Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple and reliable external USB DVD Drive which is lightweight and plug and play, ideal for new thin laptops which do not have a cd-rom drive built in. Decent read write speeds and Dell is always a reliable brand with great technical support. I bought an open box item, but it was in mint condition. It does not play bluray discs, but you can't have everything and especially at this low bargain of a price.
I would recommend this to a friend Cheap flimsy.

We're sorry that your computer is not recognizing the external drive. Here are a few tips to help with your connection:
1. Drive cable may be connected improperly. Verify the interface cable
is connected properly. Disconnect and reconnect the drive.
2. Portable USB drive may not be configured properly. The drive gets its
power from the USB interface. The use of non-powered hubs and/or
daisy-chaining USB peripherals can keep the drive from getting
enough power to function. Try plugging the drive directly into the
USB port on the computer.

The drive works perfectly with my Windows 11 laptop that doesn't have an optical drive. I installed the Cyberlink Media Suite which turned out to be helpful, especially in copying and burning disks. No negatives to report, everything works great!

This one fits the bill perfectly for my needs. I have a huge library of DVDs and CDs. I will be able to enjoy them without hassle. I do have a laptop also; however, I prefer to watch on my desk top, but if I travel, I will be taking this player with me. :) As a matter of fact, my husband was so impressed, that he wants one. I will be purchasing one for his computer very soon.
