Lasted 3 months before the right earmuff fell off and the lights stayed on randomly at random brightness. Don't waste you're money on this junk.

It's good, but here's what could be better

These headphones are pretty good. I've had them for almost a year now, and I can give it a proper review now.
Some background before I get into this, before these Corsair headphones I had HyperX Cloud Stinger I wired headphones for gaming. They were cheap and they lasted me about 9 years. I'll be comparing this Corsair headset to those headphones and some personal headphones I used for general use over the years (ranging from 30 dollar headphones and 400)
Where it's good:
- The sound is impressively good for a $60-140 headset. It can feel lacking in base, but it's pretty negligible. It makes up for this by being satisfying in mid-high ranges. I personally enjoy using this for gaming and music because it does a pretty good job. Sometimes I hear things in my songs that I otherwise wouldn't with my Bose earbuds and headphones.
- The surround sound is accurate and precise, as all gaming headsets should and usually are.
- It looks extremely nice and feels like a quality pair of headphones (it's weighty and doesn't feel like just plastic).
- The software, although takes some time to set up, does offer some more flexibility compared to cheaper or wired headphones (equalizer, light customization, and some microphone tweaking)
- The microphone muting system is convenient, and was personally one of the big things I looked for when purchasing this.
Where it struggles:
- The comfortability is pretty decent, but I don't recommend it if you wear glasses. I saw someone else say that, and I didn't care, but these headphones will literally wedge a dent in your skull if you don't get proper breaks (it will go away after some time)
- They also start becoming uncomfortable on the the top of your head after 3-4 hours of playing games. Even when you first put the headphones, you could say to yourself, "Oh, these are pretty heavy." While you really should take breaks, I'm not one of those people, and most young people aren't. This is probably from the material the frame is made of.
- The microphone is iffy. I feel my $40 dollar HyperX headphone mic was much better, and while talking online and with friends, the differences were pretty obvious. It randomly peaks while talking and picks up noise from a pretty long distance away. Essentially anything that you can hear, is something the person on the other side can hear as well. That makes some conversations funny, but I seriously don't recommend these headphones for its microphone. You'd be better off getting an actual stand-alone mic than using this one.
- The battery life stated is misleading. While these claim to be RGB, it's literally just the logos. Surprisingly, the two logos that are lit up reduce the battery life from a comfortable 20 hours to a measly 5-6. That's about as much as a high end pair of earbuds a fraction of the size of these headphones. If I had to guess, the weight was already too much to risk adding a better battery, but that's speculation. This makes both the battery claim and RGB claim pretty misleading. You really can't have both at the same time.
- The set up to these headphones was annoyingly long compared to what I've had. Bose takes maybe 5 minutes if you don't already have an account, and sometimes less than 30 seconds if you do. Wired headphones you literally just plug in. These took 5 minutes just to set up an account, another 5-10 minutes to make sure I was getting the right application to begin with, the a further 10 minutes just on the application just to get the things that I wanted (equalizer, mic, lights, ps5 connectivity). By far the mic took the longest due to it being so quiet. At least for me, I have to boost it on Windows AND the iCUE application just to be audible.
- This is a personal pet peeve, but the lack of a pause, skip, or rewind/replay button annoys me. It's wireless so you really expect it to be able to do that, but it doesn't. It would be fine if they implemented a system like Bose, Sony, or most other headphones where you can double, triple, or hold the power or volume wheel to do one of those actions, but it doesn't. Instead, if you press the volume wheel, it changes the equalizer preset, which is super useless. I've never one needed to use that.
- If you plan to use this for the PS5, be prepared to lose any customizations you made through iCUE, and turning down the volume immediately after logging into your account. It starts off at max volume and will reset to max if you disconnect for even a second. That's annoying to me, but it may not be to you, or you don't think that's product ending enough to care.
Don't get the wrong idea. Just because the cons are longer than the pros does not mean these headphones are bad. It takes more time to explain exactly where these go wrong compared to exactly where it goes right.

