I was worried when my laptop did not have a CD drive. However, it did have everything else I wanted. So I bought the Dell - 8x External USB DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive. It works perfect and I am very pleased with it!

Have not used drive yet, but $25 to have a DVD drive capable laptop with read and write function, as well as portability, will be useful. It is nearly impossible to find a contemporary laptop with a DVD drive. All on a 11th gen Intel i7 with graphics GPU....no brainer!

Normally, I would do a lot research before making a purchase like this, but I was pressed for time. I was a little concerned about compatibility, but the setup was quick and easy and so far every thing works as it should. However, I will say that I have not yet burned a DVD or CD as of yet and for that reason I can not give this device a 5 star rating.

OK, I have only had this about a week ad have not tried "everything". But as of this point I can say it plays CD, CDR, DVD, CDROM & DVDROM great with no issues. About the only thing I have not tried is burning discs. I mainly got this for installing my older games that are on DVDROM. I did play a couple CDs, CDRs & DVD and also works great. Very simple to set up even for a LOW-TECH old goat like me !!! The device itself seems to be nicely built and solid but still light weight and so when inserting a disc you might need to hold the unit with your other hand. The only thing I would change is the kinda short USB card. If it was a little longer this would be a FIVE star hands down, As with most major brands these days, DELL might not have actually made this and simply contracts other manufatures to make for them but even so whoever actually made this did a great job and build it solid.

Needed external DVD reader/writer since PC desktops are following Apple and eliminating built in on higher end models. I still need to occasionally install an older program or write some files. The Dell was a perfect fit to the Dell I notebook I had recently purchased.

Priced great and works perfectly. Needed it for our laptop that didn't have a CD/DVD drive.

Since computers dont have cd drive need one for home had portable 4 laptop but needed one 4 home works great easy to use and store Rarely needed but is easier to have one at home and one in briefcase

I'm still using it to this day and it works just fine for my needs for my computer.

My son has been using this drive for more than 3years. This is a good buy.

Yes it's a out dated option but for those of us that need to pull from their dvd and cd ROM files this is a must have.

Works with all CDs and plays them to the computer with ease

Bought this so that I could download software from a disc on my tablet. Don't forget any adapter cables that you may need to make this work for your situation

This was purchased to give my step great-grandson's new solid state drive laptop the ability to play DVDs. The peripheral works very well with the Dell touchscreen laptop.

Easy to use and efficient. It doesn't take anytime at all to plug it in and use it.

This Dell - USB Slim DVD+/- RW Drive is easy to use and does the job it was intended to do. I initially got it to play CDs, which it does nicely. It's slim and lightweight which makes it easy to travel with.

Since a lot of new all-in-one computers no longer come equipped with a DVD/CD drive, this is an excellent and inexpensive upgrade. Seems to fill the bill so far.

My Dell USB drive comes in handy for installing software that is more convenient using the actual DVD. Additionally, I use it for playing my movies and protecting it on the TVs in my hotels when I am traveling.

Works as expected. Fairly quiet. Very light so taking on trips is possible.
