When i think of the Dell DVD / RW drive the overall quality was very good ,it was easy to set up the device and it worked perfectly with no skipping and i was able to upload some music cd's with no incidents, i would recommend this device.

Delivery was super fast, and the drive was literally plug and play. I've had it a couple of months and it works great, no problems. I bought it to archive image files and play cds on my PC, and it does both with little fuss. Completely happy with the drive and Best Buy

I can’t imagine why people are saying this is noisy. I just bought one and found it to be very quiet. It was a couple of dollars more than the LG after comparison shopping, but I bought it because I know Dell makes quality products. It was also heavier than the LG models and I assumed that maybe meant more sound dampening. It was definitely quiet.

i recently bought a Lenovo IdeaCentre all in one and there is a DVD on it BUT the burner wasnt working as it should .. i have protection BUT i am disabled and couldnt easily get the computer back to the store because BB should have fixed it for free - I actually ordered an external DVD player from another company because i had a deal and it got here and didnt work so i returned it and purchased this from BB instead ... I received it today - plugged it in and it works perfectly .. I hope i can continue to say that a few months from now but i have protection on this little doohickey too which would be easy to return to the store it was worth it to me not to stress about BB keeping my computer for 3-5 days to install a new burner and be without a computer ... I would highly recommend this Dell burner its perfect and i cant believe lots of computer nowadays dont have DVD/CDs in them ... my friend bought a small tower a weird shape ... it was cute but there is no DVD/CD on it and so many laptops dont have them either ... so this is perfect for that reason

This item will not work for my all-in-one desktop computer. It is made by Hewitt packer, but that is for Dell computers. I guess that’s the reason for this.

I purchased this Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 from Best Buy and couldn’t be happier with it ! The touch screen works great and it is the fastest computer I’ve owned. One of the reasons I decided on this is the size …. It’s a take everywhere , use everywhere size! Also, I use it for photos and it has a great great screen which I need for editing ! I’m happy with it!

Good slim DVD writer for the money. I needed one for a laptop that didn't have an optical reader/writer. This one fit the bill and was very affordable.

I purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 10, and as most new laptops it didn’t include a DVD drive. I purchased this external USB drive, plugged it in to a USP port and voila, the computer recognizes the DVD drive. Then I inserted the included DVD and installed its software, which just happens to include DVD player software. Installation went smoothly. Long story short... The external drive was able to read and run the included software DVD, but was unable to play a new out-of-the-box DVD movie. I was able to watch the movie on a Sony DVD player connected to a Sony TV; so the problem wasn’t the media. Who to blame? Maybe Windows 10, maybe the DVD drive.

Works great. Very easy setup with included disk. Linked to the computer without any trouble.

This external drive was worth the money! I have successfully been able to burn cds with it, aswell as watching movies with it on my computer. Just be sure to download a realiable media player on your pc when using this! It is compatible with the windows media player.

Easy plug-and-play, stores in a drawer when not in use. It takes its power from the computer's usb port, so it needs to be connected in order to open or close the tray (i.e. you can't get your disc out if it's not connected to your machine.) I'm working on a Linux-based system, and I did have to hunt down and install some extra proprietary codecs to play some discs. Other than that, no problems.

I’m not tech savvy so I thought I could just plug it up and pop in a cd and hear music that’s not the case I wasted my money

Needed to replace a dead internal CD/DVD drive on an aging Dell PC. Plugged it in. It worked. No set up. No hassles. And, it was inexpensive.

The drive is light and compact, thus making it easy to carry with a laptop. I've used it frequently for a month or so and have had no hiccups. It just works. Period.

Easy to install. Works well. Perfect complement to my refurbished (like-new) Dell laptop. What more can I say?!
