I love my new laptop! What a joy to have speed and efficiency! My only challenge was the limited number of USB ports. I resolved this issue by buying a USB Hub. Thanks Geek Squad for the recommendation!

Works great... used it to copy CDs..... once you get used to it..the process goes quickly. It also does a great job playing back movies to your computer screen..although not BlueRay

Needed an optical drive for a new computer installation. This one was on sale and does a great job. Seems to be well made and easy to use, that is, it's plug and play. Windows 10 recognized the drive the moment I pugged it into the PC

I like this unit for its small size and ease of use.

The unit is a true plug and play, being 83 years old this is very important. The drive worked as anticipated no short coming whatsoever. This is a quality product Best Buy and Dell thank you.

Bought three of these units, one for myself and daughters. The writing was on the wall that internal cd/dvd writers are going the way of the dodo. Putting mine away to be able to play cd/dvd's in the future. In a years time because of the solid state media they won't be available.

You basically get what you see. DVDs are pretty much becoming obsolete and I needed a drive for a recent project. Did the job.

This item is needed if you purchase a newer laptop since newer laptops don't usually come with a built in DVD / CD Rom Drive. If you have any discs that need read or burned, you need one of these external drives to perform those tasks. This external drive is working great and does what it is designed to do.

It's very light and easy to use. Speed is pretty fast. However, if it's USB3.0 would be better.

Totally easy to use and/or figure out. And very roomy that 1T. I am storing music. I plug it into my computer and I have instant music, or I may record music to it.

Enjoying off with the chrome book badly needed laptop

The Dell external USB slim DVD optical drive was very easy to install on my 8-year-old laptop.

Since computers no longer come with a CD/DVD drive (why not??) I needed to add one to my wife's new Dell Computer. This does what it is supposed to, but it sure is light-weight and feels flimsy. I hope it lasts. Works fine and was indeed plug and play.

Works great right out of the box. Easy to use, good quality.

Needed to get a new CD 'burner'... pleasantly surprised to find out that AC is no longer needed for operation of these (my replaced one was VERY old). This is (USB) 'plug and play'. Construction is much 'flimsier' than the old one- but everything, today, is the same. Hoping for many years of operation!
