The device is not able to read any old CD I have. On top of it, the drive is not proper secure. Stay away from generic brand

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two Insignia tablets, one was an 8", the other 11.6". I needed to load data from a CD onto them for work so I purchased this device. The drive would show up in the list until I put a CD in it, then it would disappear from the list and the drive would sit there making a grinding sound and almost lock the tablet up. This was with both tablets. I then attached it to three laptops and 2 desktops and it worked perfectly with all of those. My conclusion is that the USB ports of the tablets cannot provide the power necessary for the drive to work. Since it can't work with the tablets I got, I returned this item. It would probably be great for a laptop or similar that doesn't have an optical reader, I think. But it doesn't appear to be good for tablets.