High Quality and Comfortable Headset

These are a great pair of headphones. I was looking for something that I could use wirelessly with my Playstation, and its great that this is specifically designed for that.
You can tell the quality of the headset right out of the box. My box was delivered pretty beat up and it looks like the delivery person wasn’t too careful. That wasn’t a problem since the company does a good job of providing enough buffer and protection in the box that the headset itself came through without any damage.
Installing was pretty simple and straightforward and I didn’t have any issues. One quirky thing about using these headphones on a desktop is that when you plug the headset in, but don’t “turn it on” it will get its power from the USB port and set up a wired driver for your computer. I used this while plugged in on my computer first since I wasn’t sure how much of a charge there would be. The weird thing is that the USB wireless receiver takes priority over the wired connection, but if you’re plugged in and haven’t pushed the power button, no sound will come through the USB’s driver. You have to switch to the other driver to hear anything. However, when you push the power button on the headset it actually disables the driver for the wired connection and only the wireless connection exists, and it now works properly. This isn’t really a problem in that everything still works fine, its just a bit quirky and might through you off if you’re using your headset in a wired mode to charge it and no sound comes out.
On a PC the sound is great, but installing the Dolby sound app and using it to tweak the sound really makes a difference. This is still a headset so it isn’t as good as a real surround sound system, but I think that the app really improved the performance of the headset.
The headset itself is very comfortable. It has a size adjustment method I haven’t used before in that it has essentially a cloth headband insert that you can adjust the size of by using the Velcro on the inside of the headset. As long as this doesn’t wear out to easily, I can see this as being better than the style that extends the band by having extendable plastic components in the band itself. I often get my hair caught in those as I adjust them and its just irritating to get your hair pulled out every once in a while.
I love the ability to adjust the sound on the headset itself and to mute the speaker by lifting up the mic. The earpieces comfortably fit all the way around my ears, and it makes it so much more comfortable than on ear headsets or earbuds. I can wear this set for a long time without any issue or discomfort. It’s nice to not have to exit a game or go into the options to tweak those settings on the fly. If you’re into colors and that type of aesthetic, its fun to be able to set a color patter on the logos of the headset. Personally I don’t care that much since I can’t see it when I’m using them, but it’s still fun.
Everyone said they could hear me through the mic easily and clearly. I use it for gaming and don’t really do any streaming, podcasting or other things that really take a great microphone so I don’t know all the ins and outs of what streamers might care about, but the quality is great for me.
Overall these are an amazing set of headphones that I would gladly recommend to any of may family or friends.

The HS80 is a comfortable gaming headset, that has good audio and a great microphone. The build is durable and appears built to last while the design is stylish yet simplistic, focusing on function of features.
The sound is pretty good. I’m not an audiophile but the songs I’m used to listening to for bass, vocals, and other instrumentals came across clear and as expected. Plugging in the USB dongle and turning on the headset has been enough to get the headset functioning. The slipstream technology doesn’t lag in it’s delivery and I can’t tell it isn’t hard lined. No issues with distance and I didn’t notice any cutting in and out until I put a few walls between the headset and the dongle. If you want to start customizing, you can do so using the EQ and lighting settings with the iCUE software from Corsair. I’ve also found that if you need to plug in while gaming, the headset works through it’s USB-C charger. The headset does work with Dolby Atmos which is such a neat way to experience sound. I was able to hear where the action was happening and the details of the game.
I find the headset to be comfortable and stylish. I liked the white more than I thought I would. I tend to get dark peripherals as they do not show dirt as much as the lighter colors, but the white/gray combo doesn’t disappoint. There’s plenty of foam on the earmuffs and I don’t really notice any wear fatigue unless they’ve been on for quite a while, 4 to 5 hours. There’s no cheap creaking when you flex the headset the parts that are supposed to move are made of aluminum. The adjusting is done on the headband which is threaded through the headband part of the headset and adjusted by pulling the Velcro ends to where you want them.
As far as features, Corsair went for a simple design. You get a volume wheel, power button, charging port and a non-removable folding mike boom. That’s it. And if that’s all you need that’s fine. I would have liked to have seen an audio jack for a bit of versatility. It’s hard to say what the boom material is made of, but it easily folds up and out of the way when not in use and easily adjustable. The headphones rotate 90 degrees so you can wear them around your neck, but only in one direction which I found to be a bit odd. The headphones rotate so that the mike boom in facing in towards your neck and the ear muffs rest against your collarbone. The mike boom isn’t uncomfortable, but they could have made it rotate the other direction just as easily and got the boom facing on the outside. Also, I like to place the earmuffs facing out so I can turn up the volume and give my ears a rest when I’m not on comms.
In summary, I like this headset, and it is a good headset, but with a few flaws. The build quality, aesthetics, and sound quality are up there with some of the best. The limited rotation of the earmuff and lack of an audio jack are really the only complaints. If those two things are deal killers, then these headphones are a great pick.

