I am getting this for a gift for someone who does use the computer, but not for a lot of things. Really, it is a glorified tablet with the durability of a laptop. It comes with Windows 10, the memory is fine at 4GB, and the storage is a small for most people at 32GB. If you're a gamer or even use a lot of storage it probably would not be your 1st choice. My solution is to add a thumb drive for storage with my gift. Its the perfect choice for someone I know.

I purchased this laptop two years ago and have never had a single issue. I have always used this as my "travel computer ". I keep it in my diaper bag. I've dropped it more than a few times, my toddlers are always playing with it, it has never let me down. Its the same size as my tablet so it is convenient to carry.

This computer is too slow to run this operating system. It takes at least a minute to do any simple task. Sometimes it won’t even open up the window. If it wasn’t so cheap I would’ve returned it.

I love it the only thing I wish it had is touchscreen :( and another downside is that the charger tip broke the 1st week and I had to contact Dell for a replacement because Best Biy couldn't find me one

It's a nice little laptop that I intend to use for travel purposes only. The 32GB storage is VERY limiting. All I have on it is Windows 10, Office 2016, Adobe Reader and pdf995 and the free storage space is practically gone. Every time there is an update or I used it to access files, the available storage goes down even more. Even when I clicked the "compress files to save space" option the available storage dropped drastically. I guess that's a side effect of using solid state. I was told I can't increase the storage by replacing the drive because the solid states are basically hard-wired chips. At one point I had less than 1GB free storage. I had to literally re-install a clean, skinny version of Windows 10 just to eliminate all the Dell and bloatware possible. The price was good: open box. All said and done, my use for this is going to be a travel unit tied to OneDrive for purposes of accessing working files and projects remotely. It will do what I want, but I have to constantly be deleting old files in order to keep it useable. Right now I have about 14GB free storage but it seems to get whittled away bit by bit every time I use the unit. We'll see if I keep it long term.

I own a computer repair shop and my perspective is that of a computer expert. Some items in here may not make sense for normal users, so keep that in mind. I bought this laptop as a companion for my photo/video production backpack in which I carry several cameras. I wanted a way to review the footage on location. In that regard, note that the card slot is a MicroSD slot and you'll need a USB SD card reader to read normal cards. The available ports are acceptable for this price point. The Celeron processor's acceleration features and 4K external display support were important to me; having Intel Quick Sync means I can play 4K content even though the CPU can't handle it otherwise and OBS Studio can even handle capturing video of the screen! Being able to record tutorial video content is very nice; I was not expecting it to be able to handle screen capture effectively. One big issue which is common to 32GB eMMC SSD laptops is that the available storage space out of the box is pretty poor. Part of this is the big recovery partition you can't delete and may never use and part of it is the pre-installed software you don't need. If you are somewhat tech-savvy, I highly recommend using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to make a bootable USB installer for the latest version of Windows 10 and completely wiping out the eMMC SSD with a clean install. Between losing the factory recovery partition and the extra unnecessary software, you'll end up with roughly 13GB free of the total 29.7GB capacity (out of the box it's more like 7GB.) I find that this computer is fairly rugged for a small cheap laptop. It sits in a padded laptop compartment on my backpack but the pack is routinely laid down on top of that compartment. It holds up fairly well against the pressure of being transported. It is quite light. The battery life is GREAT when compared to my gaming laptop and most full-size brand new laptops I've seen. Battery time goes down significantly with the screen brightness turned up, so keep that in mind. Of course, the screen is quite good and is a matte LCD rather than glossy, a big plus since these laptops are likely to be used in environments where glare is a big issue. One crucial factor in purchasing this computer over other options was that it comes with 4GB of RAM. In my opinion, there is no reason to buy similar cheap 11-inch laptops with 2GB of RAM since it cannot be upgraded and 2GB is truly a bare minimum that is only really enough to run a modern web browser. With the extra memory I can have image editing software, a browser, a word processor, a mail client, and a chat client open all at once and not worry about wearing out the SSD due running out of RAM and falling into excessive memory paging. I did have an issue when I first bought the machine where it would not power on. It turns out that holding the power button for 10 seconds will do a hardware reset (clearing the glitch) and the computer should turn on properly. It can take several seconds for the screen to light up and DELL to appear after holding down the power button, so be patient! There's no power light and no hard drive clatter sound so you have no way of knowing it's powered on other than the screen. They could have at least put in a power light somewhere, but I guess you get what you pay for. One big thing I see in negative reviews for dirt cheap computers like this is ridiculous expectations, so you need to understand what this can and cannot handle BEFORE you buy it. It can handle web browsing, office suites, some image editing, audio editing, and even some light gaming, although none of it will happen super fast. It won't handle video editing, bigger video games, and it has limited capacity which means it can't hold 10,000 DSLR photos or high-quality music files. If you need more than about 7GB of storage...expect to add a MicroSDXC card, flash drive, or external hard drive, all of which will reduce battery life. The storage, CPU, and RAM **ARE NOT UPGRADABLE** so don't buy this expecting to be able to improve the specs later if needed; you'll have to replace the whole computer to "upgrade." I also tried to boot Windows 7 and 8 on this computer but neither of them worked, so be aware that you will be stuck on Windows 10. It will run Linux just fine and the hardware should all be supported by recent distributions. If you have realistic expectations, you'll be very happy with this computer and I recommend it highly.

