I didn't have enough USB ports on my computer to perform the new project. Otherwise, the Dell Slim DVD+/-RW Drive would have been perfect.

I like the slim design and portability. Works well.

If you need a basic worker bee extrernal usb dvd drive, this one does the job. Nothing fancy or particularly special, but utilitarian. Pretty much plug and play. A little bit slow. Also, not the sturdiest of drives. But on other hand, light weight and easily portable.

I got this because of the internet thought I could set it up but I had no idea so took it back to the geeks and he set it up in front of me that was great I have o computer without a disc drive Thank you geeks and best buy

Needed to install the included software to get it to play a movie. Tray feels a little flimsy and it was very loud when the disc spun up.

The Dell USB slim DVD player works well, plays all the DVD's that I have tried in it thus far. Really like the product.

I bought this peripheral because the DVD function in all my 3 Dell laptops computer went in-op and could not be repaired or replaced. This unit is an affordable purchase and works well with my 2 Dell Inspiron laptops and my 1 Alien laptop.

Bought this unit because DVD players are being replaced by USB thumb drives. New computers do not offer DVD RW units anymore. Unit is self powered off of the usb drive and works very well.

Our new desktop did not come with a disk drive, so we purchased this Dell disk drive. I have a lot of music CDs to download into my new computer and so far it’s working great.

It is good but it kind of cheap quality product. I was worried it might break a part after one or two uses I had to return it

Needed DVD player for my Surface laptop. Connected easily and played. Very Satisfied!

Works fine, feels a little cheap, had trouble getting it to open the first time. But, like I said, it works just fine.

THIS WORKS GREAT AND ABLE TO PLAY MY OLD DVDS AND GAMES.

We bought a laptop but I was more concerned about the lack of CD Rom that the laptop had. The saleswoman pointed me in the direction of the external, which I thought were obsolete! Great Saleswomanship!

It does the job but sometimes takes to long to boot up. Other than that its great for casual use.

Over the course of a year, I used this maybe 15 times to make CD mixes for a friend, and I always treated it very carefully, since it seemed kind of fragile. Well, that was all I got out of it - it failed after that. Good thing I got the Geek Squad replacement protection (which it seems like they're not offering any more: not surprising, since it seems like these days smaller electronics are "built to fail". This was my second external drive in a month, when I got it!), so I got store credit I can use to get another. I have to use that, of course - no refunds - but after whenever that one fails, I won't buy from Best Buy again. I am not in the market for electronics that fail almost as soon as you buy them. If I was using it a lot, it wouldn't have lasted me more than a month! That's not Best Buy's fault, of course: it's not their fault that everything is made in the orient and the manufacturers would just as soon have it fail quickly so you have to buy another one of whichever device you've bought quickly. I'm tired of this! And I'm disgusted that you can't get laptops with internal drives in them anymore. I am still using my old Thinkpad - it works great after 5 years and an overhaul and upgrade - but I can't find a replacement internal drive for it.
