    Mom needed it for something. Store manager discounted it because the model I initially wanted was out of stock but was showing in stock, so they discounted it to the price of the other model.

    I use this hooked up to my laptop. I've had no problems. It's not delicate; I've moved it from room to room and house to house. I have enjoyed watching 3rd Rock From the Sun on dvd (which can be bought cheaply and watched at leisure without commercials).

    From a performance standpoint it's about average to other external DVDRWs but the quality seems far superior to most others. I've gone through endless other brands that fail in short amounts of time while this Dell model seems to hold up well. For a few bucks more, it's worth it.

    I purchased product to run a CD. New Dell laptops do not have a slot for the CDs. Dell USB Slim DVD+/- RW Drive performed excellently for my new Dell laptop. Able to install new software.
