For the price point, this camera is an animal! Having used Sony and Nikon mirrorless systems before Canon, I can say that I’m kicking myself for not switching to Canon sooner! The battery dies a bit quicker, to be expected as it is a smaller body/ battery, but the quality of the camera, photos, video, and how easy it is to use is fantastic! It’s a blast every time I take the camera out!

This is a fantastic entry level, full frame, budget camera that is the little brother to the R6 Mark II. An upgrade from the RP, you get the form factor and ease of use of the RP but get the sensor and processor or the R6 Mark II. Also, the overheating problems associated with the RP while filming video are gone. My wife and I also own the R6 Mark II. If it weren't for the fact that we must use the R6 Mark II with Canon's RF 5.2mm VR lens, we would just use the R8. We love this camera!

This is my first camera that didn’t come with a flash however the flash that I ordered has complemented the camera very well. The camera is easy to use and not too heavy. I’m getting great pictures out of it

Pros:
One noteworthy advantage of this camera resides in its remarkably swift autofocus system, capable of achieving an impressive rate of up to 179 frames per second in Full HD resolution. This exceptional autofocus proficiency ultimately translates into the production of exceptionally high-quality results, capturing moments with unparalleled precision and speed. Additionally, the camera's compact and lightweight design adds another feather to its cap, ensuring convenience and ease of transportation for photographers and videographers on the move.
Cons:
Nonetheless, a few notable drawbacks mar the otherwise promising picture. First and foremost, the camera's ergonomics fall short of the desired standard, potentially leading to discomfort during prolonged usage. This ergonomic deficiency may be particularly irksome for photographers and videographers who rely heavily on the camera's performance over extended periods. Moreover, the camera's battery life is regrettably disappointingly brief, necessitating frequent recharging and potentially limiting its usability during extended shooting sessions. Furthermore, the camera's build quality, or the lack thereof, imparts an impression of fragility and flimsiness, which could undermine the confidence of the user, hinting at a less-than-robust construction akin to a fragile plastic device.
Verdict:
In conclusion, the camera, with its extraordinary autofocus capabilities and portability, emerges as an appealing option for hybrid users and travelers, who often seek a combination of swift performance and ease of transport. However, it is imperative for potential users to recognize the need for an additional battery pack investment to alleviate the camera's frustratingly inadequate battery life, which could otherwise limit its suitability for extended usage scenarios. While the camera's shortcomings are evident, its strengths, when harnessed effectively, make it a compelling choice for a specific niche of users.

Awesome camera, bought as my first camera and it was a great choice, good for photos, good for videos, great entry level camera and complementary camera for more experienced photographers

Although there's only one SD card slot this camera knocks it out of the park with features. The people eye focus and the animal eye focus feature works just as good as my R5. We purchased this camera to take on vacation in January, we didn't want to possibly lose or damage the Canon EOS R5 while on our cruise. This camera is easy to pick up and go with so many great features.

This camera is everything I wanted in a camera and more. The mirrorless feature offers for more crisp, clear looking photos. My favorite parts about it is how light weight and compact it is while also offering a digital view finder and a level to make sure your photos are leveled.

The EOS R8 was a big step up from my RP, if we’re just talking about the picture and video quality. The look and feel are virtually the same, only with one major drawback. Overheating! Forget filming 4k in warm weather, you’ll be taking tons of cooldown breaks! Aside from that it’s a good camera.

I upgraded from the Canon T7 to Canon R8, and I’m FLOORED by the quality of this camera. It’s insanely light, which makes long days of shooting a breeze. Far more comfortable than my previous model! If you’re thinking of upgrading, and the R8 is on your list, DEFINITELY purchase it!

I may rookie to say the least, but this camera has been really easy to get used to and learn. I am mostly using it for a Contant creation for YouTube videos and Instagram reels and I’m really impressed with the camera quality without me changing any of the settings. I know it has more to offer, but I just don’t know how to use all of its features. Even with the basic settings, I’m incredibly happy with this camera

I’m thrilled with my new R8. I upgraded from the M50… big jump there. I wanted full frame and was considering the RP but for not that much more to get so much more camera. Images are great and feels great in my hands. I’m using older Canon FD lenses and also EF-L Series lenses, both with adapters. Both are widely available uses for great prices on eBay and work great with an adapter. 5 stars for sure

This is my first real mirrorless camera. I really like how slight and compact this camera and lens are! Since I have had many Canon DSLR's, I like and understand the layout of all of the controls. This camera will be used mostly as a travel camera. I have not had a chance to download images yet, but am confident its images will be superior to my iPhone ProMax 13 images. I need large file sizes for print competition and this camera will do this for me!

Great camera! The R8 is literally the R6MII for a grand less, a few cons would be that it can over heat depending on what youre dking (its a Canon, theyre known for that) the battery is a bit small, and some people may miss the lack of IBIS, I use this for video work and honestly i prefer just fixing it in post (IBIS has warping on the edges). For the price its a great entry to Canons full frame lineup!