Perfect Gaming Headset

Overall, I really enjoyed gaming on this headset due to the comfort, clarity in the sound, and seamless connection to my PC and PS5. I'll list a few of the reason I gave a 5 star rating down below.
Comfort: As soon as I put the headset on I knew I was going to be comfortable gaming with them for hours. They do have a bit of weight to them but the retractable band not only helps disperse some of that weight, but it also helps with providing a more secure fit regardless of the size of your head or the hair style you may have. The ear cushions are memory foam and feel secure enough that it passively keeps outside noise from interfering with gameplay.
Sound Performance: In the default settings out of the box, the headset provides excellent immersion in the gameplay. I was able to hear the loud boom of explosions, clear cut conversations through chat, the rumble of car engines, very noticeable footsteps, and impressive directional awareness. Although impressive out of the box, I connected my headset to my PC which downloads the iCue software where I was able to customize audio eq settings. This allowed me to quickly switch between wanting to be able to understand speech clearer or be able to distinguish enemy footsteps from my own. This headset also has the capability of using Dolby Atmos 3D audio which I have tried before and it is always a fantastic feature to have at your disposal. As soon as I was connected, I was nearly fully immersed in the game. I will also point out that having a wired connection to the PC improves audio quality in a noticeable way and I would recommend it fully.
Quality: I haven't dropped the headset or accidentally sat on them but the headset definitely has a premium feel despite the fact that the majority of the material is plastic. The buttons, volume wheel, and mic all feel solid. I think I'll be able to get a lot of use out of this headset but only time will tell. I really like the volume wheel because of how clicky it is. Every scroll has a distinct click as if I was scrolling on a mouse.
Mic Performance: I never had any issues with communicating online with this mic. In fact, I was asked multiple times if I had gotten a new mic because I didn't sound tinny anymore. It does a great job at focusing on my voice and not the noise around me. Some sound will leak through such as loud dog barks but for the most part it picks up my voice clearly.
Wireless Connection: It is always a bonus to game wirelessly. The wireless connection is without a doubt seamless. I never noticed any lag even when I was in different room! I believe it is rated for 60ft without any obstructions and although I didn't test the length, I was able to get up and grab a snack from the Kitchen without losing connection to my game. I was still able to communicate clearly with my friends over chat. Corsair also advertises SlipStream which allows you to connect to one single receiver with other Corsair products with this feature which is a huge bonus if you plan on getting multiple wireless corsair devices like a mouse and keyboard.
I cannot say enough positive things about this headset. I really enjoy gaming on them and I really hope they last me a long time.

had it for a day, its great to plug in and get going. The instructions do not mention the velcro head adjustment straps. So know its velcro... volume and buttons are not annoyingly placed at bottom (interferes with shoulders and hoodies) DEAL BREAKER - cant leave room without loosing signal.
Thank you for your feedback. For the best range, it would be recommended to have the USB dongle inserted into a direct USB port on your system where it has direct line of sight of the headset. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out, we'd be happy to assist: help.corsair.com

For years I've used an open back audiophile set of cans hooked up to a Sound Blaster for audio positioning and the set up works great. But I want something that I can take with me anywhere that can offer the same performance or as close to it as I can. The Corsair HS80's are fitting the bill nicely.
My main use for the headphones are gaming at work. I usually get to work about 60-90 minutes early, fix my coffee, read some news, and play a quick game. For a few years I depended on IEM to isolate the sound of the presses chugging away because I thought they'd be the best for the job. It's nice to know that closed back HS80 can do a great job of tuning out the presses and the impolite folks that don't want to back off while you're off the clock. Plus with the headphones, they now have a visual clue to step off until I clock back in.
As far as sound goes, I keep it set on Atmos because I like the sound better. It's a bit warmer and I'm able to pinpoint positions well enough that I don't need to play with the other settings. The others might be better for isolating player movement, but I'm more into the immersion. Bass is deep without being overpowering or muddy, the mids are detailed enough to pick what I need out of the noise, and the highs are toned down enough to not be ear shattering. The default settings are actually pretty clean in my opinion.
I haven't noticed any delay in sound, which I was fearing with using a wireless unit.
One big plus is that the HS80's don't get as hot as I thought they would over my ears. One of the reason I like open back is that they're cooler. But I didn't have any heat discomfort using the HS80's yet. We'll see in a few weeks as temps get higher.
I haven't gotten to use the mic yet because my friends all dumped Warframe for Elden Ring and I don't really like ER and went back to WF. Guess I'll have to make new friends or keep running solo for now.
Comfortable, lightweight, no wires, great sound, and decent positional audio make these a winner in my book.

