I had an older Cobra Radar Detector that I bought a few years ago. Unfortunately, it went off a thousand times a minute. In fact, I was pulled over and got a ticket for speeding. When the officer saw my Radar Detector, he laughed and stated that it must not be much of a help :( I then decided that it was time for a new Radar Detector. After doing some research, I decided on the Cobra SPX5500. I love the design and all of its features. It has already most likely saved me from a couple of tickets. However, it continually warns me about oncoming Trains!! I can be on the highway and it warns me about a train approaching. Really?? There are no railroad tracks anywhere in the vicinity within 5+ miles!! Unless it's a runaway train, there is something definitely wrong. Maybe it's just a defective one that I have. I will be exchanging it for another one. All-In-All, if it is just a defect, I highly recommend this Radar Detector. It has all you need and more. It will even warn you about oncoming trains (JK). The radar detector performs as stated in the write-up online. There are a few faulty issues like previous reviews start like "train coming" when I am pulling into the garage. It picks up signals approaching radar or if radar is coming from behind. I am not completely happy with the window support as it bends easily making the radar detector bounce off of the dashboard.

Cobra Radar Detectors are priced for what they are worth. You will get some false signals (X, K and Train) but it does pick up all the Police (Ka)! So, for the money I find this detector does its job!

This is a pretty good radar detector for the price. There was no way I was willing to spend any more than what I paid for this one. But the voices of each alert are very distinguishable and sounds are not at all annoying like other radars I've purchased in the past. I haven't had it for too long but it's been very helpful so far. It's definitely saved me from getting a few tickets.

This unit is accurate and cost effective. I'm planning on buying one for another vehicle. I had a 500.00 passport and used it for 1 day. This Cobra far surpasses is and I can buy 3 for the same price as one of the other brand.

Well I guess that I should start with the fact that I have not had any tickets since purchase so that is a plus. Does not seem to go off any more than it should as I have seen with other units. The only thing that I would change with it would be the cord, it could be a little longer. To really get 360 degree access I need to have it just under my rear view and in my vehicle the cord is tight to reach the unit.

This product gets done what you would expect it to do. It has decent range and for how it's worked for me sure has beat the $500 detectors. It's been more than satisfactory for me and I use it everyday. 5 Stars because of the functionality for the price. And it's saved me. The areas it goes off at that are not cops you just get familiar with on your frequent day to day route. Even then, it going off helps remind you to keep your radar instincts active.

The radar detector is accurate. Displays the distance of at least 1 mile.

We purchased one of these for a cross country road trip and it worked beautifully. We drive a sports car that draws a lot of attention and it clearly saved us many times on the way there and back. The options included in this detector are great and the price was so good compared to other brands that offer comparable radar detectors, so I bought a second one for our other sports car once we got home, and we use them in each vehicle in town and on the road and are very happy with them.

Has already saved me a couple of times from speed traps works well and for the price u can't beat it

Bought it b4 my road trip and it picked up the radar signals well b4 police were in range. Highly recommended especially for the price. Visual & sound worked great!

This product is proficient. It picks up some police radars but of course misses a lot as well. I can say I haven't been stopped since I purchase it. Lately I've been driving like an adult :/

Used this on my 800 mile trip (each way) and was very happy with the results. Only drawback I have come across is when it tells you about a train crossing when you are on a major highway. Not a problem with the unit, just a minor annoyance. Overall I would give it 4.5 stars if I could

For the price, it works well. You definitely have to learn how to drive with it since it beeps a lot some days. It picks up everything but I haven't missed a patrolman either.

Great product for the price. Has picked up signals far out. Does not give out a lot of false signals

The radar detector has saved me from getting some speeding tickets. Well worth the price

its funny since owning this that i have had not one cop sitting on the side of the highway pointing a radar gun at me. i assume that part is working properly and being the reason it was purchased. there are false alerts with it litterly at times going crazy with no cop or train in sight.forget the suction cup throw it out the window i use the velcro strip provided that keeps it steady in place on the dash

This radar detector has definitely done its job! Every cop with radar on has set it off and saved me from a ticket. It is not the best, but does what it is needed for. It will randomly go off saying a train is coming, but not very often.

The small size packs a big punch, it doesn't hinder the view of the driver, and is very effective on picking up numerous types of radar, including train crossing routes.
