An awesome deal with display malfunction

I absolutely love the specifications and the overall package (12 GB RAM, 512GB SSD, i7 n the processor). I bought this model 3 days ago and noticed a display issue. When I wake it from sleep, black squares appear randomly on the browser window which was already open. After I move the cursor or click or refresh page, they would disappear but this kept on happening consistently. (I have uploaded pics taken with my phone of part of my screen. Could not upload the whole pic of screen to maintain privacy.) So today I exchanged my first new piece for a brand new second piece of this exact same model. The second piece was getting the same squares while minimizing the browser window. Then after few hours, it is not having that issue. I am going to keep this laptop for few days and see what happens. But I am not happy about the display issues for a 926$ laptop (with tax after student discount). I have used my first DELL for 8 years from 2008 to 2016 without any occurrence of malfunction and still is all good except its speed. I hope this piece at least works flawlessly as promised like a new laptop. I need a high performance laptop like this for work.Except for the display issue, browsing, touch pad, touch screen, webcam, sound etc seems good, as expected. Very quiet laptop. I like the steel gray look. I miss the separate home and end keys which have been integrated with the left and right arrow keys in this laptop. I would not recommend to a friend because of the display issue.I would rather warn the friend and tell him the whole story before the friend makes a decision.

Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 15.6 Touch-screen Laptop - Intel Core I7 - 12gb Memory - 512gb Solid State Drive - Gray
I purchased this for my wife who travels a lot & likes the quick uploads & downloads. She just loves the speed & physical size of the unit - so easy to carry (bought suggested carry case). She also likes to work with photos and this 12gb Memory is perfect.

Even though I upgraded to 16GB of memory, my screen refresh still has "artifacts!" Blotches of text and black rectangles. There's something about the screen refresh rate is is buggy, it seems. See uploaded screenshot.

The Dell - Inspiron is an excellent 2-in-1 laptop. Very light, smooth and slim as well. The touch screen seems to smooth as well. This was the first time I met with Hello Windows as well and I felt like Hello is made for the Dell Inspiron. At lightning speed it wakes up from the sleep mode and turns on. The keyboard looks solid and the keys are placed very ergonomically for comfort typing. 12 GB RAM plays an important role in the speed as well. Once Windows 10 was installed, I installed virtual machines and it worked very smoothly without any lagging. However, I did feel the space constraint, and I wish I had another 1 TB of HDD with it. I missed the VGA connector, and felt like not strong enough to run my 2 monitors that I use with my current laptop. Overall I felt good about Dell Inspiron.

Good hinges was the must have, SS drive too

I nearly destroyed my previous 2.5 yr old non-Dell computer when I tried to close the cover and the hinge hung up breaking the plastic on the back of the screen. Now its a desk top only flopping around on one hinge. Turns out melted plastic hubs were the only thing anchoring the hinges and the hubs broke off. So the best hinges seem to be on 2 in 1's and that was priority one. I think Dell has the best hinges, subjective review based on feel moving it to tablet mode. I buy on value for what you get. SS drive is a big perk. I will never use all the 512 GB maybe a tenth based on what's on the broken computer. This was on sale for $100 off and with a good feeling keyboard and high quality touchscreen, (both viewing quality and just right touch contact) its a value.
I actually have a second one as the first was stolen at age 6 weeks,in a car break in, in the Pacific NW. Its still the right computer for me. So if you have Serial Number JPJFWB2 its stolen property turn it in to the police.
Why not 5 stars? No numbers pad and location of start switch right side front. I have mistakenly turned it off 3 times now, shifting the position of the laptop, the first place I grab is the front sides. Switch should be placed on top by keyboard or side middle.

I have numerous laptops and this one is exceptional. I-7 processor, lots of memory, runs cool, battery lasts a long time. The SSD drive in this laptop is large and fast. Flips to become a tablet with a great touchscreen. This laptop is well built and will hold up. Also equipped with an illuminated keyboard. Add to this a great display that looks great and displays colors and detail in an exceptional manner. You will not regret this purchase.

I researched quite a few options to meet my needs for a solid home laptop with the primary use of Microsoft Office, Internet, and Video/Picture editing. After research all the major places (BestBuy, Amazon, HHGregg, Dell, etc...), I found that this offered the best option for the price. I did also consider a few gaming laptops, but wanted to keep battery life and the size/weight was a concern with those options. Having the Solid State Drive makes the startup extremely fast and it runs multiple programs easily. Setting up the computer was very easy with a great guiding process. Backlit keyboard is a huge plus that you will be glad you got in the long run. I also received $100 off (Back to School) and a $50 BestBuy gift card due to a promotion!
The only negative I have experienced so far is that the touchpad seems to sometimes pickup my left arm if I rest it on the laptop while typing. I use a wireless mouse, so I activated the option to disable touchpad when mouse is connected.
Highly recommended for those wanting a reliable and fast home laptop for browsing, basic computer functions, and streaming movies. Great buy!

