The wireless mode did not work, so I returned it, but Best Buy did only provide a store credit. I was not happy with the device nor with the shop.

I spent many hours on the phone with tech rep to end up with less than satisfying results. It needed new software downloads and the interface to the internet is less than acceptable.

I couldn't figure out how to set it up, tried to return it but it was after 15 days of purchase, so they would not give me my money back nor would they give me a store credit.

Camera works in the day but at night cannot make out much of anything. It is easy to use but not much help if you can't see from it!

Almost Perfect

Was nervous about setting this camera up after reading the reviews before i purchased it. It was really easy. Not sure where people are finding it difficult, i'm not a computer whizz however, I used the wizard on my lap top and selected the camera, then selected wirelss, identified my wifi, put in my wifi password and everything worked first time. Played around with settings and really happy with the product, my only want would be to have a slightly sharper picture, i may try out the hd camera. I didnt need a cloud router, it works perfectly with my at&t router. I have the camera working on my tablets, laptop and my samsung phone. I bought this camera to be able to watch over my senior dog while out, excited to be able to check in on him. The pan and tilt is very impressive. Even although i am a little disappointed in clarity of picture ( probably ruined by hd tv) i would still definitely recommend this camera, if i dont feel the hd is worth the extra cash, i'll be buying another 2 of this model. I will update you if i feel the extra bucks for hd is worth it. A must addition to your home.

Great camera to monitor my elderly mother!

After numerous trips to my elderly mother's house I bought this camera to keep an eye on her. She is aphasic and can't say what she is thinking so needed a way to figure out what she was trying to tell me over the phone. Also needed peace of mind that she was safe. I bought this camera and set it up today. Installation of the software through the online wizard did not go smoothly but I finally figured it out. I think it would be best to set up you delink account online first and then follow the wizard instruction. I had a problem because I had forgotten the wireless password but even once I had the password it still told me it did not connect wirelessly. So I did the install hooking it up with the Ethernet cable and I was able to use the camera. Then I disconnected the cable and low and behold it worked wirelessly. I set it on my mothers kitchen counter and can see the dining and living room. I told her I would turn it on when needed but I can bring it up on my iPhone or iPad whenever I want to see how she is doing. Feed is a little choppy but that is fine for what I need it for. You could turn the angle of the camera and see the kitchen if needed but I don't want her to see the camera move and wonder what is happening, but in case of emergency I could do this. You can also zoom, which is helpful so I can make sure she is taking her pills okay which is another issue. This will hopefully eliminate late night runs to her house to make sure she is okay when she calls confused and give me peace of mind. Modern technology in elderly care, well worth the price instead of having to hire a home health aide.

Excellent Options

The camera as a lot of options in the setup, if you use the D-view cam program downloaded from D-Links website. In this program you can open a web based version of the setup for the camera. You can setup the area's you want the motion detection, also you can have the program email you pictures & select how often. You can have the program email video's clips of the detection. There is a schedule setup as well. Sound detection which I don't use. I find the motion senor is very good - The Belkin I tried before this one sent me over 300+ alerts a day with nothing in them. This camera doesn't detect my cats moving around. You can have the camera record to your hard drive. This camera (D-Link -DCS-5020L# is by far better than the #Belkin - F7D7601.) Also, this camera has better night vision than the Belkin.
My not so great part about the camera is the lack of info on the setup of the camera in the web base setup. Maybe I over looked it?!? D Link gives you a very general guide on setting up the camera. Also, I wish the picture was a little bit better. But, I think the 77° view angle I think makes up for the low picture quality.
If this camera had better picture quality and better manual for setting it up, I would have given it five stars without any hesitation.

"Spy" Camera

I bought this camera because I am almost positive my landlord is letting himself into my apartment when I am not home. I set it up by myself, downloaded the app for my phone, and was able to log in on my laptop or phone to see live video. However, the instructions got a little bit too complicated for me to figure out how to see prior footage, even though I had set up a motion detector area and I was getting emails saying motion was detected--the links in the emails took me right back to live footage. I called dlink tech support and spoke to Marvin, badge #AR004612, and he couldn't have been more helpful! He logged on to my computer remotely and walked me through what he was doing, and now it works perfectly!