This Dell hides easily in a pile of papers or a magazine, yet it's powerful enough to handle Word, Excel, and PowerPoint projects. If you mainly watch YouTube, surf the internet, use Skype, send email, and access web applications, this box is wonderful. Small. Lightweight. Affordable. But anything more demanding or mission critical may require a more powerful device. Fits on an airplane tray table with room to spare for your drink, and at this price I'm not stressed about leaving it in a hotel room nor needing it locked up everywhere I go. A great traveling laptop for everyone, or could be the only device needed for 100% low-intensity users.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with laptop. It’s extremely portable, has a battery that stays charged far longer than I expected, and performs the basic work tasks I require. I’d prefer more memory and a brighter screen. But the trade offs seem worth it.

I picked this up as a spare PC that I can leave unlocked for guests or to look up recipes, etc. In terms of price for performance this was a really good deal, weak processor but a decent amount of RAM for the size. The internal memory is mostly filled by the OS but a small USB drive will give you any extra space you need. Don't expect to do much more than running videos, browser games, or streaming, but the inclusion of a full sized HDMI out also gives it some potential as a cheap living room media PC as well. And I dig the bright blue case! Major drawbacks are the Dell bloatware, tiny keyboard, screens a bit small and not 1080P but you won't find much better for this price point.

I got this on a cyber Monday sale. Appearance I would give it a 5 out of 5. It terms of build quality I'd give it 3. While it's good does feel a bit cheap and the screen is ok at best. Viewing angles are good but does fade a bit from side angles. Let's talk functionality if you don't plan to install a lot of programs it's good. Otherwise it will lag and not enough storage to begin with. It does stutter at times even without anything being installed but gets what you need done for the most part. Overall it's good but definitely only worth buying on sale.

I owned Dell - Inspiron 11.6" Laptop - Intel Celeron with only 2GB Memory - 32GB eMMC Flash Memory. The 2GB proved to be a limiting factor with Windows 10; the laptop was extremely slow and could not perform more than one task at a time without freezing up. The 4GB version is much better. Would not be my go-to choice for a day to day laptop but if you work within its performance/processing limitations, it is a decent product for the price.

Laptop is quite appropriate for the price .Generally satisfied although it has only 32GB of ROM. This is where my disappointment lies .There is so much unwanted pre-installed hidden software that only approx.5GB is left free. And your report is very misleading when u say it holds 21000 photos etc.Yes I knew beforehand of the memory size but that was too much.