My first touch screen & I absolutely love it...although you have to keep the screen clean b/c spots show up very quickly. Small size & weight make it VERY EASY to use as a tablet. Very Fast! Picture is great! Sound is good. Wish it had a CD/DVD, but a USB unit works fine. Used it with a large monitor with no problems. Recommend!!!

I first bought the hp spectre x360 15.6 inch laptop because this dell wasn't available yet. I just got the dell today and it is a much better laptop than the hp spectre, which i will be returning(and 400 dollars cheaper). The dell is very well built, nice aluminium body. Not a lot of bloatware. Bright touch screen, the keyboard is a little weird due to the letters being spaced far apart. The speaker is not the best laptop speaker I've ever had, it is housed underneath the laptop and when turned up above 50 (it is not very loud) it becomes pitchy and cracking. This aside, it is well worth the price with a 512GB ssd.

I got this laptop several days ago and have used it a decent bit since then. I use it primarily for internet browsing and gaming. Thus far, it has done everything very well. Battery life is good when simply browsing the internet. The speakers are serviceable, but definitely nothing to write home about. I purchased this laptop after reading a lot of reviews and doing many comparisons. It was easy to set up, loads fast and I love the flexibility of the touchscreen. It is a little too large to use as a tablet but it's great as a laptop and that is how I use it the most.

When I tried updating my old laptop running Windows 7 to Windows 10 on the free upgrade program I found all sorts of problems with compatibility usually related to hardware or firmware. It was clear that it was time to upgrade to a whole new computer built with Windows 10 in mind from the ground up.
I was pleasantly surprised at how thin this is compared to my old laptop, in part no doubt due to having a solid state drive versus a traditional hard disk drive. Hopefully no moving parts will translate to less chance for failure. I already notice that it boots and shuts down faster. It could also have to do with the fact that this computer has NO CD drive. Most programs are moving in the direction of downloads vs. CD installs anyway, so I just bought a license for Office and installed it online.
My only minor annoyances at this point are that the power button is small and recessed (to keep it from being accidentally turned on?) and therefore tricky to power on and the touchpad isn't as good as some, though I generally buy and use a mouse (which I did) to save myself aggravation. This does have a touch screen that I sometimes use but being a bit old school I don't use it that much yet. While that could change over time, it won't help with email, Word or Excel work.

SSD drive and 12 GB RAM makes it fast enough. Mine laptop boots in 15 sec from power button press till login screen. Thereafter it takes 2-3 sec seconds to load windows after login. Touch is responsive. HD display is really nice. This laptop is good with respect to it's configuration as well as external look.

It is fast and the solid state hard drive is quick. Screen is real clear and sound is one of the loudest I have had. Only problem so far is the power button is located on the right side near the front. So every time you grab the computer to move it I hit the power button and turn if off. Would have been better to have this located further back or on top near the keyboard. Works well in the table mode and the touch screen is very responsive.

The components with 12gb memory, 512 SSD and intel 7 makes this a sweet buy. Remember it's Windows 10 and with any Windows Operating system there is going to be several updates through out that first week. So be patient for the first two days with updates. Dell is going to a few and Microsoft. Once that is done you will find this one sweet pc.
Performance has been awesome, and battery life has been great.

Bought Dell Inspiron 15.6 2 in 1 17569 with an Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - 512GB Solid State Drive. I had an Alienware PC with Windows 7 and wanted to go lighter and move all my files from PC to laptop with Windows 10. I hooked up a wireless mouse and keyboard and a wireless printer. Works perfectly.
The transfer went smooth. I backed up my Alienware to a 2TB Passport and then copied only new files to my new laptop, because I have everything on My Passport. I then loaded some of my files into OneDrive, because I have a smaller Dell 13 laptop, which I carry around, yet do not want a bunch of files to take up room on my hard drive. I wouldn't want to carry this 15.6 around all the time, but yet the weight is a nice change from a PC tower. Works perfectly for my needs.

I am very pleased with the computer so far. Display is beautiful, it is very fast, sleek, touch screen is a great feature, minimal moving parts (only fan which rarely kicks on even with external display connected). I am very happy that I decided to spend the extra money for the solid state hard drive and 2-in-1 computer. Awesome so far. Dell has really stepped up.

This laptop is fast! The SSD makes powering up and down very quick. I haven't had an issue with the small hard drive size as I keep most of the saved items on a removable hard drive. I use the touch screen less than I thought I would, it's a nice novelty item, but not a necessary like I thought it was going to be.

I have had many computers over many years this is by far the best ever. It is fast easy to use and does what it is advertised to do. Could not be happier with this dell computer. I am happy to recommend this. Solid state and have had no problems. Give it a try and I am sure you will be pleased.