Works good after setup issue

During the setup I could not get the camera to talk to my WiFi. Plugged in the Ethernet cable and everything worked great. Finally called customer support and after a few minutes on the phone he asked what brand of router I had. As soon as I said Linksys he said "I know the problem." Can only use Wep Personal security with Linksys router. Nice if they would put that on their web site.

Bought this device for peace of mind. It took a bit of doing to set up, but once done, everything went well with the exception of a slight buzzing sound when accessing it remotely.
Whenever the app has an upgrade, you have to re-enter your password; that might be the only drawback. Recently had a connection issue; checked online info, and when that didn't help I called customer support and wound up speaking to Rosvel Curartivo, ID AR004648.The gentleman was nothing but helpful and professional during the first 110 minutes. It was after several different approaches to fixing the problem that he was made aware that it was a Dlink server issue. He took my name and phone number and promised to call back the same day or the following day; providing D-Link resolved their server issue.
I received a call the following morning. Again he was very professional and understanding, and had the problem resolved within fifteen (15) minutes. Couldn't ask for better support!

It's a great little camera

It's a great little camera, however, it was not suitable for my purpose. The Best Buy/D-Link tech support person Aikoo, ID# AROO4201 was phenomenal!!!! She knew everything about the product and how it operates. She walked me through the entire process of installing it, she was patient and understood my limited knowledge of technology, She answered all of my questions in a professional and understandable way. She's a credit to your organization!!! Thank you again Aikoo.....you're amazing!!!!!

Best Support Ever!!

Purchased cameras and recorder from Best Buy. Installation was easy until we hit a roadblock. Called D-Link, was on hold for a while, a woman answered, was kind of abrupt, explained that Best Buy customers have a different tech support line, and was transferred. After being on hold for a while, I was contacted by tech service Aldy #AR004246, who has the patience of a saint, and great product knowledge. He took the time to go step by step with the process and final installation of all products, discussed security, and did not finish until we were complete, and we were satisfied. The camera system is what we wanted, and the resolution is very good. Truly great customer service, and I am glad that we did business with Best Buy and D-Link. I was the one that asked for his name, so I could let others know that there really are good customer service personnel out there.

Great camera - so much easier than years ago

It was easy to set up, the only snag I had was the setup asked for the camera password. I bought this as an open box item for $89.95, it is worth the $119.95 price. Probably who ever had it before set it up online, so I followed the 'forgot password' steps. First, in error I pressed what I thought was the reset button, but looking at it closer I saw that was for a type of secure network setup, The reset button requires a pointed object like a bent paper clip to press it. The picture quality is fine, I wasn't looking for HD. This is immensely easier than the previous camera technology requiring cables, no audio, and in some cases a dedicated monitor. I like that this can be viewed on a standard pc and my tablet by downloading the app. That would be good if there was a Roku app for this to view it on the TV. If there's not I'm still very satisfied with the product,

Great device for detective work

My wife and I have had a problem with a mysterious pet occurrence and we want to get to the bottom of it. This camera will allow us to identify the culprit. This will also come in handy for monitoring my aging Mother In Law.
A good buy and easy set up with a few snags. Called Customer Support and got instant personal service from Carlos #AR004279. He walked me through a reconfiguration and voila, it is up and running. Great service department!

great product but a little challenging setting up

I really like all the features this camera offers but can be a bit of a challenge getting them setup properly. Thanks to D-Link's fantastic customer support badge ID AR004214 who spent a long time on the phone with me to help setup all the functions of the camera and insuring that the camera and my router had a stable connection.

This little camera was difficult to set up primarily because my router. Called customer support and Randy, representative AR004611, helped me through it in an hour. He was fantastic and patient with me. Now, the camera is up and functions exactly like advertised. I was equally surprised with the sound as I was with the picture.

Does what I needed it to do 90% of the time

Bought it to monitor dementia patient. Works in daylight and in darkness, app notifies when there is sound or movement, app is free for Android, IOS, Windows Phone and no issues using it over cellular data or wifi. Rarely disconnects; sometimes image freezes and you are unaware unless you refresh that you are not seeing a live image. Initial setup with wizard too a few tries to work.

This is my 3rd DCS-5020L. First two have worked great and I added a 3rd for additional views of my home. This particular camera I ran into an issue on the install and had to contact support for assistance on the d-link add-on. Support agent (Ed) was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He stepped me through the process and the newest camera is now added successfully. support case C6714457.
