I recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 14” FHD+ Touch Laptop in the eye-catching Pebble Green, equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD, and it has truly impressed me. This laptop offers an excellent balance of performance, portability, and style.
The performance of this laptop has exceeded my expectations. The AMD Ryzen 5 processor handles everyday tasks and multitasking with ease. Whether I'm browsing the web, working on documents, or streaming videos, the laptop delivers a smooth and responsive experience. The 8GB of memory and the fast 512GB SSD contribute to quick boot times and snappy application launches.
The 2-in-1 design is a standout feature for me. It allows me to switch between laptop and tablet modes effortlessly, making it versatile for both productivity and entertainment. The touchscreen is highly responsive, and I appreciate the flexibility it offers, especially for creative tasks or presentations.
The Pebble Green color adds a unique and refreshing touch to the laptop's design. It stands out in a sea of traditional laptop colors and adds a sense of personality to my computing experience. The build quality is solid, and the laptop is lightweight and portable, making it easy to carry around.
Battery life has been decent, lasting through a typical workday with moderate use. However, it's worth noting that performance may vary depending on usage patterns.
In summary, the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 14” FHD+ Touch Laptop in Pebble Green has been a delightful addition to my tech collection. Its performance, versatile design, and vibrant color make it a great choice for those seeking a well-rounded and stylish laptop. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a capable 2-in-1 laptop with a dash of personality.

Decent Device and Cat-Approved

Now that I've had this device for a few weeks, I think I'm able to speak about its usefulness.
It started when the hard drive went bad on my old Dell Inspiron 5520 from 2012... I was putting off buying a replacement, but I just happened to see this one was on a rather attractive sale for Labor Day. I took a look at the specs, pictures, and reviews, and impulsively bought this laptop for pickup at my local Best Buy.
Setting up the device is easy, even though it took me a minute to figure out the fingerprint reader. Overall, I really enjoy this new thing. The processor is fast, it has decent memory, the display is sharp, the touch screen works, the battery lasts for several hours, and it folds backwards. It checks all the boxes, and more.
Additionally, I showed my cat how I can set it up on the floor for her to watch her shows, and she was almost impressed. I take that as a win.
Despite all the fun we've had, there are two drawbacks that I'm not overly thrilled with. One, the pre-installed McAfee software is almost worse than an actual virus. It pops up with intimidating reminders and warnings. I uninstalled it once it became obtrusive. Second, I have had several Blue Screen crashes, resulting from "Driver Power State Failure". Not sure what that's about, but it's not very reassuring for a new PC/operating system.

This 14" laptop has a fast processing system and I like the light weight feel. I really like the touchscreen feature and I use it frequently! The 2-in-1 function is very handy as well. I am a musician and I have found the size to be perfect for reading and composing music! The only negative thing I've experienced so far is that the battery does not last as long while in use as I hoped it would.

I needed a laptop for school that would deliver a good user experience without breaking the bank, and I came across the Dell Inspiron 7425 2-in-1. I've been using this laptop for just about a month, and this laptop has been nothing short of amazing. Snappy performance, generous amounts of ports such as HDMI, x2 USB Type-C/DisplayPort, x1 USB Type-A, headphone jack, and even an SD card reader. The battery life is amazing too. This battery lasts me through an entire day with ease, sometimes even two, all while performing amazing in tasks such as using Microsoft Word, browsing the web, and even photo editing in Lightroom and some light gaming. I'd say this is a great laptop for a huge majority of people looking for one for casual use.

The new Dell Inspiron definitely feels like an upgrade compared to previous models. I used the previous model of the same laptop from a few years back and it seems like Dell is intent on improving. The chassis, while plastic, feels sturdy and has a premium feel to it instead of feeling like a children's toy; and the inclusion of a built-in webcam privacy cover was a really nice tough. The hinges feel strong, so I don't feel like I'm going to break it every time I flip it into tablet mode; but they're still smooth enough that it doesn't take effort to open it or flip it. The touchscreen is responsive and well-calibrated, and I really like the use of USB-C charging. The backlit keyboard is also really nice, particularly since I prefer to work in low-light environments.
Performance-wise, this machine is surprisingly good. The Ryzen APU has enough power it can run games, and when I tried multitasking with stuff like multiple Chrome tabs open at the same time as Microsoft Teams and YouTube as well as two or three Office programs while on battery not only did I never notice a drop in speed but the battery didn't even flinch. I didn't look at the claims Dell made about battery life, but I started a four hour work shift while constantly using it and it had dropped less than 50% by the end of it. It charges decently quickly, as well (though I will say that the adapter can sometimes get dislodged while still connected to the laptop, so it stops charging until you pull it fully out of the USB-C port and then put it back in).
Note: while you *can* game on this laptop, that doesn't mean you *should*. If you want something fun to play on break at work or school, this machine can handle it on low graphics or resolution. Civilization VI ran well, as did Minecraft and Half Life 2; but Genshin Impact pushed it to the limit.
Before I get to the bad stuff, there's a few more good points to bring up. The 500GB SSD was quick enough that it had the low loading times you'd expect from a Chromebook even when opening games, and it's also comfortably large. I installed every program I cared to use and then a few games to boot, and it still felt like it had adequate space. It never got cramped, like tends to happen with 128GB storage drives. Also, the Pebble Green model is very subtle - it looks like a normal laptop until you actually pay attention and can see the green. It's very classy, and it gives the machine a bit of personality while still retaining a "mature" look that laptops in neon colors tend to lack. Considering that this class of laptop tends to be designed for business or school users, I think that's a good styling choice on Dell's part. Finally, the speakers have decent quality when watching videos or listening to music. Of course, there's better out there; but these are decent enough that I wouldn't feel embarrassed using the laptop to show someone a video or something. I also appreciate that Dell included multiple ways to recover the laptop to the factory software, including online recovery software.
Now for the bad stuff. First, the keyboard is on the spongy side of things. It's not silent at all, so it could definitely stand to be firmer. Another issue is that the screen is ridiculously glossy - no matter what angle I had it at and even at max brightness, there was always some reflection and glare unless the room I was in was pitch-black. It made it awkward to use in an office environment with fluorescent ceiling lights everywhere. While the power button with the built in fingerprint sensor was really nice, I do wish that there was some sort of power indicator near it on the body of the machine. At one point I kept trying to turn it on, but apparently kept turning it back off when it showed no apparent signs of life. Another issue was that the laptop didn't work well with Dell's website when I tried to register: it said that SupportAssist needed to be installed (why was it not included?), and when I did install it the software refused to launch. However, the other Dell software did work, and there is another preinstalled program to get updates from Dell (called Dell Update).
So, overall, I think it's a pretty good laptop for business or school; and the fact that the APU has enough power to keep me entertained in free time without having to drag another device to work is a win in my book. It's not perfect, however; and I'd recommend against it if you work in environments with lots of light sources. But other than the glare issue, I'd say I'm overall pretty happy with it.

