and also shoots in 1080 60fps. I'm still getting used to controls but overall it has the same layout as other Canon DSLRs so the learning curve will be minimum. I now use this as my primary shooter for video until I finally take the financial plunge for a 5D Mark III. Overall I'm satisfied with this purchase and for the price you cannot go wrong.

I was a professional photographer for a long time and my field camera was always a Canon. Now I shoot a lot of nature and traveling photography and still using Canon products. Although i had a Canon 7d I upgraded to the new Canon 7d MarkII and what Canon has done is an excellent upgrade. The camera is lighter the fps are much faster the focusing is extremely fast and accurate and the light meter is extremely accurate. Excellent camera for professional or serious photographers.

I took a chance getting this camera for portrait and wedding event photography as the 5D Mark III is recommended for this. I'm glad I took the chance and purchased the Canon 7D Mark II. I highly recommend this camera. It has excellent low light ISO capability especially paired with a lens like Canon's 70-200mm 2.8L IS and 35mm f2 and/or 85mm f1.8 lenses. Wedding reception photos came out clear at ISO 800 to 6400 in a dark banquet hall using off camera flash. This camera is phenomenal. I own the Canon t5i which is a highly impressive camera. Friends and clients cannot believe the photos I'm getting with the T5i. The Canon 7D Mark II just takes everything to the next level. Autofocus is spot on even in low light and with fast moving subjects. One of the best investments I've made in camera gear!
