So far it works great on my Mac. I am just using it right now to import all my Music CDs into iTunes and it's incredibly fast. My internal Mac drive was messing up bad, it rejected mounting my CDs and when it worked it took for ever to import the files. Glad I got this Dell DW316 external drive. I haven't tried any DVDs or any disc burning yet so I hope it's not going to give me any Mac compatible issues or tell me i need any additional software. This Dell external drive seems to be built a bit better than other units but you still need to be gentle the loading tray, other than that it's a good quality. I will follow up my review when do more testing.

Did the job. Not the fastest, but I'd probably need and internal desktop drive to get that. Considering my needs copying CD's for a few people in church who don't have new equipment at all, works fine with the enclosed software.

this unit works well with my Dell wireless laptop as an external DVD. I used it to back up my Windows 10 operating system onto several DVDs. It is extremely lightweight and does not require a power source other than the computer connection.

I did not want to purchase the turbotax software download and my new laptop that does not have a cd drive. This dell usb slim dvd drive allowed me to easily install and use my turbotax software that I purchased on a cd. This portable cd drive purchase was awesome, it has allowed me to use my new laptop without a cd drive with other cds and I do not miss not having the drive on the laptop. Allowing the new technology to work with the old technology is great. Love this product.

This product was exactly what I wanted. Portable, sleek and the drive was fast. Sometimes you have a disk drive and you sit and listen to it whirrrr.... but this drive just shot right through the disk with no pauses or problems whatsoever.

This is exactly what I needed. Among other things, I can cast to my smart tv. I am able to watch shows through my computer and do office work. I like its speed. I would recommend it to any one.

Excellent product and it has a downloadable media reader! The reader alone saves you the cost of a separate purchase of a media program. I couldn't be happier with this---great choice!

In my view, it is a good additional accessory for all those laptops that are not able to play any cd. It is easy to use, just plug it into the laptop via USB and that's all. The times that I have used it, it worked perfectly fine.

I purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 10, and as most new laptops it didn’t include a DVD drive. I purchased this external USB drive, plugged it in to a USP port and voila, the computer recognizes the DVD drive. Then I inserted the included DVD and installed its software, which just happens to include DVD player software. Installation went smoothly.
Long story short... The external drive was able to read and run the included software DVD, but was unable to play a new out-of-the-box DVD movie. I was able to watch the movie on a Sony DVD player connected to a Sony TV; so the problem wasn’t the media.
Who to blame? Maybe Windows 10, maybe the DVD drive.