HS80 is a huge improvement over HS70 and VIRTUOSO gaming headsets from Corsair. The build on the HS80 is much improved, I am not finding the cheap plastic tabs that snapped in the older headsets around the ear cups on the Virtuoso or the hinge/headband on the HS70. These feel like they are built to last a long time.
The ear cups are on a metal hinge which gives much more stability to the headsets themselves. It just gives off a premium feel.
The wireless range is almost insane. We have a largeish house, I can go a good 100-150 feet from the receiver and still pick up clear sound through many walls at that point.
The sound and mic are fantastic. You really can almost feel where the sounds are coming from. My son took someone out with one shot based on the sound and not any sight of seeing his opponent. It was most impressive.
One drawback, for me, since these are quite tightly built. My massive cranium is uncomfortable in a long session, they feel tight on my head. They do not press on my glass frames to make uncomfortable but more of a pressure around the back of and above my ear. My son thinks they are very comfortable. he is 17 and not a small lad either. If you wear a 7 3/4 or larger hat, these may be tight on you.
Comfort is half the battle with headphones, sound is the other half. These easily win in the sound half. The comfort may come as they get worked in a bit, but right now that is the only drawback I am finding with these well designed and much improved headphones. Maybe they can come out with a XL design. :D

Took multiple times to post the review due to an issue of my own making.
I was traveling and using this while on vacation in another country and Used this on my MSI Delta 15 laptop. Unbelievable performance from this gaming headset.
1. I took it on a trip and really worked well traveling. the mic and ear cups held up very well.
2. After the time I tried to write this review didn't work 3 times I'm glad I had issue posting because I was able to do even more.
3. This is gonna be pretty direct in pros and con's
Pro's
Battery life is really good. Had on a 6.5 hour flight to Frankfurt Germany lasted for the whole time I used it. You gotta eat and sleep. So for about an actually 3 hours of use worked really good. Cut the outside noise on the plane and enjoyed Forza 6 racing game. After getting back home and downloading the corsair ice program it allowed me to actively see battery level and adjust the colors. I didn't get a chance to use the dolby atmos part of the headphones. Stereo and regular surround sounded amazing. When playing Forza the sound separation was amazing and very life like. I Have a home theater system that I compared the audio to. Very close to my dedicated home theater. Now this is not a replacement for a home theater of course but for over the ear it works amazing. Next the firmware update is pretty fast which I really liked. The color cannot be adjusted to the sound of content which I thought was a let down. But I guess the sound quality more than makes up for it.
Cons.
Biggest thing is the dongle to use the headset. Not the best for portable laptops. Don't leave it in your laptop, it will get damaged. But other than that I will have also mention the lack of RGB light sync with your audio content would make this even better.

Everything I hear from these headphones are BIG. At 40% of the volume it sounds like it is on full blast. The sound makes it seem like I am in a space bigger than where I actually am. That means—it is so good—it makes me feel like I am really in the realm.
Out of the box, it does require some tweaking of the sound using the app equalizer—but that’s any other speaker—I adjust them to fit my taste. Luckily, the app is easy to use, I can set the sound settings and tweak the lights to match my set up.
The headset itself is nicely made. The finish feels nice to touch and the materials are solid (vs. flimsy ones). The band automatically adjusts to my head which is good but is a little tight at the top. I am not sure if it is just my head but it kind of pulls my hair a little. Maybe in time it will change if it loosens up, but hopefully it does not affect the snugness of the headset on my ears. Speaking of being snug, it was comfortable enough to be on for at least 4 hours. It could also be that I don’t notice the time because it sounds good, but my lobes do not feel sore when I take them off.
Chatting is nothing exceptional but is a good thing. My buddies did not notice anything different so that’s another plus because chat reliability is important! Oh and even the connectivity is good—I can go get a snack or take a quick restroom break and not be disconnected.
Getting one for yourself? Sounds good to me!
