Very touching and surprising movie. Wonderful actors

This is personally totally my kind of film, but not for everyone. It hits you in all of the emotional feels. A man has lost his child and struggles to get back to his normal life. In his grief he writes letters to death, time, and love, which his uses to express his anger and pain. Meanwhile, his grief keeps him from being able to contribute towards​ the business that he helps to run, so his partners take some drastic measures in order to try and force him out of the company, by using the letter he wrote. The movie attempts to play this as misguided caring with a bit of professional desperation mixed in. Overall I thought the cast members beautifully captured their roles and that each character is portrayed with noticeable strengths and weaknesses. I could see the end coming but I wasn't left with the impression that it was a big secret that was supposed to have a big reveal. I definitely enjoyed this movie, but I could see why others wouldn't.

WARNING: This movie does NOT contain explosions, violence nor gratuitous sex scenes. Based on a smartly-written screenplay by Alan Loeb, it is mostly dialogue, delivered by an ensemble cast made up of some of my favorite actors currently working in Hollywood today; each one superb at his/her craft. This amazing cast is directed by David Frankel and will cause you to pay attention, think, self-reflect and quite possibly get a little teary-eyed, too. Give this movie a try, if for no other reason, than for the cast, and you will be glad you did.

The previews intrigued when I first saw them - big case of star talent although it wasn't quite clear what the underlying drive point was. But, it was pretty evident 10 minutes into the movie. And, while an emotional rollercoaster, the end brought closure and was a bit of a surprise - sad, satisfying and uplifting. I've recommended this movie to a number of my friends as a movie, while emotionally draining, painful and sometimes hard to watch, nonetheless, it is well worth the journey. And, probably one of the best performances by Will Smith.

First I'm an Aspie (Asperger's syndrome/High Functioning Autistic) so I'm interested in films that are emotional as it helps me learn, explore, and understand the complex social/emotional underpinnings of human reaction to and interaction with complex situations. As a result my review may not be relevant for/to everyone. Having said that I felt the film had an excellent cast and showed emotions that were understandable and believable. I thought it was an excellent film.

There are life events most of use refuse to think about-much less discuss. This movie was SOOOOO WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! Well written, EVEN BETTER ACTING- EXCELLENT CAST!!!!!!! I laughed, I cried, I rejoiced!!!!! Thank you so much for this movie!! I watched it over & over again on cable and then did what I do - added it to my library! It had all of my favorite criteria for a movie-great story, loyalty, respect, love, reality, commitment and a happy ending!

NO MATTER WHAT ROLE HE PLAYS THIS ACTOR IS VERY TALENTED AND SHOULD BE NOTICE FOR THE MULTI ROLES HE HAS PLAYED. EVEN THOU THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT ACTORS WHO ARE OUT THERE. THIS ACTOR GETS INTO CHARACTER. SLYVESTOR STALLONE IS A GREAT ACTOR BUT HE IS ROCKY IN EVERY MOVIE. THE SAME AS ARNOLD SWARTZ A STIPUD . HURRY RUN GET THE GUN. SAME STIPUD ACCENT AND TERMINATOR ATTITUDE. THESE ACTORS GET NOTICE BUT CANT ACT MULTI ROLES.

This film has a lot going for it, starting with a very good cast (Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Ed Norton, Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Michael Pena and Naomi Harris). The film deals with the fallout stemming from the death of the daughter of Will Smith's character and is told in an interesting and moving way. My rating of four stars signifies a better than average film -- one that I feel is very good, but that falls a little short of being great.