An ALMOST perfect laptop for daily tasks.

This new Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 laptop is a good midrange laptop that at 14 inches is portable, but still workable for all basic tasks. Mine is “Pebble Green” which is actually a really nice subtle shade of green and not obnoxious at all. Spec wise, you have a 14 inch touch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, very thin bezels, at just over 1080p. Since it’s just a 14 inch size, this resolution looks really nice on it, being sharp for text, colorful for photos, and bright. It’s hinged and can bend back into a “tent” mode for better media viewing, or, all the way back into tablet mode if you prefer that. You get a moderate 8 gigs of RAM, AMD Ryzen 5/5000 processor, and integrated AMD Radeon Graphics; all together these make for a pretty good midrange computer, capable of the basics (Office apps, surfing, email, photo editing, and moderate levels of video editing). The 512 gig SSD hard drive is speedy and has enough space for most tasks, unless you have a ton of videos to save (external backup drives are cheap now).
At this size, you don’t get dedicated number keys to the side, but the keyboard feels roomy enough to work on maybe not all day (depending on the size of your hands), but for a few hours at a time if need be at the very least. The trackpad is large and responsive. They do have a keyboard backlight for use in lower lit conditions and have a decent but not perfect about of “give” to them when pressed (a little shallow for me, but not horrible). A key in the upper-right acts as both a fingerprint reader, and a power button. There’s no optical (DVD) drive in this as it’s very thin, but you do get a HDMI port, two newer USB-C ports, one traditional USB-A port, a SD card slot for media and a port for your wired headset and/or external microphone. The built-in webcam has an official resolution of just under 1 megapixel and is capable of 1080p video – to me, this seems like it may be interpolated from 720 (not sure of this) as it’s just average video and sound quality. Good enough for casual zoom/video calls. I’ve seen better, but also worse. It’s usable, but if you need top-notch webcamming, invest in an external cam. It does have a small switch next to it that you can slide over for privacy and security, though.
Windows 11 after updates is running smoothly on this Inspiron. So far no hiccups, and all everyday tasks I’ve tossed at it have run with no issues. Bluetooth and WiFi have stayed connected with no issues. I’ve tried an older Microsoft video encoding screen recorder program on this, and it’s known to tax systems quite a bit – it definitely caused the fan to kick on with this machine, and video was rendered slowly but without major issues. The fan noise is normal and not squealyish sounding. I’m not much of a gamer but considering the integrated graphics, I’d say this should be able to handle all simple and moderate games, with only the most graphics intensive perhaps needing a bit more power.
I haven’t had this long enough for a super accurate measurement of battery life, but I would rate it as “better than average” across the board so far. You of course have to make your adjustments for screen brightness and processor level when on battery, but once tweaked, you should be able to get a normal day’s use out of this with breaks.
Ok, my one BIG complaint – the location of the charging port. Literally every laptop I’ve ever used has the charging port on the upper side of either side of the laptop, right next to the monitor, so that when your cable is plugged in, you can wrap it around the back so it’s pretty much unseen and out of the way. Well, for whatever reason, they put both of the USB-C (also used to charge) ports about midway down the left side of this Inspiron. As a result, when you have your charging cable plugged in, it glaringly sticks out on the side of the machine no matter how much you try to hide it (see photo). Very ugly place to put it, and there isn’t a USB-C or charging port on the right. Not a deal breaker, but one of those, “Why did they do that??”, types of things. On the plus side, this really is the only seriously bad thing I have to say about this laptop.
This Dell Inspiron 14 then, with the exception of that charging port location, is in my opinion a good laptop at a decent enough price these days, that will allow you extreme portability with enough power to do the things most people need to do daily. Good build, light, Good battery life overall, Very good screen. Recommended.
